When a prolonged drought plagued Buena Village and a few other towns in the Fittoa Region. I humbly accepted their requests and made it rain all over the villages and their abundant wheat fields, which brought great joy to the villagers.
Afterwards, I handled multiple requests from the townsfolk and had been solving their problems for a couple of weeks to earn some extra money. For example, I'm currently delivering some medicine to Mr.Eto's father, who lives at his house.
Also, I noticed that the townspeople are acting friendlier towards me, compared to when I first arrived in Buena Village. Suddenly a male wheat farmer responded to me. While showing a genuine smile on his face.
"Oh? Errands for the clinic, huh?"
"Yes," I answered.
"You know how to get there?" He asked.
"I'll be fine, thank you," I replied respectfully.
"You, be careful now okay?" The wheat farmer's wife said with a cheerful smile on her face.
As I waved my hand goodbye with a light pink blush on my cheeks and continued walking to my destination.
"Mmm, what beautiful golden wheat fields. I do recall my master telling me about the Asura wheat fields in the past when I was her humble apprentice, all those years ago."
In that moment I instantly reminisced about the good old days learning about the outside world from my master Bloody Kent. When she used to live in my small house in Migurd Village as a guest.
It contained a Giant Stone Turtle shell as a roof. Inside was not particularly spacious, and it felt cramped, but it has an enough room for two or three people.
Flashback, Migurd Village—Year K381~
Roxy POV
"Master, what is wheat?" I asked with a curious facial expression, towards my mentor.
"Oh. Your people can't grow it around here, can they? It's the main ingredient in bread, and Asura is the world's biggest producer." Bloody Kent said while holding her cup of tea and continued explaining to me. "When harvest season comes, everything you can see turns into a golden colored wheat field."
"Oh, I see…Then what is bread?" I asked another question without hesitation.
"Wh-whoa, is that where I have to start?! Well, you see bread is a common food source in the human territories, made from flour and water, typically baked. It's a versatile food with variations depending on the region. Ranging from flatbreads to fluffy leavened loaves. Along with soft tender butter bread. The basic process involves mixing flour and water, sometimes with yeast or other leavening agents, and then baking the resulting dough. The dough is baked at a specific temperature, which sets the structure and creates the crust. Put the temperature too high and it will get burnt."
Present day, Buena Village—Year K410
Roxy POV
The whole Earth shines gold. This is the place I have longed for ever since I begged my teacher to tell me about it…I can't believe I forgot about something like this.
Eventually, I delivered the medicine to Mr.Eto's father and returned to Greyrat residence to eat dinner and take a refreshing cool bath as usual.
Once I changed into my nightgown I began writing in my diary, mentioning that most of the villagers started acting kind and pleasant towards me, except for the three little shitty children who play that silly little game, humans versus demons.
Where they threw mud and brandished sticks, then I either brushed their weak attack aside and ran away screaming or I played along and pretended to be vanquished.
Although whenever Rudy joins me on my errands, he always protects me from those troublemakers…Ahh if only more children were nice and chivalrous like little Rudy….Suddenly, someone began knocking at my door.
KNOCK—KNOCK~
"Who is it?" I asked.
"It's me, Rudy, can I come in Ms.Roxy?" Rudy answered.
"Sure, just wait for me to unlock the door," I replied and opened the door to welcome Rudy with a gentle smile on my face.
"Uhh Ms.Roxy, I have a problem and I need your advice," Rudy said. Unexpectedly asking for my assistance.
"What's wrong, Rudy? Did you wet the bed or something?" I said while lightly teasing the little boy to get a reaction out of him.
"WHAT!? I never wet the bed, please don't treat me like a baby Ms.Roxy." Rudy said with a pouting look on his face.
It was pretty funny seeing Rudy with an annoyed look on his face…Well joking aside, I'd better focus on the task at hand so I can go to bed soon.
"Okay, okay, I was just teasing a little. Tell me what happened already." I said and gestured to him to sit on my bed while we talked about his little issue.
"I need your thoughts on what I should do…You see the last day of summer, harvest festival is tomorrow and I was thinking about using my magic to show off some amazing fireworks for everyone to enjoy." Rudy explained.
"I think that is a nice thing to do for the villagers Rudy. But what seems to be the trouble🫤?" I asked, showing a confused look on my face.
"I'm afraid that the younger and older children will get jealous of me showing off fireworks by using magic. I don't wanna do it for fame, glory, or attention. I simply wanted the festival to be a spectacular day for everyone to enjoy."
"Mmm, I see…How about you mention me teaching you everything about magic when you announce to everyone. That way most of the credit is focused on me. And besides, even if it doesn't go exactly as planned. You are an Intermediate-tier magician and you know how to defend yourself using magic too. Also if they start bothering, just brush them aside using a simple wind or water spell and they'll eventually back off."
"Mmm, you have a good point🤔. Thank you for the advice, Ms.Roxy. It made me feel a little better." Rudy replied, offering his gratitude, due to my wise words.
"It was my pleasure, anyway it's getting late. So you better get yourself to bed. I look forward to seeing your incredible fireworks performance."
"Okay, good night Ms.Roxy, I'll see ya in the morning okay," Rudy said as he exited my bedroom. Afterward, I blew out the candlelight in my bedroom and went straight to bed.
The Next Day— Buena Village Harvest Festival~
Roxy POV
We pray for further prosperity! Let it become our sustenance and a place of rest for living creatures. Now then, let us be grateful for a bountiful harvest. CHEERS!🍻
Buena village was in a festive mood today, as the villagers began eating the delicious food, dancing merrily to the festive folk music, and talking among themselves. They were even wearing their best tunic and lovely dresses for the special occasion.
Also, the celebration itself was currently being held outside Reeve Pete's residence. It has a beautiful green meadow with lovely flowers behind the wooden fence.
More than a hundred and fifty villagers were gathered together in celebration. Last I checked, Buena Village has over thirty households here, and they live quite far apart from one another.
So events like this were precious and quite rare for the villagers to come together as a community and celebrate a successful harvest with no misfortune whatsoever.
Since it is a special event, Zenith and Rudy wanted me to wear this beautiful white dress for the harvest festival today.
Zenith mentioned that she wore it a long time ago until she outgrew it. I was going to kindly refuse, but I couldn't resist both of their eager starlit eyes. So I gratefully accepted the offer...Oh well, at least the dress looks pretty on me.
"Wow Ms.Roxy, that dress looks beautiful on you," Sylphy said, complementing my attire while blushing bright red, alongside Rudy.
"Aww, thank you for the compliment little Sylphy," I replied while giving headpats to the cute green-haired elf girl.
"See Sylphy, I told you Ms.Roxy's dress looks pretty on her," Rudy said, proudly praising me once again.
"I hope you don't plan on having me on center stage with the entire village seeing me in this dress, Rudy?" I said with a somewhat displeased facial expression.
"Huh, no way. I just wanted my best friend to see how beautiful you look in a dress. So I can convince her to wear one next year." Rudy explained.
"Ahhh I see, well enough talking let's go eat together until our bellies are full, before there's no food left for us," I suggested trying my best to change my mood in front of the children, since this is a festival after all. So I might as well enjoy it while it lasts.
"Now you're speaking my language, Ms.Roxy, let's go Sylphy," Rudy said happily as he grabbed Sylphy's right hand, and headed straight toward the buffet table.
"Uhh, okay," Sylphy replied with delightful, smiling on her face. As her pointy elf ears wiggle slightly. Does she have a childish crush on Rudy maybe? Either way, I'll leave that theory behind for another time.
"Hey, it's the girl who lives at Paul's place." The young man said, holding his cup of ale.
"Yeah, you're right…That dress looks so cute on her. That I nearly didn't recognize her." Another replied, looking slightly tipsy.
"Hey eat this, it's delicious." He gave me a platter with a sizzling bacon Terminate Boar sandwich with cheese, spinach, onions, and a dash of pepper.
"Naw, the one my daughter-in-law made is better. You'll love eating this one." The other one offered a grilled glazed honey bun and a cup of sweet wine on my tray.
"You too, Rudeus and Sylphiette. You should all eat to your heart's content." The villager said with a cheerful smile on his face and afterwards departed with his friend.
I sure wasn't expecting that to happen😅.
"Welcome missy, are you eating like you should?" A tipsy male adult said when he smacked my back with his hand.
"BUH-WUH?! Uhh, yes sir." I answered politely.
"Eat plenty, so you can grow up big now. That goes for you children too. You need to eat a lot so you can become strong like your dads."
"Excuse me, but I'm already…"
I was about to explain to the man that I'm much older than I appear to be. Due to me being born a Migurd of the demon race. Until suddenly a young man approached me carrying a wine-pouring vase.
"Do you have enough? If you don't, hand me your cup." The young man responded as he poured some wine into my cup.
"Thank you…"
"That's not all, right?" Another man said, lightly shoving his elbow at his friend's shoulder. Asking him to show some gratitude to me.
"Dang it! Everyone is grateful that you ended the drought, so thanks a bunch." He said, while blushing with an embarrassed facial expression, and walked away.
"See ya and enjoy the harvest festival." The other man said, waving his hand goodbye.
Tee, Hee😄, the villagers are finally starting to appreciate and respect me.
"Well, well, it looks like the two demon girls and the baby boy who loves demons are here for the harvest festival too, huh," Arlo said, trying to provoke us.
It looks like I spoke too soon😒, why am I not surprised that Buena Village's trio of troublemakers would suddenly arrive? In a last-ditch attempt to irritate me again.
"Ooooooh…The demon girl is drinking booze! That's BAAD. Super bad!" Somar said, while pointing his finger at me. And his friends are doing the same thing alongside him.
"I'm telling on you," Teo said, trying to frighten or intimidate me into submission.
"Who are you guys gonna tell😒," I asked with an annoyed look on my face.
"Uhh, your mom?" Somar said without hesitation.
"My mom lives in the Demon Continent, but go right ahead," I replied.
"Then how about my mom?" Somar asked.
"And why would I need to listen to your mother?" I replied with an irritated expression on my face.
"Shut up! I'll tell Paul!" Somar replied, with a frustrated tone in his voice. Because he's unable to inform anyone here. Because nobody has authority over me.
"Paul isn't gonna do anything to me. Because the truth is that I'm a lot older than your parents and Paul knows that." I explained to them, with an informative tone in my voice.
"ACK?! You're secretly an old lady?! Old lady demon!" Somar shouted with a surprised look on his face. Teo and Arlo were speechless too. Then they began teasing me for being old, while clapping their hands in rhythm.
"Old la-dy!"
"Old la-dy!"
"Old la-dy!"
Those dumbass little shits😠🤬
YANK~
Suddenly Zenith came to my rescue, as she painfully yakked on the stupid brat's ears.
Then she responded to the rude children with an angry tone in her voice. "Hey! You can't say that sort of thing to a woman of marriageable age!"
"OWOWOWOW!" Teo cried out in pain.
"Ack! Zenith!" Somar said with a shocked expression on his face.
"That's Ms.Zenith to you!" Zenith replied with an authoritative tone in her voice.
"Women are always ladies. Rude behavior is a no-no. Un…Der…Stand?" Zenith said, whispering in Somar and Teo's ears.
While bending her knees down, showing a menacing smile, and glaring directly at the troublesome children. Then she released both of their ears.
"Run for it!" Somar yelled while running away like a scaredy-cat, alongside Teo and Arlo.
"Children should be home before dark! Don't you forget it!" Zenith shouted at the boys as they fled out of the harvest festival, out of pure fear.
I responded to Ms.Zenith and showed my undivided gratitude. "Thank you for helping me."
Thank goodness, Zenith showed up to rescue me from those naughty boys. If she hadn't, Rudy probably would've blown them away using wind magic or used fire magic to burn their clothes.
"Yeah, you were a big help Mommy, thank you," Rudeus said with a bright smile on his face as he rushed in and gently hugged his mother in a warm soft embrace. I felt quite glad that Ms.Zenith arrived to protect me.
"Yes, thank you so much, Ms.Zenith, for saving Ms.Roxy from those naughty boys. I was afraid they were gonna make fun of me next." Sylphy said, feeling quite relieved that Rudy's mother came to save me.
So Sylphy was worried that the situation would escalate where she would be the next victim for ridicule, due to her having green hair.
"Aww🥰, it was my pleasure little ones," Zenith replied with a delightful smile on her face. Then she stopped hugging Rudy, stood up, and focused her attention on me. "Roxy, you can be stricter with them, you know."
"I guess, but I dunno, to me it's not worth bothering over something so trivial, since they are just children causing little mischief most of the time…Besides whenever I'm running errands with Rudy and those unruly boys attempt to throw mud at me. He would always safeguard me by using his magic."
"Really!? Rudy, why haven't you told me that you were protecting Roxy, those rude children, huh?" Zenith asked Rudy. I wondered why he was keeping secrets.
"I was afraid you and Daddy would get angry at me for using magic on those boys. I just didn't want Roxy to get hurt, so I used magic to defend her like a cool guardian mage protecting the beautiful maiden in distress." Rudy explained.
Wait a second🤔, was he referring to me as a beautiful maiden? That sweet boy does have a pure heart. Mmm, perhaps you want to protect me similar to a knight in shining armor, like in those books, "The Legend of Perugius" and "The Three Swordsmen and the Labyrinth."
"Oh sweetheart, I'm not angry with you and I know your father wouldn't be either," Zenith said, bending down on her knees to give Rudy a loving and affectionate hug to reassure him that she is grateful that he stood against injustice. Then she continued talking. "Honestly, I'm very proud of you for being a brave young man to selflessly protect your magic teacher."
"Thanks, Mommy, I'm glad you're proud of me too," Rudy replied with a happy smile on his face.
I swear, seeing this touching moment between mother and son like this. Is making me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside as my heart melts uncontrollably.
Afterwards, Zenith released Rudeus from her hug and responded to all of us. "By the way, did all of you have enough to eat?"
"Yes, Ms.Zenith," Sylphy responded.
"Yes, Mommy. We ate plenty." Rudy replied.
"Yup, way more than enough," I answered.
"Then you are all, more than welcome to have dessert!" Zenith insisted.
Then Zenith pointed out a specific dessert on the banquet table and responded. "This is the fig and walnut pound cake we brought. Paul loves it. So it's become my signature dish."
"Ms.Zenith…You really love Mr.Paul, don't you?" I replied, showing a cheerful smile on my face as my cheeks blushed lightly for all to see.
"Of course! I love him more than anything😍!" Zenith answered proudly with a radiant smile on her face, while blushing bright red.
"And I'm sure, Paul loves you too…🥰" I replied with a genuine tone in my tone.
I was about to praise Paul for being a loving husband to Zenith. But we unexpectedly saw Paul sitting on a wooden chair surrounded by young ladies, with one woman laying her head on Paul's knees…I think that's Ms.Eto pretending to be drunk so she can get closer to Paul or she really did drink too much alcohol.
"NNH...I'M SOOO DRUNK…" Ms.Eto said out loud as her face lay flat on Paul's leg.
"I wanna rest here for a bit…Or maybe you could take me to those bushes over there…?" Ms.Eto said to Paul, while making a sad puppy-dog face.
"HEE, HAH, HAH😆!…OOH, sounds like a problem I can help with😏." Paul replied, laughing with a sly grin on his face while blushing scarlet red. As his right hand began to sneak a little towards Ms. Eto's left breast.
"But hey! You can't just leave me all alone, defenseless. I just need somebody to take care of me…Ooh, I feel a little faint too." Ms.Eto said, pretending to be pitiful and weak in front of Paul.
"АН HA НА! In that case, maybe I'll join you, to give you some company." Paul replied as he laughed playfully, with a devious and vulgar smirk on his face.
While all that was happening, I saw Zenith manifest a vicious glare towards Paul. I swear to god, her death stare would bring a red dragon to shame. Honestly, I'm a little surprised that Paul is stupid enough to flirt around with a bunch of women during a harvest festival, when his wife and son are here, enjoying the celebration too.
"I'm glad my daddy doesn't flirt with women like that behind my mommy's back," Sylphy said, while her respect for Paul began to decrease a little, including mine.
"I know right, your father has a handsome face, Sylphy. So I'm a little surprised none of the women in this village attempted to flirt with him. Maybe it's because he's a half-elf and they live very long or he's more mature and smarter than Paul🤔." I replied honestly to Sylphy, with a puzzled expression on my face.
"Uhh Mommy, Daddy is flirting with Ms.Eto," Rudy stated, while he carelessly pointed his finger at his father.
"Not for long, sweetie…Roxy, please look after Rudy and Sylphy for a minute. I need to knock some sense out of my foolish husband." Zenith responded as she rolled up her right arm sleeves, getting ready to give Sir Paul a hard whack on the head and lecture him for flirting behind her back.
"PAAAAUUUL!" Zenith shouted out loud for everyone to hear.
"UHH, honey I can explain😳…😬."
HUH, he didn't see that coming😅.
Sunset—Buena Village Harvest Festival~
Rudeus POV
Roxy, my family, and Sylphy's family have gathered everyone from the harvest festival to see my incredible fireworks show…Heehee, I'm gonna turn this celebration from great to amazing in ten minutes.
"Attention everyone, I Rudeus Greyrat, will show you my spectacular firework magic show. All thanks to my magic teacher Roxy Migurdia."
"Do your best sweetheart!" Zenith said, waving her hand at her son.
"You can do it, Master Rudeus! We all have faith in you." Lilia said with a sincere smile.
"Show them what you can do kiddo!" Paul responded, trying to encourage his son.
"Good luck, Rudy! Show everyone the true beauty of magic." Sylphiette said, cheering for him, alongside her mother and father.
Okay, let's give them a fireworks show to remember for a lifetime. Who knows they might even pay me as a token of appreciation and ask me to do it again next year😏.
I reached my right hand up into the air and shot a fireball spell into the orange colored sky. Then it exploded into a ball of bright colors, like a firework.🎆
Everyone looked to the sky astonished. Some of them even had their mouths wiped open because of the glorious sight. It was certainly funny seeing all of their reactions to my signature fireworks.
"Ooooh, ahhhhh." The toddler said, viewing the incredible fireworks, as I launched another one within two minutes after the previous fireworks.
"Wow, I have never seen magic produce fireworks before." The young man said, looking completely awestruck.
"Who knew, Rudeus could create fireworks by using elemental fire magic😅. He truly is an extraordinary magician." Roxy murmured to herself while witnessing the fireworks display.
"Kyaa! That's my baby." Zenith squealed joyfully and hopped around in pure bliss.
"Yeah! Way to go, son!" Paul said while praising my fireworks performance.
"Yay, Rudy." Sylphiette applauded with joy.
"Those are the best fireworks I have ever seen! That boy never ceases to amaze me." Laws murmured to himself, complimenting my talent for magic and the beautiful fireworks I created.
Eventually, fifteen minutes passed and I was shooting fireworks into the night sky. Then I decided to end the fireworks show tonight. It was about time for children like me to return home and let the adults have some fun.
"Okay, everyone, I'm getting pretty tired🥱. So I'm gonna end the fireworks show now," I said to everyone and walked back to my family.
"Awww, I wanna see one more firework." The young child said, looking quite sad, that the fireworks had unfortunately ended.
When everyone was praising and thanking me after the fireworks show ended. Reeve Pete, suddenly gifted me seven Asura Copper Coins.
"Here Rudy, you earned this."
"Uhh, what is this for Mr.Pete?"
"It's a reward for showing such breathtaking fireworks for the whole village to enjoy."
"Wow, thank you, Mr.Pete."
"It was my pleasure, now you get your parents or Ms.Roxy to take you home. It almost passed your bedtime." Pete replied and said farewell.
Afterwards, Zenith, Paul, Lilia, Laws, and Rose decided to take me and Sylphy back to our prospective homes. Since it was getting dark outside and almost our bedtime.
Zenith responded to Roxy. "Little Roxy, can you please take Rudy back home safely?"
"Sure Ms.Zenith, it would be my pleasure," Roxy replied and I asked her for a small favor.
"Uhh, Ms.Roxy I'm so tired, can you please carry me back home?"
"Mmm okay, you earned yourself some beauty sleep after shooting fireworks for so long," Roxy said. "Upsy-daisy."
Then she gently picked me up and carried me while my head rested on her shoulder. Once I was wrapped around her warm, and tender arms, she walked back to the house until I fell asleep peacefully in her loving embrace.
