Chapter 23 - I Feel Pity

It was finally evening; the hall was filled with kings and queens dressed in their finest outfits. Only Lisa and Masafi were dressed in black gowns.

And Lisa didn't bother to talk with anyone; she stood at the corner while staring at the hourglass… All she wanted was for the event to go by quickly.

"You won," someone said. Lisa turned to find Ariel.

Lisa chuckled lightly. "Are you here for my blood? Oh no…you can't do that anymore."

"You all really take witches as an item to be owned, right?" Ariel asked with clenched fists; she was working hard for the witches to be independent, to have a say and not be under any other creature.

First she was fighting hard to get out of the grip of wolves, and now she was under the grip of the vampire king? What did they take them for?

"If the witches didn't have ulterior motives, then they wouldn't have fallen so low," Lisa mocked.

"What are you talking about?"

Lisa held a golden cup filled with wine; she sipped and smiled at Ariel. "The witches were always at the top of the chart. I mean, they even discovered the shred mark…But what happened once they had fully acquired the mark?"

"Your stupid bloodline banned it," Ariel scoffed, and Lisa smacked her lips.

"Shred killed Klaus's parents and killed a lot of wolves and even vampires. He was going to kill everyone powerful so no one could challenge him, so my bloodline saved this world from catastrophe."

Ariel's brow furrowed. "That only happened because Shred wasn't a good person; if the mark is placed on a kind person, then he will use it well."

"And you think Davin is a good person? You think once he gets the mark, then he will spare the witches? Don't be stupid, Ariel; power makes a man a hypocrite."

"Like how it did to you?" She asked with a raised brow, and Lisa couldn't believe she even asked her such a thing.

"I am the only queen in this hall who even spared you a listening ear, and you think power controls me? And now you are under the vampires, which makes you beneath me, so watch your tongue."

Ariel clenched her fist; she raised a finger, about to chant, when Masafi used her vampire speed and gripped Ariel's neck tightly. "What are you doing, honey?"

Ariel felt her eyes about to pop; she kept struggling when Sia hurried to them. "Stop." Sia scolded Masafi, who didn't pay attention to her.

"I said stop," Sia scolded, gaining everyone's attention.

"This isn't a wolf business, so get out." Masafi's fangs grew as she turned to Sia, who shook her head in denial.

"You are on wolf land, so I won't let you harm anyone."

"Marcus, dear," Masafi called, and her husband walked to her. "Let's take this one along; I need a witch nearby," she said, and Marcus agreed at once.

"No please…" Ariel struggled, and Masafi finally let her go. Ariel shook her head in denial… She didn't want to be in the vampire kingdom.

"I will leave first. Till we meet again, Lisa Moonstar." Masafi smiled at Lisa; she grabbed Ariel's hand and dragged her out of the hall.

Sia was about to go after them when Davin grabbed her hand. "Let them go."

"They can't leave with her; we need her, remember?" She muttered only for Davin to hear.

"Let her go; we are leaving as well," he stated, but Sia shook her head in denial… She needed Ariel for her plans to work; she had to take over the world, and Ariel was an important part of her plan.

"No, we need her… Get her back." She had a pleading look, but Davin's gaze was now on Lisa. Sia followed his line of sight and caught him staring at Lisa, who was now with her maid.

"Stop staring at her," she scolded, gaining everyone's attention again.

"Can y'all just stop yelling and let everyone enjoy the party?" Luna Keren scolded angrily; she was getting enough of these rivals. Couldn't everyone just act like adults and come to terms for just one night?

"Or else what?" Sia took a step forward; now she was extremely angry and needed someone to transfer her anger to.

"Or else leave." Keren wasn't backing down; Thomas hurriedly stood next to her.

"Stop," he whispered; she couldn't be disrespecting Sia… That will annoy Davin.

"Why should I stop? This lady has been causing a lot of trouble ever since she came here… I know not everyone was born with etiquette, but she is a Luna and needs to learn to respect events." Keren insulted her, and Sia was about to retort when Davin pulled her back.

"I said we are leaving," he warned before glaring at Keren.

"One more word and you will regret it," he warned, and Keren scoffed, about to yell when Thomas grabbed her hand.

"I said it's enough."

Lisa sighed heavily; the party was clearly over. "Get the carriage," she ordered Helen, who hurriedly left to assemble the guards so they could leave.

Lisa's gaze met with Keren, and she nodded at her, letting her know it was time to leave.

"Goodbye, Lisa," Keren mouthed, and Lisa turned on her heels, walking out of the hall with everyone's gaze following her.

She arrived at the entrance and stood there waiting for the carriage.

Lisa heard footsteps and turned to find Davin and Sia. "Go to the carriage; I will be there soon," Davin said to Sia, who frowned.

"Why?" then her gaze shifted to Lisa "Are you going to talk to her? Is that why you are asking me to wait in the carriage?"

"Stop opposing me, Sia," Davin warned. Sia clenched her fist.

"You might have won this time, Lisa Moonstar, but I will always win at the end," Sia thought inwardly before she hurried to the carriage, and Davin walked to Lisa.

"So you made up your mind? You are going back to the demon king?"

"It was never a choice, Alpha Davin; I will always go back to him." Lisa smiled softly, and Davin chuckled lightly.

"Does his company make you feel like you are over me? We both know how much you miss me, Lisa… You were scared out of your wits when you thought he was going to kill me."

Lisa shook her head in denial. "You mistook my empathy for affection. Of course I will be scared if someone's life is being threatened because I am just a girl."

Davin took a step closer, rubbed her cheeks, "So you feel nothing when I am this close to you?"

"All I feel is pity because it's such a shame to see a strong king like you use a woman as an award," she blurted, and Davin retracted his hand.

"You couldn't win against Klaus on the battlefield, and now you want me to come back so you can proudly tell him you won. What happened to your king's honour?"

"Lisa!!" he roared with widened eyes.
