Chapter 22 - Save Your Dignity

Lisa took a step backwards and scanned the place, wondering if Davin had come along with the witches to bring her down, now that they know Klaus wasn't around.

"Leave," she muttered, but he shook his head in denial.

"What are you doing, Lisa? How could you have married that man?"

"I said Leave." She didn't want to hear anything coming from him.

"I will take you back home and tell everyone you are my queen, so will you come back?"

Lisa raised a brow. Why would he do all that after he had rejected her and told everyone in the pack that the Moon Goddess rejected her?

"Get her back," Davin's wolf, Remon, said with an impatient tone.

"No, I am not interested in being your queen. We both know you only need me for the shred mark," she spouted, and he gripped his stomach tightly; he was still angry that Klaus had humiliated him that much.

"Listen to me, Lisa…"

"She is not interested," a voice echoed from down the hall. Davin turned to find Marcus and Masafi approaching him.

Masafi walked into the chambers and sat on the bed. "Alpha Davin, why don't you save your dignity?" she asked with a mocking tone; she had used her listening skills to pay attention to their conversation, which she found funny.

"Come on, man." Marcus patted his shoulder before Davin pushed his hand away.

"Don't you dare touch me," he warned, and Marcus raised his hand in defeat and took a step back.

"My friend asked me to keep an eye on his wife, so I really can't let you close to her," he explained, and Davin's gaze returned to Lisa.

"If you are willing to come back, just tell me and I will take care of everything. No one will stop you," he said while staring daggers at Masafi and Marcus.

"Go get healed first, honey." Masafi winked at him. Davin hesitantly left, and Marcus was well aware he couldn't step into Lisa's chambers; it was the demon's rule, so he could only respect it.

"I will have a meeting with the witches before the party," he told Masafi before leaving.

Lisa sighed heavily and returned to the window, trying to catch a glimpse of a black cloak, any sign that could prove Klaus was around.

"How did you end up married to a demon? And especially to Klaus, who knows the rules so much?"

"What rules?" Lisa's interest got piqued, and she walked to Masafi.

"A demon can only marry a demon, especially a king… A king needs a compatible female blood during intimacy to survive," she explained, and Lisa wasn't following up.

"He is weak and relies on intimacy with his wives to survive, so he must have returned to the legion because he was getting weak," she added, and Lisa's eyes widened in shock.

"He said he had important affairs to deal with at the legion, and that's why he left early. Wait…did he leave to go get intimate with Maradona or Beckam?" she questioned in disbelief, her fists clenched.

"You can't offer him his strength, so don't be offended he went to get it from somewhere else." Masafi snorted, and Lisa craned her neck in disbelief.

"Why can't I offer him his strength?"

"Because you are not compatible."

Lisa chuckled lightly. When will she ever belong? She couldn't get intimate with Davin because they were scared of the punishment they could receive from the moon goddess, and now she couldn't do the same with Klaus because they weren't compatible?

"What happens if we get intimate?"

"He dies." Masafi blurted, and Lisa's eyes widened in shock.

Then she will never fully become his wife; she will never be comparable to Maradona or to Beckam.

"But he brought you to the king's event this year instead of Maradona; I think he has a soft spot for you."

"He pities me." Lisa sat next to Masafi with a tired look.

There was a long silence before Lisa asked, "How do you know so much about the demons and especially Klaus?"

"He is best friends with my husband; what do you expect?" Masafi chuckled.

"They met 800 years ago; they both had strict parents, so they always escaped their kingdom just to go have fun."

A sad smile crept onto Masafi's face. "Then after his parents passed away, he became king and hardly had time to play with Marcus, but they always stayed in contact. I only got to know him during his wedding celebration with Beckam…he had invited us."

"Beckam, such a manipulative vixen… But she is nothing compared to Maradona; that woman is worth the name "demon queen". Masafi chuckled.

"I am not even surprised," Lisa answered; she knew Beckam was trying to get close to her only to manipulate her, and Maradona didn't even have the guts to hide her hate.

"But I am surprised Klaus didn't invite us to your wedding celebration…"

"There wasn't one."

Masafi stood up in disbelief. "Really?"

Lisa nodded, but it wasn't a big deal…she didn't care much about some celebration.

"Such an event isn't only to eat and drink; it's crowning you a queen. To give you a title, without such an event, you are just a concubine and not a wife."

Lisa's brows furrowed. "Real?"

Now she felt even more annoyed with Klaus; he didn't even offer her a celebration and was giving her a choice.

Did he even consider her a wife?

Was she ever going to belong with them? Was it worth going back to the legion?

"What are you thinking about?" Masafi snapped a hand before her face.

Lisa shook her head in denial. "When you return to the legion, have him organise a feast to make and announce you a queen."

"Does it matter? I can't even help him regain his strength; he will always run to his other wives," she pouted. "Now I understand how the other wives feel when he spends time with me instead; I feel like hitting someone," she added, and Masafi burst out in laughter.

"Now I wonder whose chamber he is in, Maradona's or Beckham's," Masafi teased as Lisa glared at her, and this caused her to laugh more.
