The air in the locker room was thick with nervous energy. The sounds of cheering outside bled faintly through the walls as the Sports Festival built toward its battles. Students tightened gloves, adjusted uniforms, and whispered words of encouragement to each other.
Gojo sat apart from it all, legs stretched out lazily, hands behind his back as he layed on the bench.
Meanwhile Iida adjusted his glasses, sitting next to Midoriya. "My friend, I have no doubt you can overcome this. You have the upper hand." He explained to Midoriya.
Yaoyorozu sat across them, Mina and Uraraka next to her as the three planned for their battles.
"Pointless," Bakugo snapped from his side of the room, arms crossed but eyes sharp. "Why do I need to fight that extra." He sat with his arms crossed, upset he didn't have someone like Todoroki, or Satoru to go up against.
He turned to look at Satoru lazing about, Kirishima congratulating as Satoru waved the compliments off from the red haired boy.
Bakugo's red eyes narrowed as he thought to himself. 'He's not just strong, he is the strongest... I need to take these rounds seriously and end them fast as possible to save all the energy for him...' A plan began formulating in his mind as Uraraka was showing off the sunglasses Gojo borrowed her to the girls.
If looks could kill, the eyes Todoroki were giving to Midoriya would have been a bloody murder scene. He glanced towards Satoru and muttered under his breath. "Cocky as usual... although it's not for no reason..."
Satoru layed on the bench calmly, Kirishima finally moving away to hype up Kaminari. 'It'll work… probably,' Gojo thought, rolling the idea over again in his head. The move was all theoretical and yet the kind of gamble that could leave him exposed if he miscalculated.
Gojo adjusted his blindfold, smirking faintly at his reflection. "Dangerous, stupid… but fun. Yeah, let's roll with it."
Suddenly Aizawa entered the locker rooms. Standing at the doorway with tired and bored eyes, he glanced around and spotted Gojo.
"Satoru. Come. You have a phone call." Aizawa raised his hand showing his cellphone on call.
All whispers and chatting went quiet as Aizawa asked for the blindfolded boy.
"What, who's it from." Gojo asked curiously as he turned and got up, walking towards the Pro Hero as the two exit the room
Everyone else looked at each other, some groaning how it might be relate to pro heros asking him to join them, Kirishima on his knees with tears in his eyes along side Kaminari.
----------
Aizawa and Gojo stood in one of the multiple stairwells, Aizawa leaning against the wall with Gojo standing before bending down to sit on the stairs as Aizawa gave the phone to him.
"Yo, and who is–" he began before the voice on the other side interrupted.
"Gojo Satoru," the voice on the other end said smoothly. In the background were sounds of people muttering, files and papers being paged through as he spoke.
"The deal still stands. President Kamizono had prepared to raise your fee. Training under U.A. is one thing, but as you know, the Commission wants to invest in you directly. You'd have full support, resources, and opportunities beyond what that school can give."
Gojo's smile faded just slightly, his eyes narrowing. "Funny. You must be that Jogo. Also, how weird that after my father went rouge suddenly your president is now wanting to press this agenda. Hell, this isn't the first call from you lot I got and I don't remember giving you my number."
Jogo spoke with a slight relaxed and casual tone now. "Think of it how serious we are about this. If you accept, you won't just be another student. Hawks himself, the number three Pro Hero on the rankings... has already sent you an internship request.
He'll be your mentor. And should missions arise… you'd accompany him as part of your 'training.' Ill have you know, the Commission rewards loyalty handsomely."
Aizawa stood next to him, listening in on the conversation. 'Throwing money at the boy and sending him on missions. He's still a damn student, not a pro hero.'
"Tell you what. Call me after the final round. After I show off a few tricks up my sleeve, then we can talk cash and missions and support she's willing to offer...
In fact shes gonna pay me triple for what im going to do in this first match" Satoru smirked as he spoke, hearing the sigh from Jogo on the other side.
"Fine, after the last match we–" and just like that, Gojo had hung up without waiting for him to finish his response, and tossed the phone over to Aizawa.
"Thanks Teach. Anyway, I think my match is soon, need to prepare to wow the crowd." Satoru said as he laughed, standing up and heading down the stairs, the cheers of the people loud enough to be heard through the walls.
'Kids cocky... guess he–' Aizawas thoughts were interrupted by Monomas heavy panting as he came tripping and falling down the stairs.
"Mister Aizawa sir! I've been looking for you. I need a favour from you." Monoma said in between breathes.
"No." Aizawa said simply as he turned to walk past him up the stairs.
"Sir! Please! It's about Gojo, I just need one thing please." He explained. Aizawa turning his head and raised an eyebrow as he paused.
'Hm... Copy quirk... if it has to do with me then it's obvious what he wants.' Aizawa thought to himself.
"Fine. Talk and I'll decide."
----------
The stadium roared with excitement as Midnight stepped onto the center stage, microphone glinting beneath the sun.
"Alright everyone, the moment you've all been waiting for, the first matchup of the Sports Festival!" she purred, striking a pose as the crowd cheered even louder. "On one side, from Class 1-B, the Copycat Genius, Monoma Neito!"
A section of the stadium erupted into applause, Class 1-B screaming their lungs out for their teammate. Monoma waved, bowing theatrically, though his eyes sharpened as he stepped onto the stage with a smirk.
"And on the other side…" Midnight grinned, her voice dropping to something sultry and dangerous. "The one who calls himself the Honoured One... The winner of all previous events… Gojo Satoru!"
This time the entire crowd exploded. Entire bleachers stood up, chanting his name, stomping their feet, the sheer volume shaking the stadium. They all knew what was about to happen.
Gojo strolled in, a can of soda in his hand as he sipped it, the other hand in his pocket, posture so casual it was insulting. Blindfold in place, and hair perfect as all ways.
He come onto the platform, standing a few meters away from Monoma as he then put down his can and straightened up.
Monoma exhaled, standing tall, determination etched across his face.
"ARE YOU READYYY TO RUMBLLEEEE!" Present Mic screamed into the microphone, the crowd still cheering as the two had a stare down.
"Monoma, are you ready?" Midnight asked, to which the boy nodded and responded with an arrogant laugh. "HA! I have something even the Honoured One himself can't fight against!"
The crowd hyping up, wondering what he had in store for the seemingly untouchable force that is Satoru Gojo.
"Oho, Monoma, i love that fevor of yours my boy, Satoru, are you ready." She turned to him, licking her lips as he gave a casual salute to her, signalling he's ready. The crowd knowing how it would go down, but even then they were excited for it.
The buzzer rang.
Monoma stood still, before starting his run to Gojo, his right fist pulled back as he ran towards him.
But Gojo didn't move. Instead, he tilted his head toward Monoma. "…You came prepared, didn't you?"
He stood still as he let Monoma lunge forward, his eyes suddenly glowing a bright crimson red.
But nothing happened. Gojo stood there as Monoma's punch stalled midair, unable to touch him.
Monoma stiffened. "W-What!?" Monoma froze, horror dawning. "Why isn't it working?!" he pulled back and tried another punch as his eyes once again lit up with a crimson glow, only for it to halt midair before touching him.
"I can feel it," Gojo continued, smiling knowingly. "A familiar interference. Aizawa's quirk. You copied it, didn't you?"
The stadium gasped. Present Mic almost dropped his mic. "W-WHAT?! DOES THAT MEAN MONOMA PERSONALLY REQUESTED TO COPY ERASE-HEAD'S QUIRK FOR THIS MA–" before he could continue it dawned on him. Midnights stood, while already knowing this, it still surprised her.
Aizawa himself appeared near the railing, his expression neutral but his eyes locked firmly on Gojo.
"HOW ARE YOU USING THAT BARRIER IF I ERASED YOUR QUIRK!?" Monoma shouted in disbelief.
The entire stadium jolted as if struck by lightning. Pro-heroes stood to their feet, wide-eyed. Present Mic was screaming into his mic. "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THIS IS INSANE! E-ERASURE DIDN'T WORK ON GOJO!"
Gojo chuckled. "Don't look so shocked." He tilted his head, almost teasing. "I can counter Erasure. Aizawa's quirk doesn't affect me. "
The uproar was deafening. Gasps, screams, even pros were openly debating the implications.
Aizawa appeared on the stage and took the microphone away from Present Mic. "Indeed. This is true. While I'd prefer to not admit, Satoru Gojo, as recently as last week figured out a way to block my quirk, and follwing his request, only two other staff members knew... until now anyway."
The crowd held their breath, many viewers included, in fact everyone watching this fight, whether at the stadium or on live television had their jaws drop.
Monoma's face twisted in frustration. "That's… that's not fair! Y-you're not even playing the same game as the rest of us!"
Gojo tilted his head, then extended his hand. "Youre playing chess, while im playing cards. Anyway. I have a idea... Want to try something fun?"
"…What?" Monoma breathed.
"Your quirk." Gojo's smile widened. "Take it. Try and copy mine."
The entire arena froze. Even Midnight, Aizawa and Present Mic stopped speaking.
Monoma stared in disbelief, the words he was hearing didn't make sense. "Y-you'd actually let me…?"
Gojo's voice was calm, almost kind. "Go ahead. I won't bite." As he extended his hand out, as if offering a hand shake.
Hesitantly, Monoma stepped forward and grabbed his hand with a firm shake. His eyes widened immediately. "I-I can felt it… I could copy it…" His voice began to tremble. "…B-but it won't let me..."
The crowd gasped again. Present Mic nearly fell off the podium. "HE CANT COPT GOJO'S QUIRK, WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK IS HAPPENING!" He shouted, every pro hero at the stadium out of their seats, Nezu watching as the internship numbers started skyrocketing past two thousand for Satoru Gojo while spitting out his tea.
Gojo smirked. "Huh. Guess it works, I just wanted to see. Interesting, right?"
The arena went wild. Pro-heroes were already barking into phones, the press was writing headlines in real time. Copy doesn't work. Erasure doesn't work. What the hell is he?
'Damn, the same logic like Erasure does apply to his copy quirk. Now, to test the another theory...' Gojo though before he gave a small shrug and spoke again. "Alright, I'll stop playing around. I'll let you copy it properly."
Monoma blinked, on the ground in embarrassment and anger at how unfair the being before him was.
He looked at Gojo's blindfolded eyes then at his hands. He once again grabbed his hand and used copy. This time he felt it, he pulled his hand away, his lips curled into a manic grin as he laughed. "Ha... hey... it worked. HA! Finally! With this… I'll—"
He never finished.
Monoma's eyes widened, pupils dilated as his breathing hitched. He felt space stretch, twist, divide. Spacial information he didn't know slammed into his mind. His brain wasn't just processing a quirk... it was drowning in infinite data.
Blood trickled from Monoma's nose as he hit the ground, twitching. His hands clawed at the air before his body went limp.
The crowd went dead silent.
"MONOMA IS OUT!" Present Mic's voice cracked, panic bleeding into his usual hype tone as medics sprinted onto the stage. Midnight was already there, kneeling by Monoma, checking his vitals as she wore visible concern on her face.
Then a shadow loomed.
Aizawa had appeared behind Gojo, scarf already uncoiled and tense like a snake. His eyes glowed red, locking onto Gojo without hesitation.
"What did you do to him?" Aizawa's voice was sharp enough to cut steel.
Gojo only sighed, scratching lazily at his head. "…Nothing. Just tested a theory. Turn of erasure, whats it going to do to me anyway."
The air was tense, Aizawa stared down Gojo directly, Gojo had his head turned back, as if looking directly back at him.
Midnight's head snapped up, glare burning through him. "Nothing?! A student just collapsed unconscious in front of thousands of people, and you're saying it's nothing?" Her hand hovered toward her thigh, ready to rip off her clothing to activate her Quirk, her body tensing up.
Other Pro Heroes began to move. Cementoss stepped closer to the stage, already forming and slowly making blocks rise from the stage. Vlad King leapt from the stands, teeth clenched.
The crowd's excitement shifted to dread.
Aizawa's scarf rose higher, ready to strike. "If you don't explain," he said in a voice that brooked no argument, "you're disqualified. And expelled. Right here. Right now."
For the first time, Gojo actually raised his hands in mock surrender. "Woah, woah, relax. Don't need to get all… scary. Okay, I get it."
A beat of silence.
"Look," Gojo began casually, scratching the back of his head, thought the sharpness in his tone carried weight, "I wanted to test something. My quirk, Limitless, isn't a normal Quirk. You need… let's call it a little something extra to handle it. Before USJ, I was inefficient. Barely scratching the surface. I'd tire out to quickly and couldn't use it effectively but even then I still somewhat had that little something.
Now… I have that 'something extra.' Without it, you try to run my Quirk and…" He gestured vaguely at Monoma, still twitching as medics lifted him onto a stretcher. "... My best guess from this experiment, you fry."
A murmur spread through the stands like wildfire.
He continued, voice calm but cutting. "Basically, when Monoma copied me, it was like trying to run the newest, most advanced software on a decade-old machine. Too much data, too fast. His brain couldn't handle the processing load. It shut down, at least thats what I think."
Present Mic's hand trembled on his mic, his voice a hoarse whisper. "… You're saying you aren't sure about your own quirk... that this is what happens when someone tries to copy it? Hell... What kind of monster is your brain."
In the stands, heroes paled. Cementoss muttered, "Uncopyable." Vlad King's fists tightened. "If that's true…" Midnight swallowed, "Then he's…"
"…Unstoppable," Aizawa finished flatly, his scarf finally lowering, but his gaze never softened.
The crowd wasn't cheering anymore. The stadium was a cauldron of whispers, dread bleeding into awe.
Midnight cleared her throat, though her voice shook. "…Um. Well. Monoma will be taken to Recovery Girl immediately." she turned to Present Mic and he turned to the stands again.
"Principal Nezu, whats your say on this?" The murmurs reached a fever pitch, the stadium buzzing like a hive. All eyes turned to the small figure perched high above the arena.
Nezu's paws folded neatly behind his back, his smile warm as ever, but his eyes, sharp and gleaming, cut straight through the chaos.
"Settle down, everyone," Nezu's voice echoed, calm yet commanding. "Yes, Gojo Satoru acted recklessly. Yes, Monoma Neito is hurt because of it. But—" He tapped his paw against the mic, ears twitching. "—this was not malice. This was an experiment, one made out of ignorance, not cruelty. And now? We all have learned something very important."
The crowd quieted.
"Gojo Satoru's Quirk is not merely powerful. It is… incompatible. To copy it, to erase it, to tamper with it... you risk catastrophe. That is dangerous, yes. But it is also knowledge. And knowledge," Nezu's whiskers twitched, "is what allows us to prepare."
He clapped his paws together once. "So, Monoma will recover. Recovery Girl is already on her way. And as for the match? The result is clear." His smile widened, deceptively kind. "Gojo Satoru advances."
"GOJO WINS!" Present Mic's voice cracked, carrying a strange mix of forced enthusiasm and unease. "That's right folks, let's… let's keep this energy rolling! Next up, we've got Shinso Hitoshi against Mina Ashido! Place your bets, make some noise, let's keep the Festival going!"
But the noise never fully returned. Excitement was slightly muted, even as some cheers, it still had a hint of fear.
Gojo strolled off the stage like nothing had happened, hand stuffed in his pockets as he took the last few sips of his drink. The rain of whispers followed him every step back to the stands, thousands of eyes drilling into him.
'It fried his brain... might be because of the spacial coordinates he had to process... an attack or ultimate move to break someone's mind...' Gojo thought to himself, dangerous things coming to mind.
When he reached his classmates, Class 1-A stared at him like strangers.
Kirishima's jaw was slack. "Bro… he just, he just fried Monoma…"
Momo swallowed hard, fingers twisting her uniform pants. "He can't… be erased. Or copied. What even is his Quirk…?"
Bakugo's scowl was harsher than usual, but his eyes flickered, not just with anger, but with something dangerously close to doubt. "Tch. Don't get cocky. Nobody's untouchable. Nobody."
Midoriya scribbled furiously in his notebook, but his hand trembled. His muttering spilled faster than his pen could keep up. "Erasure failed... copy failed...that means... n-no weaknesses? no limits—"
Gojo dropped lazily into his seat, stretching out like he'd just gone for a walk, not flattened another student into unconsciousness.
"Well Midoriya. Limitless isn't just a name you know." He said casually.
The rest of the class said nothing. Not out loud. But inside, each of them felt it.
Gojo Satoru wasn't just ahead of them. Of course this knew that, but this just cemented that reality, the truth they had to face.
It wasn't a joke anymore. This boy...
He was on another plane entirely.
