Madeline's POV
I stood there like a deer caught by a headlight as the others waited for me to spin the bottle.
But compared to the other pair of eyes, there was one that I was drawn to, the one I wanted to drown in.
From the moment we separated, my heart grew restless. It felt as if the crowd was watching me. I had come under scrutiny for dancing with Liam.
Leaving all those thoughts aside, there was something else that was poking me.
The gravity of this situation.
I was afraid this was all go, like a dream. Tomorrow, when we leave this place, away from this family, to our own place, just the two of us...
It would all vanish, the distance would grow. All these sweet moments I had here would be a bittersweet memory that would remain etched in every coil of my nerve until it tortures my very soul.
And I'd remain there, all by myself in that house, bearing this torture.
