Madeline Harlow, a 20-year-old  whose life seems pretty normal, attending classes, coming back home, rushing through deadlines and whatnot except that it's not.
Madeline was the daughter of Benneton Harlow, a leading businessman in the pharmaceutical industry until someone sued him leading his company into bankruptcy.

Fortunately, he was able to pay back all his debts and rise against all odds that were thrown at him, but at what cost?

''Dad, whose marriage certificate is this, and why does it have my name on it!?'' 

Benneton sighed and calmly stated as a matter of fact, ''It's yours and Liam's.''

As if not being able to accept what she had just heard, Madeline rushed to her dad, bringing the papers closer to him, ''Why did I even sign this!? And why him!?''

(The title of the chapter was inspired by the song "The Water Is Fine," which plays when Liam and Madeline begin dancing.)


My next partner made me laugh even before we started dancing.


"Forgive me," he said in a slightly mocking tone, "for stealing you away from Liam. But then again… he stole my wife, so I suppose we're even."


I chuckled, the sound shy and breathy. My cheeks warmed again as I replied softly, "It's so beautiful, though. Watching you both still so much in love, even after all these years."


Grandpa shook his head, amusement filled his eyes, though his tone carried humility. "Thank you, child. But it wasn't always this way. We've had our share of storms, conflicts, and struggles. The kind that almost tore us apart. Love is not a straight path. It bends and breaks, but it's one of the most fulfilling feelings you'd ever have."
