Chapter 128 - Dimensional Shift, Activate!

Seeing Moss lower her head in deep thought, Grannymon seemed to guess her thoughts and said, "You're still in your youth—don't go getting too caught up in the little tricks an old Digimon like me uses to find things."

Little tricks to find things?

That's way too humble.

Moss let out a silent chuckle. "That's wishcraft, Grannymon."

Grannymon shook her head and said, "I often forget where I drop things. The spell was born from the need to retrieve those forgotten items. That's also the cost of mastering it."

Summoning a savior was just pushing that everyday spell to an extreme.

"…So that's how it is," Moss murmured in realization.

Technology has its costs, magic has its conditions—everything in the world follows the rules of equivalent exchange. Even "free" things come with unseen prices.

Mastering this summoning spell came not only from Grannymon's power but also from forgetfulness—no, a decline in memory.

Grannymon sighed. "You might think this old Digimon is just rambling, but someone as young as you, who's achieved things most Digimon from countless dimensions couldn't do in a lifetime… I truly admire you."

Moss couldn't help but think back on everything she'd done lately. She smiled.

Grannymon continued, "Within the Digital Justice League, we heard of your accomplishments—being a diplomat recognized by Yggdrasil, the first Secretary-General of the League… It was like a dream. I could hardly believe a Digimon so extraordinary truly existed."

Moss was visibly flattered. She enjoyed it. A little more praise wouldn't hurt.

"And when I heard you could transform into different Digimon, I wondered if you were the reincarnation of a Mimicmon," Grannymon added.

Moss shook her head. "My ability isn't as convenient as a Mimicmon's."

Each Digimon Spirit she acquires requires fulfilling certain evolution conditions—every one of them earned through effort.

In contrast, a Mimicmon can scan an opponent and instantly transform, stacking powers and even surpassing the original. It was far more convenient than what Moss could do.

Come to think of it, Gatomon could evolve into an Imitamon at the Perfect stage, and possibly into a Mimicmon at Mega.

So if Gatomon could, then maybe her current form—Angewomon—could too.

If she could gain Mimicmon's power, she wouldn't need to slowly grind her way up anymore. She could just scan anyone she saw—your power is my power, and mine is still mine. It'd be like being a FatTigerMon!

…And Mimicmon was kind of chubby and round too.

So that's how it is!

Unfortunately, Moss didn't yet know how to unlock Imitamon's evolution, let alone Mimicmon. A real shame.

While Moss was silently lamenting, Grannymon kept musing aloud.

"Mimicmon is a creature of destruction, but you—who possess similar powers—chose a completely different path."

She sighed lightly and added, "I believe a Digimon like you was born for a greater purpose."

Moss came back to her senses. Hearing the word "mission," she didn't really feel anything special. She'd just gone with the flow and done some small things.

Finally, Grannymon said earnestly, "But I hope you won't lose the joy of being a normal Digimon just because of that mission."

Being a Digimon, after all, is about enjoying life.

Moss gave a thumbs-up and grinned. "I won't forget. Finding joy is part of my daily routine."

"That's wonderful to hear!" Grannymon said with a warm smile.

She could tell Moss carried a heavy burden, but duty alone could crush someone. Being too rigid leads to breaking.

Balance is key—only by knowing joy can one face everything with a smile.

So knowing Moss could still enjoy herself, Grannymon was relieved.

"…You two probably don't mean the same thing when you talk about 'joy,'" thought Angewomon Lucy silently.

All good things come to an end. Though Moss had a great time talking with Grannymon, the Digital World Grannymon was restoring still had many pressing matters.

Moss couldn't take up too much of her time and bid farewell, setting off once again with Cosmo Brainmon, Goblimon, and others on a new interdimensional journey.

Several days later, Moss received contact from the Arc Reactor.

More specifically, it was Azulongmon of Universe 03 contacting her through the Arc Reactor.

After Universe 03's humans came into contact with DATS members from Universe 05, they compared organizational structures and submitted a proposal:

"Digital Tamer Professionalization Application."

In other words, to make the Chosen Children of all worlds paid, full-time employees—with duties to resist Daemon, protect their worlds, and more.

It may look like cold money was being used to dull the passion of kids saving the world, but in truth, it was protection.

After all, children's passion came from having fewer life burdens. Once they grew up, adult pressures would crush that enthusiasm.

And most problems created by social pressure could be solved with one thing—money.

So the dependable adults in Universe 03 proposed professionalizing Tamers. The salary might seem cold, but it freed the kids from worry.

Life isn't just poetry and dreams—it's also rice, oil, and bills.

Only by securing daily needs can one chase the poetic. Even Buddha needed staff.

Compared to lofty ideals, a paycheck is a more effective way to protect a passionate heart.

"The original wild Tamer group in Universe 03 disbanded due to lack of funds. Because they've been rained on, they now want to hold umbrellas for the next generation."

Truly the most dependable adult group in the Digimon multiverse.

After reviewing the application, Moss approved it in her capacity as Secretary-General of the Digital Justice League and appointed staff to implement the policy.

That wild Tamer group from Universe 03 would be in charge. They'd already gathered worldwide talent and had plenty of experience.

[Dimensional Jump Countdown: 0 Days]

"It's time!"

At the moment of dimensional travel, both Moss and Angewomon Lucy focused with all their might, relying on the spatial awareness they'd built over a thousand journeys.

WHOOSH!

Dimensional travel took only an instant.

Before, it happened in the blink of an eye—they had no perception of the transition.

But this time—they felt it!

"This feeling… If I had to quantify it, it's like stacking a billion interdimensional gates. Whoa… it's distant!"

Imagine if each Digimon World were a bubble the size of a fingertip, with a one-kilometer gap between each one.

Then this jump was like crossing over 100 million kilometers.

(That's a simplified metaphor—the real spacetime distance is far more complex and vast.)

"Looks like influencing this kind of dimensional shift will take a long time…"

Moss calmed herself, checked her condition, then looked around.

Where was this new world?

Lush forest, crystal-clear streams, wolves and tigers, snakes and rats—a pristine, untouched wilderness.

WHOOSH!

Suddenly, a thin red light shot up in the distance.

Moss sensed it and murmured, "Hmm… this energy isn't technological. Looks like another supernatural world."

She flew toward it and hid in the bushes to observe.

There, within some ancient ruins, were two figures—both monsters.

One resembled a massive snake, the other a four-tailed fox.

"…So it's this world," Moss said with a light chuckle.
