Chapter 110 - The Death of Lucemon

Lucemon was powerful.

That was beyond question.

In ancient times, Lucemon single-handedly quelled the conflict between humanoid and beast-type Digimon, bringing peace to the Digital World.

But the peace didn't last. Lucemon soon became a tyrant.

In response, the Ancient Ten Warriors rose in revolt against Lucemon's tyranny.

These ten warriors were all Mega level Digimon, representing the ten elements of nature. Not only were they highly evolved, but they had lived long enough to accumulate massive energy.

Even so, it cost the lives of eight and the injury of two to barely seal away Lucemon.

That alone showed Lucemon's terrifying power.

Now, in his Fallen Mode, Lucemon was even stronger than he had been in the ancient days.

In the original story, a Rookie-level Lucemon could only destroy a small part of the moon using the Grand Cross. But Lucemon: Fallen Mode could easily shatter an entire moon!

In fact, in the world of Digimon Frontier, there were three moons, and the debris from the one he shattered ended up destroying the other two.

That's the scale of power Lucemon: Fallen Mode had.

But he encountered Moss—a reincarnated Angewomon who had trained at the Lookout in the Dragon Ball world, and even reached a divine transformation in the Realm of the Supreme Kai.

Lucemon possessed data from half of the Digital World, which was comparable to wielding natural elemental forces like the Ancient Ten Warriors.

With a thought, he could summon mountains or seas.

Yet in the face of Moss's ki-based attacks from the Dragon Ball universe, it was like paper before a storm.

Her mastery of ki was her greatest weapon. Perhaps in the Dragon Ball world she was the weakest of the mysterious Z Warriors, needing to use tricks to overcome enemies—but here, she was peerless.

Even if Yggdrasil itself appeared, she could fight it evenly.

"Impossible..." Lucemon muttered, pale and stunned.

On Wandering Island, everyone—human and Digimon alike—watched slack-jawed.

Lucemon's power far exceeded what anyone thought possible from a Digimon, yet Moss was still above him!

"Run!" Lucemon made a snap decision and fled.

Even if he could summon natural disasters using the Digital World's data, they would be useless. He'd rather conserve his energy and escape.

If he insisted on fighting, he would surely die.

With a beat of his black-and-white wings, he shot away—within seconds, he was a kilometer away.

"As long as I gather all the world's data, my power will increase again. If I absorb the darkness underground, I'll become even stronger..."

Lucemon thought of the dark sphere buried underground, the one that had imprisoned him for years. If he could absorb its data, he could greatly enhance his dark power.

As he dove toward the ground—

A flicker!

A figure—also half-black and half-white—appeared ghostlike beside him, golden hair flowing, armor gleaming, a smile on her lips.

"!"

Lucemon's pupils contracted. His mind screamed with warning, like a banshee shrieking.

No!

Don't come near!

But he couldn't stop it. The black-and-white figure brushed past him.

"—!"

Lucemon suddenly felt an emptiness in his chest. Looking down, he saw—nothing.

The cold wind whistled through. His Digicore had been torn out.

Turning, he saw Moss's side profile. She wore her black-and-white armor, her face smiling faintly. In her glowing red left hand was his golden Digicore.

Dark Despair.

One of Mastemon's techniques. Her left hand seizes an enemy's Digicore, crushing and deleting it—a dark-type move.

"Ugh... give it back..."

Lucemon reached for the Digicore, staggering like a dying man.

Gone was the tyrant who once threatened to destroy worlds.

Moss's smile deepened, tinged with something dark.

"Give it back... give it back..." Lucemon murmured, voice fading.

Though he held half the Digital World's data, without his Digicore, he was powerless. A corpse with data was still a corpse.

Crack—

Moss crushed the Digicore in her left hand. The fragments formed a new Digitama.

She held it up toward Lucemon and said, "You no longer have a heart. You are but a shadow of this child's past life. Begone."

Begone.

Begone.

Begone.

Her words struck like thunder. Lucemon trembled.

The data within him—once part of the Digital World—fled his control and dispersed, returning to where it belonged.

Unlike the original story, he didn't transform into Lucemon: Satan Mode. This time, he returned completely to the Digital World.

Moss waited a moment, saw no Satan Dragon appear, and confirmed he was truly dead.

She dispelled her transformation, reverting to her Angewomon form, and flew back to Wandering Island, tossing Lucemon's Digitama to the Holy Angewomon.

The Holy Angewomon barely caught it and asked in disbelief, "Lucemon... is dead?"

"Of course," Moss replied.

"Ha! I knew it!" roared Onismon.

Cheers erupted. The air of celebration swept the island.

Holy Angewomon blinked slowly. It was real—Lucemon was gone, and peace had returned.

As she turned toward BlackLeomon, she suddenly said, "You must return to your body immediately."

"Huh?" BlackLeomon blinked.

Everyone looked confused.

She explained, "You're different from the others. You weren't chosen by me—you're a human soul who ended up in the Digital World by accident."

The other Ten Warriors—Flamon, Lobomon, Fairymon, Kumamon, and Beetlemon—exchanged glances.

"BlackLeomon is human too?" they asked, stunned.

Silphymon nodded thoughtfully. Nanamon looked shocked. Cherubimon just muttered, "Good kids need regular meals."

Holy Angewomon added, "The Digital World is syncing with the human world again. If your soul doesn't return to your human body soon, it will die."

Moss thought, Being a Digimon isn't so bad.

If BlackLeomon's body died, he'd live on as a Digimon—like her.

Lucy the Angewomon chimed in, "Not everyone is you, Moss."

Moss nodded. "They don't even match half my awesomeness."

Lucy chuckled.

BlackLeomon, however, remembered the mother who raised him. If he died...

"How do I return?" he asked urgently.

"Use Trailmon. But…" Holy Angewomon hesitated—his Digimon form would cause a stir.

If he returned in soul form, he'd be invisible.

"I'll handle it," Moss said.

Holy Angewomon lit up. "You can?"

Moss pulled her aside and whispered, "While I go, prepare some data for me—this and that. I want to study it when I return."

Holy Angewomon was surprised—Moss had defeated Lucemon and didn't even know such basics?

Still, she agreed.

Then, she conjured a black Digivice and handed it to BlackLeomon.

He stored his two spirits into it and devolved—becoming a human boy.

"Kouichi?!" everyone gasped.

He looked just like Kouji Minamoto!

Kouji, now back in human form, muttered, "So I have a brother…"

Moss interrupted, "If you don't leave now, Kouichi will die."

Kouji jolted. "Let me go too!"

The others—Takuya, Izumi, Tomoki, and Junpei—also reverted to human form.

"We're coming too!" they declared.

Moss didn't mind.

Soon, a Trailmon carried them all toward the human world.

The portal between the fourth Digital World and Earth was intact in this timeline.

This meant the kids could now visit the Digital World like tourists.

"If the fifth Digital World also had Trailmon, it'd make things easier…"

Moss shook her head. Not my problem. Let Yggdrasil worry about it.

Once in the human world, she cloaked them using the Snake Talisman's power to avoid causing a stir.

They reached the hospital. In the ER, Moss used Holy Bubble to heal Kouichi's body, allowing his soul to return.

Kouichi lived.

Doctors called it a miracle. They asked him to stay, but he declined.

Moss told the kids, "I interrupted your adventure. As compensation, I'll summon you when I need help."

—That's not compensation, that's a burden!

The kids laughed awkwardly. "If it's hard for you, it's impossible for us…"

Moss waved it off. "Don't sell yourselves short. The Ten Warriors are strong. Train well—I will call on you."

"…"

"I won't keep you—goodbye!"

She left with Kari Kamiya and returned to the Digital World via Trailmon.

Though time flows more evenly between the worlds now, her short stay had passed as days in the Digital World.

During that time, Holy Angewomon restructured the Digital World and prepared study materials for Moss.

When Moss arrived, she headed straight for her castle, guarded by Nefertimon.

"Greetings, Lady Angewomon," Nefertimon said politely.

Moss noted her elegance—even with a cold iron mask, Nefertimon's curves were very un-beastlike.

Unlike chubby Gatomon, she had a graceful, humanoid figure.

"Lady Angewomon?" Nefertimon tilted her head.

Kari Kamiya smiled awkwardly. "Hello. We're here to read."

Nefertimon nodded, charmed by Kari's polite and warm demeanor.

Lucy warned Moss mentally, "Stay focused, Moss. Don't get any funny ideas."

Huh?

Impure thoughts again?

Moss coughed. "Where's Holy Angewomon?"

"Handling disputes around the world. Please follow me," Nefertimon said, leading them to the castle's library.

Moss told her, "Nefertimon, please keep Kari company. I need to study."

Nefertimon agreed—she preferred the girl to the odd Angewomon.

Once they left, Moss used soul separation to let Lucy control the body for study while her spirit rested and recovered her DigiSoul.

Each had their task.
