While the three were sitting, Kairos suddenly began smiling broadly, showing all his teeth—an unmistakably sinister grin. He put his hand to his mouth and said: "What intense excitement! Had I known a school could be this lively, I would have enrolled earlier."
Isabel and Fern felt uneasy, knowing that Kairos's smile always carried a hint of danger. Isabel spoke up: "Stop that smile, it's frightening us."
Kairos replied: "Ah, damn! I laughed without realizing it because of all the excitement."
The break ended, and everyone returned to their classrooms. Professor Takumura instructed all students to come to the training hall.
All the students gathered there. The professor asked: "Who among you has used a sword before?"
Kairos and Carson raised their hands. The professor asked them: "Have you ever fought with a sword?"
Both students answered in unison: "Yes."
The professor said: "Very well, then demonstrate a friendly duel between the two of you."
He handed them wooden swords. Carson was tall and well-built, standing at 187 cm.
Carson rushed toward Kairos, attempting a surprise low strike. Kairos easily blocked it without moving from his spot.
Kairos retaliated with a strike aimed at Carson's neck, but Carson blocked it with his sword. Kairos then tried to strike his torso, which Carson barely managed to defend.
Carson was struggling, while Kairos hadn't moved even a fraction of his strength.
Carson stepped back and thought to himself: "Damn! He's so strong! He hasn't moved at all. What should I do?"
"Alright, I'll attack with all my strength," Carson decided. He charged toward Kairos, aiming a strike at his head. But Kairos easily avoided it—he was far too fast.
While Carson was running, Kairos struck Carson's leg, causing him to stumble and fall to the ground. Kairos approached and placed his sword at Carson's neck.
The professor spoke: "Good, the duel is over, and it was very well executed. Excellent work."
Everyone felt a surge of relief and excitement, happy to see a strong ally among them and no longer a subject of ridicule.
The professor asked: "What is the most important thing you need right now to become strong swordsmen?"
All the students replied: "Learn sword techniques immediately."
Carson added: "Train the basics every day to become stronger."
Kairos said: "We must train our bodies first, then learn the sword basics."
The professor replied: "Correct. Kairos's answer is spot on. Before learning the sword, you must have a strong body capable of wielding it easily. Your legs must be strong to support your strikes and endure prolonged sword training."
"Starting tomorrow, we will begin a physical training program for two to three months to make you stronger and capable of wielding the sword with ease."
Everyone eagerly agreed with the professor.
Thus, the day passed at Kairos and Fern's academy, filled with ambition and dedication toward their goals.
Kairos and Fern waited for Isabel at the entrance to her department. As everyone exited the magic department, many girls looked at Kairos, admiring his handsome features.
Some gathered to ask his name and intentions. As they approached, Isabel and Helena emerged together, noticing several girls trying to get close to Kairos.
Helena said: "Oh, hurry, or they might capture him first."
Isabel replied: "Why should I hurry to him?"
Helena said: "If you don't want to, I will go."
Helena approached Kairos: "Hello."
Kairos replied: "Greetings."
Witnessing the interaction, the girls whispered: "Looks like they're involved. He's already taken. What a shame. This beautiful boy is gone from us."
Helena tried to move closer to Kairos.
Kairos said: "Please, don't come any closer."
Helena: "Why not? Are you shy?"
Kairos: "I don't like girls getting too close to me."
Helena: "Ah, I see. What a well-mannered young man."
Kairos asked: "Where's Isabel?"
Helena: "She's coming. Ah, I remembered—someone tried to bully her from our department."
Upon hearing this, Kairos lifted his head and glared at Helena with intense fury. "Who dared approach her?"
Helena felt a hint of fear, noticing the lethal anger in his eyes. She muttered: "Damn… he hasn't even looked at my face, yet his gaze is terrifying."
Kairos stormed into Isabel's classroom, furious. At that moment, Isabel had returned to her seat, having forgotten something.
Her head down, Kairos approached from behind and asked: "Isabel, who were the people that bullied you?"
She replied: "It's none of your business. Just stay away from me, and I don't want to hear your voice again."
Isabel hadn't realized it was Kairos speaking because of her concern and distraction.
Kairos said: "Who did this to you, that you didn't even recognize my voice?"
Isabel turned and saw Kairos glaring at her with fierce anger.
She replied: "Don't worry about them. I've already sent them away, so you don't need to concern yourself."
