Orion looked at Eleanor and then back to me then back to Eleanor Before finally looking back at me.
"Is this why you haven't reported in, in almost a week because you've been hanging out with grandma over here-"
Just as Orion finished his sentence Eleanor smacked him with her cane.
"Oww… hey stop!"
"Now don't you be giving me an attitude as well, it's bad enough with one of you little shits".
"Eleanor this Orion I… work with him"
Orion looked at me clearly waiting for me to explain why I was up here. So I explained mostly everything and was able to convince Orion from telling Adrian about Eleanor.
"Okay I get why you're here but why are not in the mines"
I looked at him and raised my eyebrow in confusion
"Mines? What mines"
Eleanor walked past me.
"The only mines here have been closed of for years there almost no way to go in there"
"Then why did I get a sos form James saying he needs help in these mines"
I looked at Eleanor.
"can you sense any energy signals in the mines?"
"no there's something in the mines which blocks the energy signals"
"what?"
"you'll understand soon enough" .
I looked to Orion then to Eleanor weighing my options.
"It's okay Nathen we'll pick up your training another time"
I faced Orion.
"Well then I guess we better hurry".
It took me and Orion almost the whole night but eventually we found a cave which luckily led into a set of mines. Eleanor had decided to stay at her cabin so it was just me and Orion. We wander through the mines looking for any signs of James or anyone really. The caves were dark and wet, thankfully Orion used his power, which he called light control an extremely basic name to create a small wisp of bright yellow light in his hand while small, the light still lit up a decent portion of the cave which helped as we ventured deeper.
We ventured into what looked to be the main hub since it had multiple sets of mines, even some above us.
"God this place is a bloody maze we'll never find them"
Orion had a point, kinda, the caves were big and there was at least 30 or so entrance which all led to there on maze like system. We looked around wondering where we should look first but we were quickly interpreted as something which looked like a rope but shone bright red wrapped around Orion who yelled in pain as red lighting shot from the rope I was about to run to his side when.
"BEHIND YOU"
It was that voice again. I had heard it while fighting Ethan but it had been silent since then it told me something from behind was coming. I tried to turn but I felt something hard hit me on the back of my head and everything went black. I felt a freezing cold splash of water hit my face which shocked me awake. My eyes shot open and I instinctively tried to move but my legs and arms were bound to a metal chair. I felt the cool touch of metal as it constricted around my arms and legs. I looked up and saw a burly man with a long ginger beard which stretched down to his stomach and a pickaxe strapped to his back.
"Who are you"
The man looked right at me, his eyes inches from mine.
"I'm the one asking the questions boy"
The man's voice was like a low rumble, I could smell the man's rancid breath as he spoke.
"Now tell me boy why are you in my mines"
"I'm just lo…"
I stopped myself. I knew there was already a high chance they'd seen James but I still couldn't reveal the fact I was looking for him in case they hadn't seen him.
"Looking for your friends hum"
Wait, friends? Plural.
"I don't know who you're talking about"
"So you're telling me that the white haired boy and the girl aren't apart of your little possy".
Shit he must be talking about Noah and Emma. They must have gone with James but why?. The man's brow furrowed as he stood up straight he turned and I followed his gaze and was surprised to see another man, this one tall and slender with sunken eyes and gray hair with skin the colour of ash standing in the corner. Had he been there the whole time I hadn't sensed his energy, but what surprised me the most was I hadn't seen him with my eyes even when I was looking right at him I had a hard time seeing him it's like my mind struggled to understand what is was seeing like he was an abstract form trying it's best to stay in a form that the human mind could understand. But then it hit me with a wave of pressure which made me involuntarily sink into my seat. The man walked close and I realised my mind wasn't struggling to understand him but the sheer size of his energy. And then it clicked and I realised In helpless horror that the reason why Eleanor hadn't sensed James Noahs or Emma's energy wasn't because the mountain blocked the signal but because this man's energy single handedly covered the whole mountain.
The man looked me dead in the eyes and then placed his hand on my chest and I could feel him proading at my energy pool then he grinned which seemed so sinister.
"He's a match"
The burly man raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"your saying he's actually compatible"
The slender man's face dropped slightly.
"Not yet he needs more power we'll keep him here for now Albode go inform the others"
The burly man Albode nodded and walked towards me and plucked a hair from my head and walked away. Suddenly a ringing sound came from the man and he answered. After a moment I heard a beep. I looked at the man who seemed angered by who called him. He walked over to where Albode had gone and he vanished. I tugged at my restraints but they wouldn't budge them. I heard a crash. I whipped my head around but I couldn't see where the noise came from but just then I heard shouting and a sharp beam of light shot past me just nicking my forward I felt the small trickle of warm blood run down my face. Looking to my side I saw Orion dashing down the cave towards me 3 miners behind him then when Orion saw me he skidded to a stop spun on his heels and punched the first miner in the face sending him flying back. Orion ducked under a swing from a sword and uppercutted the 2nd miner. The other mine threw a punch which Orion sidestepped. Orion coated his arm in a bright light and punched the final miner in the stomach. Orion turned to me and walked over to me.
"you alright?"
"what?"
"your as pale as a ghost"
I couldn't see myself but he was probably right.
"we need to find the others and leave quick"
Orion grabbed and effortlessly snapped the chains around my arms and legs. and we began to search.
James winters
"SHIT!"
the sound of my leg snapping back in place echoed throughout the cave. Using the bottom half of my broken glavie I tied it around my leg keeping it in place as a makeshift cast which while effected made traversing the caves slow. I had been walking for what felt like hours for anything familiar but there was nothing but eventually I came across some tracks and was forced to hide as a group of miners walked past.
"Boss says we found a match"
"really they found a high blood"
"In the flesh they say it'll be ready soon"
Once the miners were a decent ways away I followed them I walked for around an hour then I stopped and turned next me I noticed 2 huge doors at least 50 feet tall and 30 feet wide in the middle around the height of my shoulder between the two doors was a disk shape with 2 hand prints in the middle looking around I made sure there were no miners and I placed my 2 hands on the door but I had to quickly retract them as a burst of electricity ran through my hands. I fell back and quickly scrambled to my feet and walked back away from the door. Just then I heard a loud crash and shouting from down a cave entrance. I slowly crept down listening to what sounded like fighting as I peeked around a corner the sound quieted down and there I saw Nate and Orion walking towards me.
"Nate!"
Nate turned and faced me.
"James!"
