Chapter 228 - #228

"Halt your advance! Sunagakure airspace lies ahead. Proceeding is extremely dangerous!"

The mighty warning echoed across the endless sky, carried and amplified by the howling wind.

Momoshiki, Urashiki, and Kinshiki paused mid-flight, momentarily stunned by the sheer audacity of the command.

A cruel, mocking smirk twisted Momoshiki's pale face. "Hmph. A mere native. A pathetic morsel of food actually dares to call itself dangerous."

Urashiki let out a sharp, arrogant laugh, his Rinnegan gleaming with dark amusement. "Well, overeating or consuming rotten trash can cause a terrible stomachache."

Momoshiki chuckled darkly, his eyes devoid of any human empathy. "Come. Let us see just how dangerous this world's food truly is."

Instead of slowing down, the three celestial beings accelerated, tearing through the cloud cover like comets. Within seconds, they closed the distance, coming to a dead halt exactly one hundred meters away from Kaedehara Manyo.

Manyo observed the intruders with cautious curiosity. Their unnaturally pale skin, long silver hair, and the strange, bone-like horns protruding from their skulls were traits he had never seen in any shinobi.

In return, the three Otsutsuki stared down at Manyo's traditional samurai attire with blatant, overwhelming disgust. To them, he was nothing more than a primitive savage.

Despite the heavy, oppressive chakra rolling off the trio, Manyo maintained his polite, disciplined composure.

"Gentlemen, regardless of where you hail from, the airspace behind me is a highly restricted sector of Sunagakure," Manyo warned, his hand resting calmly on the hilt of his katana. "I must ask you to turn back immediately."

Momoshiki scoffed, looking at Manyo like an insect on the bottom of his shoe. "We are gods of the cosmos. We descend upon your filthy, aboriginal dirt whenever we please."

He pointed a pale finger at the samurai. "And food has absolutely no right to refuse its consumers."

Manyo's brow furrowed in deep disgust. The sheer malice and vile arrogance in the pale man's words sent a chill down his spine.

Manyo was a gentle, free-spirited soul who found peace in nature, dedicating his blade strictly to protecting the innocent. Encountering an entity so fundamentally evil and devoid of basic humanity physically repulsed him.

"Since you can manipulate the air to fly, it seems you might actually be a nutritious delicacy," Momoshiki sneered, his eyes gleaming with hunger. "Do try not to disappoint me."

Manyo slowly drew his katana, holding the gleaming steel horizontally across his chest. "Do you truly understand the weight of your own arrogance?"

The Anemo Vision pinned to his scarf flared with blinding light, pulsing perfectly in sync with his rising fury. The surrounding winds howled violently, swirling around his body in a protective, roaring cyclone.

Urashiki sighed dramatically, resting his glowing red fishing rod on his shoulder. "Why waste your breath on a native, Momoshiki? We have far more important tasks to complete."

"True enough," Momoshiki agreed lazily. "Kinshiki. Exterminate him."

The hulking behemoth, Kinshiki, stepped forward in the sky. With a terrifying flex of his chakra, he manifested multiple glowing red arrow feathers behind his back and launched them directly at Manyo.

Manyo's eyes narrowed. He stepped into the gale, his sword becoming a blur of steel and wind.

'Chihayaburu!' Manyo chanted internally.

With a sharp flick of his wrist, Manyo unleashed a massive, swirling updraft that violently plowed a deep trench through the sea of clouds.

The secret sword technique acted like a localized hurricane. It ripped the glowing red projectiles from the air, aggressively pulling them into the center of a raging tornado.

The crushing air currents slammed into Kinshiki, completely halting his forward charge. Even the giant's massive, tree-like frame was caught in the torrential updraft, violently spinning against his will.

Urashiki blinked in genuine surprise, floating safely out of range. "Oh? That is quite a powerful Wind Release for a mere native."

Momoshiki's Byakugan flared as he analyzed the attack, his initial surprise instantly replaced by deep contempt. "Hmph. It is nothing but the crude manipulation of natural energy."

"How utterly pathetic that these aboriginals still rely on such primitive, unrefined power," Momoshiki scoffed.

"Kinshiki, stop playing around!" Momoshiki snapped. "It would be a complete embarrassment to our clan if you lost to a savage!"

Kinshiki's stoic face darkened with shame. His Byakugan pulsed intensely as he activated his unique space-time jutsu.

By tearing a temporary rift in the fabric of reality, Kinshiki forcibly phased his colossal body out of the physical dimension.

In the blink of an eye, the giant vanished from the crushing grip of the tornado. A fraction of a second later, he materialized completely unharmed in the calm sky outside the cyclone's reach.

Manyo's eyes widened in sheer shock. 'He bypassed the wind current entirely?'

"Spatial phase-shifting," Kinshiki grunted, his deep voice rumbling like thunder.

Manyo didn't fully understand the mechanics of the alien jutsu, but he knew his opponent was incredibly dangerous. He tightened his grip on his katana, channeling a dense, crimson-tinged wind aura directly into the steel.

The hyper-compressed wind drastically amplified his physical reflexes, pushing his samurai instincts to their absolute limits.

Kinshiki didn't hesitate. He launched a brutal counterattack, transforming his entire colossal body into a crackling bolt of purple lightning.

Moving at breakneck speed, the towering Otsutsuki shot toward Manyo like a railgun projectile, leaving a blinding, ozone-scented trail across the sky.

Manyo exhaled slowly, his mind entering a state of absolute tranquility as the lightning bolt closed in. He brought his blade back, preparing to execute his ultimate strike.

"If one knows the autumn of the world by a single falling leaf..." Manyo whispered, his voice cutting through the roar of the thunder.

"...then let the flash of this maple blade be its question!"

Manyo slashed downward with world-shattering force. The blade violently absorbed the ambient moisture from the ocean below and the raging wind from the sky above, fusing them into a terrifying singularity.

A colossal wave of razor-sharp sword energy erupted from the katana. The torrential storm coalesced into a single, blinding crescent of wind and water.

The slash was so impossibly massive that it eclipsed the setting sun. It tore through the heavens, visually splitting the very fabric of the sky in two.

Riding the violent momentum of the hurricane, the strike crashed head-on into Kinshiki's lightning charge with apocalyptic fury.

A safe distance away, the mocking smiles on Momoshiki and Urashiki's faces instantly evaporated.

Staring at the heaven-splitting sword slash, the two Otsutsuki gods were finally forced to acknowledge a terrifying truth. This 'primitive' native was incredibly strong.

The ocean trembled violently before splitting apart. Torrents of seawater erupted from the massive fissure, rushing straight into the stormy sky.

A howling gale descended from the heavens, merging seamlessly with the secret sword technique to amplify its destructive power.

The world itself transformed into a colossal furnace. The churning sea acted as the anvil, and the raging winds became the hammer, all working together to completely crush Otsutsuki Kinshiki.

Kaedehara Manyo watched the spectacle in silence. He finally grasped a sliver of the true, awe-inspiring power of heaven and earth.

The storm grew fiercer by the second. The wind didn't just blow; it roared wildly, pulling thousands of tons of heavy saltwater up into the raging cyclone.

Faced with such majestic force, even a god like Kinshiki looked as insignificant as a mortal. The brutal winds made movement nearly impossible, and the sudden, freezing drop in temperature only made his situation worse.

The normally stoic Kinshiki couldn't hold back a furious roar.

From the glowing red chakra ring floating behind his back, countless crimson shields materialized. They swarmed around him, desperately trying to block the torrential wind and rain.

The storm hammered against the shield array relentlessly. The brutal impacts echoed across the sky like massive war drums.

A faint smile crossed Manyo's lips as he watched Kinshiki get trapped in the vortex. He had no real intention of killing the giant.

'Hopefully, they'll realize they're outmatched and fall back,' Manyo thought.

Unfortunately, Manyo drastically underestimated the sheer malice of his opponents.

Without warning, the space to his left and right violently fractured. Momoshiki and Urashiki phased out of their pocket dimensions, launching a synchronized sneak attack.

Caught completely off guard, Manyo couldn't raise his sword in time. Devastating blows slammed into both sides of his abdomen simultaneously, forcing him to violently cough up blood.

His vision went black as he lost consciousness. Unable to maintain his footing in the air, his limp body plummeted from the sky.

Momoshiki and Urashiki smirked triumphantly, watching the samurai fall toward the churning ocean.

"How utterly stupid," Urashiki mocked.

"Did you really expect a lowly creature to possess actual intelligence?" Momoshiki scoffed.

Momoshiki turned toward the raging storm. "Hurry it up, Kinshiki!" he yelled over the roaring wind. "We aren't going to wait around for you."

With Manyo unconscious, the storm quickly lost its driving force. The cyclone weakened enough for Kinshiki to violently smash his way out of the wind barrier.

As the giant broke free, he looked down just in time to see a massive wave swallow Manyo's limp body. The samurai disappeared beneath the dark, freezing surface of the ocean.

"Let's move," Momoshiki ordered, his pale eyes turning cold. "Let's go see exactly what that insect was trying to keep us from finding."

The three Otsutsuki shot through the sky, flying rapidly toward the distant coastline.

Deep beneath the crushing ocean waves, the Anemo Vision pinned to Manyo's collar began to glow with a brilliant, pulsing light.

A cocoon of pressurized wind burst from the gemstone, tightly wrapping around his unconscious body.

The wind barrier protected him from drowning and shielded his bones from the lethal water pressure. Still, he was critically injured, remaining completely unresponsive as he sank deeper into the abyss.

As he drifted downward, a colossal, terrifying black shadow swam toward him.

The mass was a walking black hole, indiscriminately devouring every fish, shark, and patch of seaweed in its path.

Floating helplessly in the water, Manyo was instantly swallowed whole by the abominable blob. He was dragged deep into its cavernous flesh, where the monster immediately began the digestive process.

First, the dense muscle fibers violently contracted. The dark brown, fleshy walls pressed inward from every direction, attempting to physically crush its new meal.

Highly corrosive stomach acids and digestive enzymes rapidly flooded the chamber.

The creature's entire existence revolved solely around eating and absorbing energy. Its digestive capabilities were so potent that it could easily melt down solid steel bulkheads.

However, heavily protected by the divine power of his Anemo Vision, Manyo couldn't be crushed. No matter how violently the fleshy walls ground against him, they simply could not break through the swirling wind barrier.

The corrosive acids and deadly digestive fluids were swept away by the miniature hurricane, proving completely useless.

The meat blob's cellular hive-mind processed the situation with brutal simplicity. Since the food couldn't be digested, it would simply store it for later.

The fleshy walls surrounding Manyo began to squirm and shift. The muscles rippled, pushing him deeper and deeper into the core of its colossal body until he was dumped into a massive, separate stomach cavity.

This vast cavern was essentially a bubbling ocean of toxic digestive juices.

Floating right in the middle of this acidic sea, like an isolated island, was the Death Mountain Villa. Since the monster couldn't digest Conan's pocket dimension either, it had simply swallowed the entire estate and stored it here.

Inside the villa's courtyard, Conan, Ran, and Kogoro were casually enjoying a barbecue.

Suddenly, they noticed a fleshy valve dilating on the grotesque ceiling above them. Something was falling through.

"Wait, is that a person?!" Kogoro yelled in shock, nearly dropping his skewer.

Conan adjusted his glasses, a sharp glint flashing across the lenses. "No," Conan said quietly. "He's not just a person. He represents a completely different world."

"Ran, quick!" Conan shouted excitedly. "Grab him and pull him in!"

After being trapped inside this fleshy nightmare for what felt like an eternity, Conan finally saw a glimmer of hope for escape.

Ran immediately grabbed a coil of thick rope. She swung it like a lasso, expertly catching the falling samurai mid-air before hauling him down with a powerful tug.

Manyo landed heavily on the soft grass of the courtyard. The three detectives quickly huddled over his unconscious body.

"He looks completely out cold," Kogoro muttered, poking Manyo's shoulder.

"Yeah, thanks for the brilliant deduction, old man," Ran sighed, rolling her eyes.

"Well, why is he in a coma then?" Kogoro huffed defensively.

Conan observed the samurai carefully for a moment before looking up with a deadpan expression.

"There is always only one truth," Conan stated seriously. "And the truth is... he got the absolute crap beaten out of him."

Ran facepalmed. "Literally anyone with eyes could see that, Conan."

The fabric on both sides of Manyo's torso had been completely shredded. Deep, brutally bruised fist marks were stamped into his pale skin, indicating a devastating, synchronized impact.

"Is he going to die from your... Reaper curse?" Ran asked Conan, her voice laced with genuine worry.

"Don't worry," Conan reassured her, popping a lollipop into his mouth. "My conceptual power isn't quite that absolute."

"I can only passively affect the immediate area around the villa," Conan explained. "Plus, he's a foreign anomaly from an entirely different dimension. My rules don't apply to him."

"Do you think we can use him to finally get back to Beika City?" Ran asked hopefully.

Conan looked up at the grotesque, pulsing ceiling of meat that acted as their sky. His eyes narrowed thoughtfully.

"I have no idea," Conan admitted. "But this entire world is undergoing a massive, dramatic shift. If we play our cards right, we might just find our window to escape."
