The next day.
Xia Xiyan slung her backpack over her shoulder and walked downstairs.
Ou Mama and Ou Grandma were having breakfast. As soon as they saw Xiyan coming down, they immediately greeted her warmly.
Responding with a soft "Mm," Xiyan walked over and sat down.
She had just taken a sip of milk when her eyes couldn't help but drift toward the spiral staircase. "Where's Ou Jue?"
"Him? Oh, he left first thing in the morning," Ou Grandma said as she placed a fried egg on Xiyan's plate. "Work's busy at the company."
So early?
It was only seven in the morning.
After spending so much time with Ou Jue, she knew his routines inside and out.
That guy never left for the company this early before.

Her hand slowed as she ate her toast, and suddenly, everything tasted like cardboard.
Ou Mama dabbed at her mouth with a napkin and smiled gently at Xiyan. "Little Jue used to drive you to school. How about I take you there today?"
