Alice Turner turned back to look at Thomas Fisher, who was catching up with her. She wanted to refuse his company, but before she could say anything, he waved at her with a smile, "Sister-in-law! You wouldn't mind having me, the foodie, around, would you?"
He took a couple of big steps to walk alongside her.
"I don't mind!"
Seeing Thomas Fisher's smiling face, Alice Turner suddenly couldn't bring herself to refuse him. The words of refusal she had prepared were swallowed back, and the next words she spoke took on a completely different tone.
Thomas Fisher was rather thick-skinned, and he hadn't noticed Alice Turner's earlier hesitation at all. He even reacted this way with Easton Holmes's obstruction, much less at this moment facing Alice Turner.
"I knew Sister-in-law wouldn't mind me."
Hearing the woman beside him say she didn't mind, his smile grew even brighter, "You don't have to drive. Let's take my car. I'll bring you back after dinner."
