"What is bothering you?" I asked softly as I ran my fingers through his hair, being careful not to loosen the ropes of his mask. He had come in with a heavy heart. At first, I thought it was because of mother's death, but something told me it was deeper than that. Maybe Queen Fortuna had said something after I left. I leaned closer. "Talk to me, my love. Let me hear what's on your mind."
"I am confused," he said with a quiet sigh. "Tonight, Fortuna told me something I never expected to hear."
He laid on the bed, his head resting on my lap. His voice was low, hurt.
"She upset me with her words."
So I was right. I knew it had something to do with her. I kept my voice calm. "Will you like to share it with me?"
"I don't know if I should. It might upset you too. I don't want to ruin your night."
I could see how heavy it was on him. But I wanted to be here for him, the way he had always been there for me.
