Kyle Kinston slipped Mabel Quinn's letter back into the envelope and then asked her, "Do you want it?"
She nodded, "Next time I go to visit Dad's grave, I'll take this letter to him, let him know what I wrote back then, and fulfill the promise I made to him."
He pondered for a moment, then smiled and handed the letter back to her, "Okay."
The two of them moved the displaced soil back into place and tamped it down before leaving.
Mabel noticed that Kyle Kinston's forehead was slightly sweaty, and she instinctively wanted to wipe it for him. But when she used a tissue to wipe it, she realized the tissue had been used to clean her hands, and her hands had some dirt on them. Now, she had transferred the dirt onto his forehead.
