Chapter 19 - Chapter 16: Second Time in the Dungeon (5)

This can serve as a trump card during any dangerous situation if I can copy the skills of some high rank adventurers and repeat this process would make me invincible, at least till I was able to grow stronger and reach their levels. I would definitely laugh in my sleep tonight, now just need to think of how to copy skills.

I closed the system screen and stored my spare sword back in my inventory and put the wooden sword back into its sheath and gave myself a light slap to my cheeks to pull myself together and make me remember that I was still in the dungeon.

I once again moved out to quickly reach Level 10 and see if I could be able to complete my Unique Quest as well.

-----------------------

In a chamber on the 7th floor, two elves were fighting against a group of three goblins, four kobolds and three frog shooters.

The goblins and the kobolds may look similar to those on the 1st to 4th floor, but anyone who makes that mistake will have a one ticket to their end. Because these monsters which looked like their counterparts from the first floor were nothing alike, instead they were stronger, more cunning.

They would wait for their chances and swarm the adventures in groups and swiftly kill them without giving them any chances to strike back.

The younger male elf was facing off against two goblins, a kobold and a frog shooter. He wore a strained look on his face and was constantly making mistakes or misses here and there, only to get helped and scolded by the older male elf, who had a relaxed look on his face and was able to easily hold the other monsters at bay without killing them.

"Luvis Lilix, this is the second time, keep your eyes on the surroundings also, even when you are fighting against a monster, you must also not forget about the monsters who may spawn or jump you." The older elf, Cain, a Level 2 of the Modi Familia had had brought a fairly talented recruit, the younger elf, namely Luvis, a Level 1 with C in stats, to make him to get used to the deeper floors of the dungeon and fighting against a group of enemies or how to react when a group of monsters swarm you.

Cain once again let out a sigh, Luvis was good, but still rough around the edges. But that did nothing to hide his talent, the younger elf had joined their Familia a few months before the Great Feud, but was talented enough to get his stats to C in almost all his attributes except for magic in just a little over eight months, provided the other Familia members had helped him on his dungeon trips. But still, that level of talent was truly good.

'Hah, at least we have a good rookie, he can learn from his mistakes and grow stronger, no problem, and all his stats are around C, the next thing is whether to get him to level up or try to get him to increase his stats, that depends on him. It may be rushed, but I hope that he Level's up, there are almost next to no high Level adventurers in our Familia after the fight, against the Evilus, during the Great Feud and by leveling up he can get a boost to his strength.' thinking that, Cain, once against used his long sword to cut down the kobold which was trying to sneak behind Luvis.

And just when he was about to scold the younger elf, he felt the floor vibrate, at first faintly. This started ringing alarm bells in his mind, his intuition screaming the word danger at him.

Quickly using his sword, which now was coated with a layer of fire, from his skill, a quick few slashes were all it took, to kill all the monsters near him, even the ones Luvis was fighting against.

Before Luvis could even ask what was going on, Cain, now with a panicked look on his face, made a shushing gesture at Luvis and feeling the tremors grow stronger, dragged the confused elf into the hallway nearby and quickly covered the distance of tens of meters within a few seconds and hid behind a part of the dungeon wall which provided them perfect cover.

Just as Luvis was about to ask Cain something, Cain held his hand against Luvis's mouth and gestured him to peek at the chamber they were in vaguely visible.

A few seconds passed by with nothing happening, then Luvis saw a lone human boy running almost at an unnatural speed, and cross the chamber and take another hallway disappearing in the blink of an eye.

As Luvis continued looking into the empty chamber where the boy had just passed, he saw a few killer ants pour in through the hallway and head in the direction of the human boy.

At first, Luvis could still keep his calm, looking at the killer ants swarming from the hallway, but as more time passed by and the number of ants showed no sign of ending, the calm look on his face turned grim, then to a look of horror. Just imagining that if he had not escaped from there in time or if for no reason, Cain was not with him on this trip, the resulting scenarios made the elf feel like he was doused in a bucket of ice chilled water refreshing him once again about the horrors of the dungeon.

It was only after a few minutes after the more than 200 ants had left was he able to let out the breath he was holding. Luvis turned to look towards the older elf, who was also having a pale face similar to his own, maybe thanking himself for his quick actions.

Cain felt Luvis looking at him and spoke out his thoughts, "I was just thinking about that human boy, whether he will survive or not and what would I be able to do if I was being chased by such a huge group. Anyway let's quickly escape from here, and remember this is what the dungeon is like, it will not adapt to you, you have to adapt to the dungeon.

Luvis upon hearing Cain's words wanted to ask if they could do anything to help the boy they had just seen, but before he could even speak his thoughts, Cain cut him off.

"Don't even think about that, I can know just by seeing your face, only a veteran Level 2 or even a Level 3 adventurer can fight against such a big swarm, even though the killer ants are nothing much to me individually, but once in a group, you get ganged up from everywhere and to save the boy while fighting against the swarm, even I can't do it. It may be a different case if I had an area attack at least but I don't have suck a skill or magic, except for my fire application skill. Let's just leave from here."

Cain finished his words and turned around walking away, 'After all, I can't sacrifice my life for the boy and try to save him, our Modi Familia is already under heavy debts and being the only Level 2 currently in the Familia, I can't act on my own, at least until the debts are paid off and you kids grow up. Sorry to break your fantasy Luvis, but this is life, it just does not go the way you want.'

As the two elves walked away in the opposite direction, about the boy the killer ant swarm was chasing.

[Light POV]

I was first hand experiencing the horrors of the dungeon, being chased by a group of more than 200 killer ants.

...

A few dozen minutes back, having just gotten to the seventh floor, I got a random quest asking to kill a 100 monsters in 10 minutes.

[Quest,

Random Quest: Kill 100 monsters in 10 minutes]

Thinking about how to kill a 100 monsters in ten minutes, the first idea that came to mind was using the killer ants, or rather trying to make the killer ants summon it's companions.

This was some information which I had gotten from the books which I had gone through at the guild, Killer ants when sensing danger try to attract their companions by releasing pheromones.

Thinking that it was a good plan, I came across the first group of monsters on the seventh floor, three goblins and kobolds and as my luck would have it a lone Killer Ant. Easily dispatching the goblins and the kobolds, I played with the Killer Ant to allow it to attract it's companions. Twenty more killer ants soon swarmed the chamber from the two hallways. Using the acceleration skill to defeat them, it was not much difficult.

Once again I left the last Killer Ant, so that it can attract more of them. Everything was going well, extremely well I might say, as I was successful in summoning two more swarms of 20 monsters.

But as they say, third time's the charm, leaving the Killer Ant for the third time was a complete disaster.

As I was waiting for more Killer ants to swarm in, for the first few dozen seconds nothing happened, then came the slight vibration, I was not sure, but backed out of the chamber feeling something wrong. Thank goodness I did that, because the next moment, it was like the dungeon almost had a tracker on me, the walls on the chamber I was in craked, top, bottom, left, right, and Killer Ants poured in from those cracks, more swarming in from the hallways. The small smile I had on my face became a bit strained, then turned into a frown.

In the next second, the killer ants all looked at me, that left me with only one thought in my mind 'Run, run run run.' After all, the scene in front of me was like in from a horror movie, the ants were still coming out from the cracks, swarming in from the hallways, they were almost jam-packed and one on top of another and in such a state if all of them turned to look a person, no matter how much their mental strength is, their first thought will be to run. It's almost like an instinct, preserve your life.

I was the same, a normal mortal, as the first thing that came to my mind, I turned around and ran.

But after running for a few minutes and feeling calmed down now, I paused for a minute, they are just a group of ants, I have a system, a Level 30 and Level 70 power-up card as trump cards, why the f''' am I running from monsters on just the 7th floor.

Immediately looking at the map trying to find an empty room, and headed towards it, but there were two blue dots, meaning adventurers in the path towards the chamber, making me turn around and search for another empty chamber. I found a huge chamber a few seconds later, rushing into it, moving towards the opposite wall and taking out my spare sword from my inventory and added all my hard earned stat points into constitution bringing the stat points once again to zero.

I took a few deep breaths, held both my my swords in a tight grip, thinking of or trying to come up with new skills while waiting for the Killer Ants to come over.

A/N: Another chapter! Cheers!!!

I wanted to try writing the story from another's perspective and show a normal adventurers run in the dungeon, and how much time it takes a normal adventurer getting stronger in contrast to Light. And also to make our MC feel that the dungeon is truly a scary place.

Another thing can anyone guess who is Luvis Lilix, he comes up in the anime too, and don't try to use google.

Let me know how you guys felt seeing about me adding another's POV? Was it good?
