Caius's POV
Blood dripped from crystal glasses as my slaves toasted my return. The grand hall of the Vampire Court sparkled with lighting, making the marble floors glow red. I sat on my black chair, watching them all with new eyes—eyes touched by ruby fire.
"To Prince Caius," called Lord Demetri, raising his glass. "Who has returned with the power of the Ruby Wolf flowing in his veins!"
The vampires cheered, but I saw the fear behind their smiles. Good. Fear would keep them in line while I changed everything.
I touched the small bottle hanging from a chain around my neck. Inside glowed a few drops of Sienna's blood—freely given, not taken. The source of my new strength and the link that kept us linked even miles apart.
