I stood at the edge of the forest, watching the sunrise paint the sky in shades of orange and gold. For the first time in years, the darkness inside me was gone. In its place was a warm, ruby glow—Sienna's power, her soul, flowing through the bond we now shared.
It wasn't the same as before, when we were kids. When we were each other's only hope in a world set to tear us apart. This bond was different—tempered by pain, strengthened by choice.
"Still can't believe it, can you?" Kieran's words broke into my thoughts as he approached. The Alpha—though he wasn't really just an Alpha anymore—moved with new grace, his own body changed by Sienna's power.
"That we survived?" I asked. "Or that we're supposed to get along now?"
Kieran smiled, though his eyes stayed cautious. "Both."
