In the southern part of the academy meant for training and education of sleepers induction ceremony was about take place in a large underground hall.
Echoes of murmurs were evident in the hall some of them were about how they had killed a tyrant singlehandely or someone bragging about the cool memory they had ofcourse as all social settings went there were some who had started to suck up to the powerful from the very moment they saw them but despite all of the interaction going on Richard was bored.
Leaning against the wall in a corner Richard was looking at his watch trying to see his dark hair and deep dark eyes on the surface of the watch having arrived earlier than most Richard did things like this to pass the time .
Looking around he saw countless young children who were about to die in four months during their venture in dream realms laughing casually , making relations with each other swearing to be friends for life this scene infront of Richard made him feel disgusted
'Why were they doing something so futile when chances of their survival was low' sighing inwardly Richard looked around for his companion
Just as the society partitioned itself on some criteria here students had also subtly partitioned themselves. The one with strong aspects and the rich background were together but were few in number the ones with no family background and unimpressive aspects were bundled together though their head count were more and ofcourse there were outcasts.
In every society there would be people who wouldn't fit in for various reason some were shunned and some chose seclusion themselves just like that there were some outcasts present in the academy hall as well
Normally the distinction would be like this but thanks to the descent of nightmare spell another class in society had been introduced legacy clans. The children of these clans were trained from young age for battles against nightmare creatures their very existence was to kill the nightmare creature and continue the family name.
Currently their were handful of legacy present in the hall but there were kids of less grand origins with them as some of them sucked up to them to be with them , some were picked by legacies because of their interesting aspect and ofcourse some were their because they had enough wealth in waking world to be on par with a legacy clan Richard himself was suppose to be there because of his family wealth but choose to wait in a corner for his companion.
Looking around Richard finally found her in the crowd there she was in a simple white dress walking towards Richard.
Looking at her Richard thought ' How many time it has been always I'll be on time and she would make me wait today I'll give her piece of my mind'
Reaching infront of Richard she said
" You look really good , this memory that your father gifted you suits you"
Being a bit suprised with the sudden praise Richard decided to do the same
"Well I must look good but not as much as you Lily "
Hearing this Lily's face lit up with a smile witnessing the dark haired girl smile Richard forgot to scold her and internally made himself ready to protect her afterall they had been together since they were young.
While Richard was talking to lily he noticed someone glaring at them it was a scrawny girl with unruly blonde hair standing in a corner opposite to them as a response Richard also smiled towards her.
Noticing Richard looking somewhere else Lily said
" Why are you standing here shouldn't we go and interact with others don't tell me they don't want to talk to you"
Looking at Lily Richard said
" It's not like I'm not interacting because I have no power its because I can choose to not interact since I have power"
Hearing this Lily laughed and said
" I know your father has more than half of the influential buildings in the city but still don't be so arrogant "
'It's not arrogance lily it's knowing where you stand' Richard said inwards
Trying to change the topic Lily asked
" Do you know about the rumor that "
Cutting Lily off mid sentence Richard said
"That a guy tried to break in the lady changing star's sleeping pod yeah I do , he must be a hardcore fan "
"Well isn't someone well informed despite being on the corner " said Lily jokingly
"Well one can figure out from murmurs but why would I try that when I have this "
Touching a gold earring on his right ear Richard continued " It's a artificial memory that increases my range of hearing"
Suprised Lily asked "so you know everything what they are saying"
"Not everything but important stuff like their aspects, feats, whom they like , their opinions about other and ofcourse their opinion about us so rest assured I have determined whom to befriend for our maximum profit"
Hearing this Lily smiled faintly looking at that smile Richard's determination to protect it strengthened.
Just as both of them were having a moment the large metallic door leading to the hall opened halting the murmurs that went on till now
Four men in black suits entered the hall and after making sure everything was alright they said something on their transmittor stood in rows of two, gaurding the gate as if someone important was coming
Everyone was astonished not even legacy or rich brat like Richard himself was given such treatment so he was surprised what kind of person was coming that security was this high
In a while the two awakened with a handcuffed kid came in sight . The young lad oozed of randomness and disorder due to his mix of black and grey hair and contrasting eyes.
After coming into the light it took a while for lad's eyes to adjust to light but after a while coming to his senses he muttered somthing slowly.
Even the awakened beside him must have not heard him but Richard had and what he heard made come to a conclusion.
' He's the ultimate outcast'
Richard was scared anyone would be after hearing someone say that in all seriousness
Richard tried to convince himself that he miss heard but how could he afterall the so called ultimate outcast was still muttering the same thing like a lunatic
