It spread outward from me in every direction, its surface slowly rippling beneath my feet. The farther I pushed my understanding of Space, the larger it became. What had initially been nothing more than a small pool soon stretched beyond my perception, and before long, it had transformed into a vast silver river flowing endlessly through the void.
Its waves rose around me, sometimes reaching several dozen meters high before collapsing back into the flowing expanse. Yet despite their tremendous size, the waves never truly moved away from me. They seemed to follow my thoughts, responding to every change in my understanding of Space.
I continued pondering. The more I understood, the more violently the river responded.
Then something emerged from beneath its surface.
