Beyond the ancient door was nothing but darkness. There was no corridor, no light, and no indication of what waited on the other side, yet the moment I looked into that darkness, the Generator Core inside me began to tremble. A faint resonance travelled through my body, almost as though something within that darkness was calling to it.
Lyrate looked at me, her expression immediately becoming cautious. "Billion, I have a feeling this is a trap."
"Yeah," I replied quietly. "I feel it too."
She glanced back toward the darkness before looking at me again. "Then should we leave for now?"
I remained silent for several moments. Every instinct I possessed was telling me to be careful, and yet walking away wasn't really an option. Whatever existed beyond that door was connected to the Generator, and this was the first real lead I had found toward evolving my core and eventually gaining the strength I needed to face Theras.
