Our protagonist continued his adventure, avoiding the beasts with auras exceeding his combat capacity, quickly leaving the city, continuing his walk while remaining alert, although, of course, he spent most of his time running rather than actually doing anything else, hunting small animals and storing their bodies in his space ring.
Time Skip - 10 Days
- (I never thought I'd travel to another world and appear in Yuji's guise. I liked the final jujutsu arc, Ita-Goat. Now, considering this lake has small fish, the water shouldn't be poisonous. I'll try, I'm almost out of water.)
In front of a crystal-clear lake, our protagonist had begun to build a fire. Still unsure how to make fire, he stared at the lake, thinking about eating the fish raw, continuing his intense attempt to make fire using two pieces of wood, trying to copy tutorials he saw online in his previous world, although the results weren't very satisfactory.
He lowered his head when he sensed movement in the forest, preparing for combat. He saw a cat with flaming ears. Although he didn't know its name, he understood it was an elemental beast. If it could control fire, then it would be a problem for him. While he was considering whether to attack the cat, the feline kept its eyes on the fish our protagonist had caught with a rod in the lake. Obviously, he noticed this, although he didn't know about the monster's intelligence. His manual said that beasts don't develop intelligence in the early stages.
The cat quickly jumped toward the fish. Our protagonist defended his food, using a piece of wood to hit the cat directly in the belly. The cat flew away, but landed with almost no damage. His ears were larger, and his anger was demonstrated by the amount of fire produced in his body. He accelerated in a straight line toward the human who prevented him from eating, quickly arriving in front of the human, his claws glowing red as he made a move to scratch the human's face. The human defended himself by dodging his head to the side, although the claws still hit his cheek. One hand grabbed his neck while the other punched his neck, knocking the wind out of the cat, as he fell to the ground, although the human remained silent about it.
Our protagonist would quickly catch a fish and point it at the cat's ears before pointing to the pile of wood and leaves he'd gathered to make a fire. The cat would then drop the fish on the ground, hoping the cat would understand. If not, he'd knock the cat out and wait to see if the flames in his ears would continue to burn or go out.
The cat would look at the human making strange gestures and partially understand what he meant. He just had to burn the wood and he'd get a fish. Strange human, that's what the cat thought, but he did it. He hadn't found a beast to hunt for days, and his strength wasn't at its peak. That was why he didn't use his flames in combat. He would quickly place his ears on the wood while catching the fish that the human threw away from his fire.
Our protagonist saw this and quickly approached the fire, placing his fish on sticks, which he placed over the fire, waiting for them to be cooked. Although he's not the best cook, he knows when to remove a grilled fish, having learned from his father before he was still in school. He waited for the fish's scales to become blackened from burns, and then removed it from the fire before eating one and tasting it, although he was short on salt, which was normal considering he had no way to get salt now.
Feeding some fish to the cat before putting some in his ring for future consumption, he continued his journey until he came across a bunch of unknown ruins. First, he looked at the small houses, finding nothing relatively useful, which was normal since they were probably the homes of poor families. He continued on to the mansions, finding some interesting things, like another ring, where he kept the jewelry he found, and some old maps. Nothing particularly important, although those are the largest mansions.
- (I wonder if there is a secret vault? I can't find anything else and the fact that there are no beasts here gives me the creeps. There are two possibilities: either there is something very terrible here that makes all the beasts stay away, or there is some matrix to prevent them from arriving, but then the city wouldn't have been destroyed, how strange.)
