The two partners kept running as Nemesis chased after them. They took a sharp turn and dashed into a storage room. It was cramped, filled with stacked boxes that made it feel like a maze. At the far end, they spotted a vent. Y/N quickly broke it open.
Jill: "Ladies first."
She crawled inside, leaving Y/N to follow. But as he tried to get in, Nemesis grabbed his leg and yanked him back, throwing him across the room. He crashed through a pile of boxes.
Jill: "Y/N!!!"
Y/N: "Gah! You wanna do this the hard way, huh!?"
He pushed himself up, shaking off the pain, and took a fighting stance. Nemesis charged. Y/N met him head-on, both throwing a punch — their fists collided with a small shockwave that sent Nemesis stumbling back, crashing into the wall.
Y/N dropped to his knees, clutching his bleeding hand with a pained scream.
Y/N: "Ahhh! I think I broke something…"
Jill crawled out of the vent and ran to him. The two quickly made their way back and crawled through the vent together. After what felt like forever, they dropped down into a sewer and entered the next door. Jill slammed it shut and turned the valve to lock it.
Y/N: "Okay, I'd say we lost him for now— God, my hand is killing me!"
Jill: "Here, let me see."
She grabbed his right hand and removed his glove. His fingers were bleeding, some crushed and turning blue.
Jill: "Hssss… I think a few fingers are broken."
Y/N: "I can already feel that!!"
Jill took a bandage from her small bag and started wrapping his hand.
Jill: "Your hands don't look that strong. How were you able to beat all those zombies and fight that monster with just average strength?"
Y/N: "Haha—ouch! I'm just built different—ouch!"
Jill: rolls eyes "Yeah, right."
Once she finished, Y/N put his glove back on.
Jill: "Don't use that hand too much."
Y/N: "That's my favorite hand!"
Jill: "And if you want to keep it, take care of it!"
Y/N: "Hffff… fine."
Jill took out her radio and tried calling.
Jill: "Carlos, do you read me? Carlos?!"
No response.
Jill: "Shit."
Y/N: "We could be too deep underground. Let's look for a way out."
Jill: "Right. We need to get back up there."
They eventually came across a locked electronic door. There was an empty slot beside it.
Jill: "We'll need to find a power source to get this door open."
Y/N found a note nearby.
Y/N: "Says here there's a battery pack somewhere around here."
Jill: "Let's find it then."
Suddenly, a strange noise echoed through the sewer.
Jill: "What's that?"
Y/N: "Oh, a crocodile!?"
Jill: deadpan "You don't actually believe there are crocodiles in the drainage channels, right?"
Y/N: "Ehhhhhhhhh… of course not!!"
They waded into the filthy sewer water and reached a steep slope.
Y/N: "Do we really have to go into that sewer water?"
Jill: "We don't have a choice, Y/N."
She slid down the slope and splashed into the water below.
Jill: "Ohhh god… I'm definitely burning these clothes."
Y/N: "Step back and watch this. I'm going to make an awesome landing!"
He jumped, did a mid-air front flip—and landed face-first in the water right in front of Jill, who burst out laughing.
Jill: "HAHAHAHA!!"
Y/N: muffled "Hamahm!!!"
As they continued walking, something massive slithered out from a drainage tunnel — a huge, fish-like monster with a gaping mouth.
Jill: "The f*ck!?"
Y/N: "I told you there were crocodiles here!!!"
Jill: "That's NOT a f*cking crocodile!!!"
The creature lunged at them. Jill whipped out her shotgun and fired repeatedly into its mouth until it dropped dead.
Y/N: "Ewwww! Why didn't you let me fight it!?"
Jill: "And what were you going to do to that thing!?"
Y/N: "Uhhhh… punch it?"
Jill: stares, unimpressed "...Right."
They kept moving. Y/N pulled out a map—holding it upside down.
Another Gamma Hunter burst out of the drainage and charged them.
Jill: "Chew on this!"
She blasted its mouth again. It screeched, burned, and finally collapsed.
Jill: "Damn it. Those things are eating through my shotgun shells."
Eventually, they reached the end of the sewer path and found a ladder near a door. Inside the small lab, Jill spotted something.
Jill: "Y/N, I found it!"
She held up the battery pack.
Y/N: "Good, now we can get out of here."
They left the lab and retraced their path to the slope. But another Gamma Hunter appeared.
Jill: "Eat this!"
She tossed a grenade into its open mouth—it exploded violently, killing the creature instantly.
Y/N: "That was COOL!!!"
Jill chuckled as they continued onward.
They climbed up the ladder and reached an iron-bar door. It was locked, but Y/N stepped forward and smashed it open with brute strength, breaking the lock.
Jill: "Beats looking for a key. Wait—couldn't you have done that with the other door?"
Y/N: "Come to think of it… I could have."
Before they could enter, the ground began to shake violently beneath them.
Jill: "What the hell—?"
Y/N: "Do you hear that?"
A low rumble grew louder… water. A massive wave of water surged toward them from the main channel.
Y/N acted fast, shoving Jill through the doorway — but he didn't make it in time. The wave crashed into him, sweeping him away in its powerful current.
Jill: "Y/N!! NO!!!"
She fell to her knees, trembling as the water roared past.
Jill: "No, no, no—he won't die. He's stronger than this…"
She grabbed her radio.
Jill: "Carlos, I lost Y/N!"
Carlos: "What!? How did that happen!?"
Jill: "An explosion down here must've caused a flood—he got swept away."
Carlos: "Damn it!"
Jill: "Is the train ready?"
Carlos: "Yeah, we're waiting for you. But Nicholai's pressing to leave — you've got two hours max."
Jill: "Copy that. I'll find Y/N and get back."

Somewhere else…
Up on the surface, an empty street lay littered with broken cars and corpses.
A manhole cover suddenly clanged open — Y/N crawled out, soaked, coughing, and gasping for breath.
Y/N: "That— breathes heavily —was close…"
He looked up, spotting a massive illuminated building ahead.
Y/N: "Now… where the hell am I?"
