Zara swallowed, having no words left to say.
It seemed everything she'd said earlier hadn't gotten through to him at all — and honestly, she was too tired to try again.
"Please, Zara," Kendrick said softly, his voice laced with desperation, only deepening the guilt tightening in her chest.
Her gaze darted around. A staff member was watching them but quickly looked away when she met their eyes.
She knew how much effort Kendrick had put into planning this date. Why ruin it now?
"Fine." Zara took a deep breath. "Let's enjoy our day here," she said, wiping away her tears and forcing a smile.
Maybe it was time she truly made the effort to fall head over heels for this man. After all, she owed him her life.
She watched the relief wash over Kendrick's face, and for a fleeting moment, her heart felt a little lighter.
She stepped into his arms, wrapping her hands around him.
The hug lasted longer than expected — warm, comforting, and necessary.
