'What did we just do?' Evelynn squeaked to herself as they left the cafe and went outside. She felt both giddy at what they had done, leaving Samantha like that, and dread at the thought of the possible repercussions.
'Well, I won't be able to ignore them now,' she thought, as she walked quietly beside Matthew.
She had never spoken up against anyone in her family before, so she wasn't sure how they would react after Samantha had been blown off by Matthew.
Samantha was the golden child after all… So, even though Evelynn had planned to stand up for herself, she didn't think she would've been able to just get up and leave like Matthew had.
'But that might be the difference in our positions,' she mused.
Matthew was the heir of his family, and if he hadn't awakened and started to climb the tower, he would probably be working in their family's corporation right now, learning the ropes and preparing to take over one day.
