"So let's get this over with."

The shock was clear on the faces of the two women. It was obvious they had misjudged Adam, and seeing him there, staring at them with such intensity that it could crush them with just a glance, they immediately felt regret.

But how could they have known? How could they have guessed that this man, whom they had never seen before, was actually… an Angel?

An angel living as a human? It was unheard of. In fact, in millennia, this was the first time the two had ever witnessed such a thing.

To predict that they would encounter an Angel… was impossible.

"…" Kalawarna was the first to move, her fingers tightening around her light sword as she swallowed hard. "Encountering an Angel like this… Unexpected, but even so, he's just one."

Mittelt, who had been unsure of how to act until then, immediately regained a bit of courage when her companion's words reached her, a nervous smile forming on her lips. "Y-Yes, that's right!"

"And an angel collaborating with demons…" Kalawarna said, regaining her composure as she continued. "It seems to me that you're actually a fallen Angel… or perhaps close to falling."

She smiled, her reasoning restored due to the fading tension. "You're no different from us, yet you're still defending a useless human…"

"How shameful!"

"…"

They stared at Adam with malicious smiles, clearly recovered from the earlier intimidation and shock. As for the father of humanity, who had only listened in silence, he stared at them seriously for a moment…

Before confusion took over his expression, his head tilting slightly as he seemed to think.

"Angel…?" He blinked, taking a few seconds to finally understand, realization crossing his face. "Oh!"

His eyes traveled to his light sword, the golden glow standing out in the night like intense flames. It made sense that, upon seeing the weapon in his hand, they would assume he was an Angel, or even a fallen one.

Holy light weapons responded to their conjurer, so theoretically, they couldn't be stolen. Adam being able to take one was a unique case he still didn't fully understand.

It was normal for them to think that way, but even so… he couldn't help feeling a bit offended.

Especially when he was compared to them—fallen angels.

He was trying to set aside his prejudices, but in this situation… he decided to let a little of his old self slip through.

"An angel, huh?" Raising his sword, he pointed it at the two women, a small smile on his lips. "I'm nothing of the sort, but don't worry…"

He wasn't in the mood to clarify. Just like when they underestimated him earlier, they would soon realize they were wrong in another assumption too.

He would show them what a "useless human" was capable of.

"Come and let me show you what I am."

A powerful aura exploded from his body, pure killing intent aimed at his two opponents, who, in the face of such hostility, could barely move, their hair standing on end, fear settling in as they immediately wanted to flee.

Intimidated once more, they couldn't even react properly this time. How could they? This was, after all, the aura of someone who had fought countless battles over literal eras, spilling enough blood to fill a great lake.

A human condemned to mediocrity, but who, through pure hatred and resentment, had faced beings beyond comprehension.

Mere low-level fallen angels could never stand against this man—the first to come, the only one to bear original sin.

The father of humanity, and its eternal guardian.

"Get ready!" Kalawarna, recovering first, shouted urgently as she raised her sword.

!

But Mittelt, too slow, only reacted when a heavy kick hit her stomach, her wings flaring and flapping to stop her from falling off the rooftop.

Kalawarna growled as her companion was hit, and taking advantage of the proximity, tried to slash her target's throat. Adam, prepared, blocked easily with his own sword, although he was slightly surprised by the weight behind the attack… or rather, the lack of it.

With a push, he made Kalawarna stumble backward, giving him the opening to kick her in the stomach, causing her to bend slightly.

'That's surprising.' Taking advantage of her brief display of weakness, he grabbed her hair and threw her over his shoulder, even more surprised by how easily he executed the move. 'My strength is at a different level than when I fought Dohnaseek. Physically we were almost equal, but now…'

Kalawarna tried to open her wings to stop her fall, but before she could…

Swoosh!

"AAAAARG!"

A slash came—one of her wings was severed in half as she crashed onto the rooftop, screaming in agony as she clutched what was left of her black wing.

'That was way too easy.'

Adam didn't react to the woman's scream. Before coming here, he had cast a simple soundproofing spell Rias had given him at his request.

Knowing something like this would eventually happen, he had prepared.

And given that the environment was darker than usual, the fallen angels had done the same, so he wasn't worried about attracting unwanted attention.

He could cut loose freely.

"Bastard!"

Adam turned at the voice behind him, his eyes landing on an enraged Mittelt charging toward him, wings propelling her forward.

Clearly upset over her injured ally, she raised her spear and prepared to strike.

But unfortunately for her, as soon as she reached her target…

"So, you're the impatient one of the two…"

"?!"

Adam not only grabbed the spear's shaft but, in a display of the strength difference between them, held the tip just inches from his chest, leaving Mittelt staring at him wide-eyed as she struggled to push it forward.

"In a fight, that's not a good trait to have." Adam, looking down at her, mocked with an impassive expression. A vein pulsed on the woman's forehead as she glared at him, teeth clenched.

"Shut up—"

Bam!

A punch to her face shut her up instantly, blood flying from her nose as she stumbled backward, still gripping her spear.

Adam raised his sword, ready to finish her.

!

But shifting his light blade to the side just in time, he blocked a sword that had threatened to cut his head in half. He raised an eyebrow as he found two eyes staring at him with such fury that he swore they were about to pop out of their sockets.

"You bastard!" Kalawarna growled like a rabid animal, so furious that her teeth could be heard grinding. "I'll make you pay—"

Boom!

A powerful punch to her exposed stomach made her choke, blood escaping her lips as her legs trembled.

"I've heard that so many times." And Adam, watching her struggle to stay upright, stood imposingly in front of her and gently placed his hand on the top of her head. He felt her body tremble—not just from pain, but from rage too. "So don't make this battle worse than it already is."

A gesture that could be seen as humiliating—and indeed it was. But it was also a chance, a chance Adam was giving her. A chance to kneel and surrender.

A chance that was not taken.

"…Son of a bitch!"

She screamed, and knocking his hand away from her head, launched a horizontal slash, her sword glowing as she poured even more holy power into the attack. "Die!"

"…"

But to the fallen angel's shock, her most powerful attack, which should have shattered her opponent's defense, was abruptly stopped just inches from his head—blocked by a golden barrier that refused to give way.

And Adam, protected behind the barrier, just looked at the woman with a bit of pity. He knew what it was like to be powerless against an opponent, so he could at least relate…

Of course, that wouldn't change what would happen in the end.

'Magic barrier… I can see hundreds of applications in combat. Incredible.' He allowed himself a small smile as he saw the barrier easily resist the attack. 'I need to improve it when I have time.'

"Bastard, don't underestimate me!"

Adam rolled his eyes at Kalawarna's voice. It annoyed him a bit, but he knew he wouldn't have peace until he finished this.

!

So, undoing his barrier and allowing the woman's attack to continue its motion, he dodged it with a step to the side.

"Huh?" Kalawarna, surprised as she lost her balance for a moment, had no time to think before an attack came flying her way.

Swoosh!

A slash—a simple slash, but even so, the fallen angel could only accept it, unable to block or dodge.

A slash that, in this situation, was a finishing blow.

A strike that sealed her fate.

"…" Kalawarna's body collapsed to her knees, the light fading from her eyes as a cut slowly appeared around her entire neck.

Mittelt, who watched it all while holding her bleeding nose, showed fear as she saw her ally fall. "K-Kalawarna?"

She tried to call out, but with no response, Mittelt felt her courage vanish, her feet instinctively stepping back as her eyes landed on Adam's back, who continued watching Kalawarna's body in silence.

!

It wasn't until a few seconds later, when the fallen angel's body disintegrated into particles and black feathers, that he finally reacted—turning to face Mittelt with those same glowing eyes.

The woman trembled under his gaze, feeling herself shrink under the pressure. Her wings, previously open and ready to fly as far as possible, vanished into her back, because under this man's gaze, she knew she could never escape.

Leaving her with only two options—fight…

Or beg for mercy.

And when Adam began walking toward her, she didn't need to think twice. Dropping to her knees, she dispelled her spear, her hands raised in total surrender, sweat pouring down her face.

A choice that, under these conditions, was indeed wise. Raynare was strong, stronger than her, but Mittelt knew that if they fought, she'd still have a chance.

But against this man, who killed Kalawarna in seconds, and caught her spear like it was nothing…

She had no chance! Zero! None!

Her best chance was to surrender to survive! She'd even become a slave if she had to!

She wasn't ready to die!

"Do you know who I am?" Adam, still approaching, asked without looking away, making her nearly jump in fright.

"W-What?" Mittelt trembled, confused by the question.

But as Adam, still without an answer, stopped in front of her, she quickly replied.

"N-No! We only knew you saved the nun and killed Dohnaseek! That's all, I swear!"

"…"

Adam stared at her, noticing how she struggled to avoid his eyes, sweat pouring down her body—clear signs of her sincere fear.

'Damn…' Adam rubbed his chin at the situation. 'I don't like killing surrendered enemies…'

A sigh escaped his lips. If it were before, he wouldn't hesitate to cut her head off, but now… he couldn't.

Before, his mercy only extended to his descendants, but now… he was no longer at war.

There was no reason to kill someone who had clearly lost the will to fight.

'But I don't want to fully trust her either…' He clenched his chin, thinking deeply. 'What a dilemma…'

A decision that might seem simple, but for Adam—who had always eliminated his enemies, surrendered or not—it was something new, making it difficult to decide.

"…!"

His eyes turned to Mittelt, the fallen angel now seeming calmer, probably because she hadn't been decapitated like her companion.

Luckily, Adam could make use of her information, so for now, she'd be useful.

"Hey…"

Adam called her, making her immediately raise her head.

"Y-Yes?"

"Do you know how to cook?"

"…U-Uh?"

. . .

With a satisfied sigh, Asia came down the stairs with a relaxed expression, her new silky blue dress enhancing her natural beauty.

"Ah~ So nice!" She rubbed her neck. After a whole day helping with Adam's house renovations, a bath was revitalizing.

Sniff, sniff!

As soon as she reached the bottom of the stairs and stepped into the living room, her nose was immediately assaulted by a majestic smell—the scent of the wonderful food she now ate every day.

The same food prepared by the one who was so precious to her.

The one who, every time she saw him, filled her with so much happiness that she couldn't contain herself.

"Adam-sama!"

None other than her savior!

Skipping to the kitchen with bouncing steps, Asia radiated joy.

"Oh, Asia! The food's almost ready."

But just like that joy, it vanished when Asia came upon an unexpected scene.

"Eh?"

Beside Adam, wearing a lolita dress, a blonde girl looked a bit tense as she turned to see her, a forced smile on her lips as she waved.

"H-Hi."

"Hi." Asia's eyes narrowed.

Adam watched the interaction with a smile.

"Asia, meet Mittelt. She'll be working here as a maid for a while." And without any shame, he said it with a thumbs-up, completely unbothered.

"What?!"

The day hadn't ended how he expected… But he'd be lying if he said he didn't find it enjoyable.
