After finishing breakfast, Adam took Saki out for a walk around the city. Without being limited by money, there were no issues reaching the places they wanted to go.
But things became quite comical when Adam—who didn't really know the city—and Saki—who only knew her neighborhood and the route to school—got lost several times, forcing them to rely on her phone's GPS over and over.
They lost a fair amount of time, but gained several genuine laughs in return.
Despite the detours, the outing was pleasant, giving Adam ample time to better understand the girl.
Saki had been a little shy at first, but soon began to open up.
It was common for reclusive and socially anxious people to feel self-conscious about laughing in public, afraid it might draw attention or bother others.
So when Adam saw her laugh for the first time—during a comedy movie they stopped to watch because he'd recognized the actor, Adam Sandler—he felt genuinely happy.
It was another step toward restoring her self-esteem. And Adam was determined to keep that progress going.
Saki told him some childhood stories, like when her mother took her to an amusement park—a memory she cherished—or how her father introduced her to the arcade for the first time, sparking her love for video games.
Adam was content just listening. But after a few hours, Saki realized she'd done most of the talking.
So, despite feeling a little unsure, she started asking him questions.
The Father of Humanity, already expecting this moment to come, answered calmly and carefully.
He couldn't exactly tell her everything.
How old are you? "Oh, just about 10,000 years."
Job? "I used to work as a warrior—killing devils, fallen angels, and the occasional human. These days, I'm retired… mostly."
What do you like to do? "I train to become strong enough not to fear gods… and I also like cute things."
Favorite animal? "Elk. That one I can answer truthfully."
Clearly, those weren't answers he could just hand out. So whenever Saki asked about his life, he kept things vague, adding small pieces of truth here and there.
He doubted she'd tell anyone even if he did tell her everything, but it was better that she remained ignorant of the supernatural world.
Sure, just being around him already exposed her to danger—but if she actually knew the truth, it would only be a matter of time before that world pulled her in completely.
Maybe one day he'd reconsider. But for now, the answer was a firm no.
After a fun day in the city, they finally arrived at their original destination: the arcade. It was around four in the afternoon.
Saki, clearly excited, dragged Adam to all kinds of games.
By this point, her nervousness had all but vanished. Watching her explain each game with a kind of fierce enthusiasm, like she knew every one of them inside and out, Adam just followed her lead with a smile.
That went on for nearly two hours. Then, as the sun began to set, Adam decided it was time to head home.
Saki looked a bit disappointed that the day was ending.
But when he promised they'd do it again soon, her spirits lifted.
The walk back, dimly lit by the last rays of sunlight, was calm—filled with a quiet but comforting silence between them.
That is, until they neared her house.
"So, what did you think of today?" Adam asked casually, his eyes ahead, but subtly watching her reaction.
Saki didn't respond immediately, but the light blush on her cheeks gave away her answer.
She had loved every second of it.
Saki didn't know what a "real" date was supposed to feel like, but she'd played enough dating sims to be sure:
This was better than any of them.
Adam was handsome, kind, attentive—he genuinely cared about what she had to say.
Every word, every detail she shared, he listened to like it was precious. And he even used that knowledge to make their day together better.
He looked at her like she was the most important thing in the world—with those blue eyes that made her lose herself every time.
His voice felt warm, like a hug. She felt safe. Cared for. And maybe… just a little addicted to that feeling.
Was this love?
She didn't know. It was something new. Something she'd never felt before.
Was it normal to feel this way about someone she'd just met?
Probably not.
But she didn't care.
Adam wasn't just perfect…
He was perfect for her.
"I loved it," she said—quickly, sincerely—catching Adam off guard. He turned to look at her, surprised.
He… hadn't expected such honesty.
"I'm glad you did." He smiled warmly and gently ruffled her hair.
It was a small, almost unconscious gesture—one he'd done a few times throughout the day. Saki had been embarrassed at first, but eventually started to smile whenever he did it.
But this time, there was no shy smile on her face.
Instead, as they stood just outside her house, Saki's expression turned serious—so much so that Adam frowned in confusion.
He was about to ask if something was wrong…
When suddenly, she grabbed the front of his shirt.
!
And pulled him down into a kiss.
It was clumsy, unpracticed—but filled with tenderness and raw emotion. Adam could feel it clearly.
This wasn't a kiss born of a crush, or fleeting interest…
It was the kind of kiss Eve used to give him—full of longing and genuine love.
And it made him freeze.
"…"
When their lips finally parted, a thin trail of saliva stretched between them before fading.
Saki's face was as red as a kettle about to boil.
"Thank you for today!"
Then, with speed that almost seemed supernatural, she bolted inside her house.
Adam stood there, frozen, eyes wide, still processing what had just happened.
Until, finally, he came to a single conclusion.
"Shit."
He'd made a mistake.
. . .
Back at Adam's house, Mittelt had just finished the dishes and sat down on the couch, anxiety written all over her face.
"Where is he? He should've been home by now…"
Nervously biting her nail, she kept her eyes glued to the front door, hoping to hear it open at any moment.
Adam had said he'd be back around 6 p.m.—but it was already 30 minutes past that.
It irritated her… but more than anything, it made her anxious.
Sure, she feared Adam—but that didn't mean she didn't also fear Raynare. If her former leader managed to escape because of their delay, it was certain she'd be hunted down as a traitor.
And that was the last thing she wanted.
"He better show up—fast!"
"Who are you waiting for?"
"AAAAAH!!" Mittelt jumped like a startled kitten, spinning around.
"Oh! I'm so sorry, Mittelt-chan. I didn't mean to sneak up on you." Asia quickly bowed, genuinely apologetic.
She hadn't meant to startle her—Mittelt had just been so lost in thought that she hadn't noticed her come down the stairs.
"Dammit, don't do that again!" Mittelt grumbled, then let out a long sigh.
"So… who are you waiting for? Adam-sama?" Asia tilted her head.
Mittelt blinked, realizing she'd slipped up. Adam had told her not to let Asia know what they were planning.
"O-Oh, I… Yes." She decided not to lie. "I asked him to bring something important for me, so… I'm a little anxious."
"…"
Asia stared at her in silence. The atmosphere grew awkward fast.
Mittelt felt sweat trickling down her neck. She forced a nervous smile, uncomfortable under the girl's calm, piercing green eyes.
'What is with these two and their intense stares? Are they related or something?'
She wondered, trying not to squirm under Asia's gaze.
"...Rea—"
Click!
Just as Asia was about to speak, the front door opened.
"I'm back."
"Adam-sama!"
And immediately, he was met by a loving hug from Asia, who latched onto him like a clingy koala.
"Hello, Asia." He smiled and hugged her back, gently patting her head as she purred like a kitten.
Mittelt let out a huge sigh of relief, visibly relaxing.
'Intimidated by two humans… How humiliating.'
