Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: A Visit to Grigori

A Devil, an Angel, and a Fallen One Walk Into a Bar...

Kuroyami walked through the streets of Kuoh, his hands in his pockets, his usual lazy grin in place.

After the little "invitation" from Azazel, he figured he might as well see what the Fallen Angel wanted.

His instincts told him that Grigori wouldn't try anything hostile—not yet, at least.

As he walked, a familiar presence appeared beside him.

"Yo, Kuroyami-kun."

Without turning, he replied, "Rias."

Rias Gremory walked beside him, her arms crossed, her expression mixed with curiosity and concern.

"You're seriously going to meet Azazel just like that?"

Kuroyami shrugged. "Why not? He's a chill guy. Plus, if he tries anything… I'll just cut him in half."

Rias sighed. "You say that like it's normal."

Kuroyami smirked. "It is for me."

Rias frowned. "Still… the Fallen Angels are unpredictable. Be careful."

Kuroyami chuckled. "Appreciate the concern, Princess."

Rias rolled her eyes. "Just don't start a war while you're there."

Kuroyami waved as he continued walking. "No promises."

Welcome to Grigori

Arriving at Grigori's headquarters, Kuroyami was greeted by a massive research facility.

It was a stark contrast to the castles and gothic designs of the Underworld. This place felt more… modern.

The moment he entered, he was met with multiple Fallen Angels watching him closely.

Some looked curious.

Others? Wary.

Kuroyami smirked. "What? Never seen a handsome bastard before?"

One of the Fallen Angels—a tall, red-haired woman with golden eyes—stepped forward.

"You must be Kuroyami Saisei," she said, her tone neutral but slightly intrigued.

Kuroyami tilted his head. "And you are?"

"Penemue. One of the leaders of Grigori."

Kuroyami whistled. "Damn. Didn't expect to meet the big names so soon."

She smirked. "Azazel-sama is waiting for you."

She gestured for him to follow.

As he walked through the facility, he could feel the stares. Some were filled with caution. Others? Fear.

It seemed that word had spread.

Azazel's Offer

Azazel sat in his office, feet kicked up on the table, casually sipping a drink.

When Kuroyami entered, the Governor of the Fallen Angels grinned.

"Yo. Took you long enough."

Kuroyami lazily took a seat. "Traffic was a bitch."

Azazel chuckled. "I like you already."

He leaned forward, his golden eyes studying Kuroyami with undisguised curiosity.

"So, the human who fought Sirzechs and Michael without breaking a sweat. I gotta say, you're a real mystery."

Kuroyami smirked. "And you're a guy who's always after knowledge. What do you want?"

Azazel grinned. "Straight to the point. I like that."

He placed a silver briefcase on the table and slid it toward Kuroyami.

"Inside this case is a little 'welcome gift' from me."

Kuroyami raised an eyebrow but opened it anyway.

Inside…

A bracelet made of divine and demonic energy.

Azazel grinned. "That right there is something I've been working on—a stabilizer for high-level energy output. It allows the user to manipulate divine and demonic energy without the usual side effects."

Kuroyami inspected it for a moment before chuckling. "Let me guess… You want me to test it?"

Azazel smirked. "Bingo. And in return, I'll give you access to some of Grigori's finest research. Who knows? Maybe you'll find something useful."

Kuroyami stared at the bracelet before slipping it onto his wrist.

Immediately, he felt a shift in his energy.

The divine and demonic forces within the bracelet tried to influence him—only to be completely suppressed by his own overwhelming power.

Kuroyami smirked. "Not bad."

Azazel laughed. "Man, you're a monster. That thing should take time to adjust, but you just overpowered it instantly."

Kuroyami leaned back. "So, what else do you want?"

Azazel's grin faded slightly, turning more serious.

"There's something big coming, Kuroyami. Something even I can't fully predict."

Kuroyami's eyes narrowed. "Go on."

Azazel tossed him a small folder.

Inside were photos of strange phenomena—dimensional distortions, unexplained energy signatures, and sightings of ancient beings.

Azazel's voice was calm, but there was an underlying tension.

"Something's waking up."

Kuroyami flipped through the pages, his smirk widening.

"Now this… sounds interesting."

Azazel nodded. "Thought you'd say that."

He leaned forward, golden eyes sharp.

"So, what do you say? Wanna work together?"

Kuroyami chuckled. "I don't do alliances."

Azazel smirked. "I figured. But at the very least, let's keep in touch."

Kuroyami stood up, stretching. "Fine. But if this 'big thing' turns out to be boring, I'm blaming you."

Azazel laughed. "Deal."

As Kuroyami turned to leave, Azazel called out one last time.

"Oh, and Kuroyami?"

Kuroyami glanced back.

Azazel's grin was wide, but his tone was dead serious.

"Try not to break the world too soon. We kinda need it."

Kuroyami chuckled. "No promises."

And with that, he walked out.

Meanwhile… in the Shadows

Unbeknownst to Kuroyami, far beyond Kuoh, something else was moving.

In a dark dimension filled with chaotic energy, two glowing red eyes opened.

A deep, ancient voice rumbled.

"Finally… the balance is shifting."

A clawed hand tore through space itself.

The world trembled.

Something old was waking up.

And it had taken an interest in Kuroyami Saisei.
