Chapter 351 - The Crack in the Wall (5)

"Roar!!!"

This time the giant infected began to run toward Jason, its speed much faster than normal walkers, though not as fast as the swift ones.

By then, Jason had already raised the barrel of his pistol, and taking the initiative, he started shooting again and again. First at the creature's thin knee which, unlike its massive right arm, wasn't thick enough to withstand a large amount of damage.

After that shot, Jason continued firing, moving closer with the edge of his knife raised toward its chin.

Bang Bang Bang!

After shooting his enemy in the head again, Jason knew this was his chance, and ignoring the pain in his body, he lunged at the giant. The edge of his knife pierced the infected's neck again and again.

After combining his attacks and realizing that this giant infected couldn't be killed with a headshot, Jason decided that the best and safest way was to completely tear off his enemy's head.

As for how to deal with the consequences, Jason truly had no idea, but the one thing he was sure of was that he had to eliminate his enemy.

The two had already closed the distance to about two meters, and Jason, who had been firing continuously, heard the click of his pistol, letting him know he was out of ammo.

Even though it was a life-or-death battle, Jason didn't want to involve anyone else. He wanted to test how strong he had become—if this was the right way to keep advancing or if he was completely mistaken.

If he didn't currently have the advantage of having wounded the monster's strongest arm—the one he had to be cautious of—right now he would be running instead of attacking. But this was his only option for now.

This was an enclosed area, and before he could call for help or George could fire the hook, he might die at the hands of this giant infected. So for now, it was essential to rely solely on his own strength and nothing else.

Boom!

Jason attacked head-on, relying on his advantage, trusting in the edge of his knife and in the speed with which he stabbed his enemy's neck. Again and again without stopping, blood began to gush out, and even though the infected grabbed him with its enormous hand, Jason trusted that the hand had no claws.

Roar!!!

The constant stabs seemed to drive the infected into desperation, as Jason's strength made it difficult for the creature to bring its body close enough to bite him. And just when Jason felt his hands going numb, the infected's massive hand grabbed his body and flung him across the room.

Boom!

Jason knew he was fighting aggressively, but this was the only way he could defeat the enemy quickly. He couldn't rely on anything else; this was his only method to eliminate this infected.

Lying on the ground, Jason saw in a blur how the enormous infected staggered from side to side as blood streamed from its neck. He had inflicted massive damage, so now he felt sure he was close to winning.

But his body was not in good condition; the hard, powerful blows had caused him several difficulties, making it hard to move freely.

Once he stood up, he looked at the long glass windows, and after hesitating for a moment, he broke all the glass. He walked over to the window and turned his back to it, then grabbed the radio and informed George: "Zz… George, don't fire the hook yet…"

"Zz… Boss, what's happening?"

George was very confused. He had heard all the commotion in the building Jason was in. If he didn't get a report from his boss soon, George was sure he'd send all the soldiers outside to clear the building.

At first, he thought there were only a few more walkers inside, but after hearing Jason's tired voice, he knew things weren't as simple as he had thought. Making a decision, he looked at Jason, who stood with his back to the window in silence.

"Zz… I'll wait for your orders, sir!"

"Zz… Very well…"

Jason didn't feel like talking now. He was completely focused on his enemy, who seemed to have entered a state of madness.

Roar!

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The heavy footsteps echoed in the office room, cracking the floor under the weight of the giant infected. Its eyes locked on Jason with an overwhelming desire to kill; right now, all it cared about was making sure Jason didn't escape.

Running at great speed, it charged toward Jason.

"Yes, come to me!"

Jason smiled coldly, taking a pistol in his hand and aiming at it. After pulling the trigger, the roar of the gun echoed, and countless projectiles flew toward the giant infected with the sole purpose of provoking it.

Once Jason knew the giant infected had gone into a frenzy, he grabbed a wire fixed to the floor, and once he tested its resistance, he let go of his pistol.

If this worked, he would kill the giant infected with far more intelligence and ease than in his current state.

Jason took a deep breath and closed his eyes, listening to his enemy's footsteps and visualizing his surroundings. He knew exactly what he was about to do. So once he made the decision to move, feeling the cold air at his back blowing in from the outside of the building at a frightening height, he let his body fall backward.

Faced with this unexpected move, the giant infected had no idea what Jason was trying to do. With an instinctive reaction to attack, it followed Jason and, without understanding what was going to happen next, hurled itself out the window.

Roar!

Jason, holding tightly to the wire, watched as the giant infected fell into his trap, plummeting from a height of more than twenty meters. For any living being, regardless of size, certain death awaited.

"Damn it!"

Jason, who was swinging from side to side because of the wire, placed his hand on the floor of the level he had fallen from and climbed up with difficulty. This was the best plan he could think of given the situation, so now all that was left was for the outside team to confirm whether the enemy was completely dead.

Moments before Jason tricked the giant infected, the group in the other building had heard the loud noises—sounds that didn't belong to any beast or walker they knew.

"I'm sure that roar isn't normal. Are we still going to wait for Jason to die, or do we go now and help him?" Daryl was losing patience. What did orders matter if they only led to death?

Rick agreed. No matter what Jason wanted, the only thing that mattered was ensuring no one got hurt or killed.

"I agree. We'll wait a few more minutes." George knew something wasn't right, but then he looked at Abraham, who was standing still, staring at the other building. Immediately, he fixed his gaze in the same direction.

In the distance, Jason had broken the glass of a long window and then turned his back toward the drop, as if he were escaping from something.

"What is he doing?"

"Zz… George, don't fire the hook yet…"

"Zz… Boss, what's happening?"

George waited silently for an answer, but when Jason didn't want to say more about the situation, he waited—and then he saw the giant infected with his own eyes.

A monster more than two meters tall with a massive body falling toward the void. Everyone froze, unsure if what they had just seen was real or not.

Roar!

That thing… really exists?

How were they supposed to survive if they had to face a monster like that?

"Zz… Confirm death. Shoot if necessary, and after taking some photos, burn the corpse."

Jason's voice came through immediately, and only then did everyone react. Both the soldiers on the ground and the people in the buildings looked toward the place where the giant had fallen, and all of them looked at Jason with fear.

How could he be in one piece after fighting something like that?
