At the Uzumaki residence, the evening had settled into a quiet warmth.
As soon as Naruto stepped inside, Hinata greeted him with her usual gentle smile and immediately tugged him toward their room. In the kitchen, Kushina was finishing up the dishes, while Minato, much like Sakumo Hatake in his own home, sat in the living room casually reading the newspaper.
The moment Hinata led Naruto away, Kushina blinked thoughtfully. Then, as if struck by a sudden idea, she wiped her hands, turned to Minato, and said brightly, "Minato, come on! Let's go out for a walk. Bring the trash while you're at it!"
Minato looked up from his paper, a bit startled.
"Kushina, it's already dark. Why are we going out now?"
Kushina's fiery glare silenced him instantly. "Less talking, more walking! Just do as I say."
Years of experience told Minato not to argue when the Red-Hot Habanero used that tone. He quickly got up, took out the garbage, and followed her toward the door.
Before stepping out, Kushina called toward Naruto's room with exaggerated casualness, "Naruto, Hinata, your dad and I are heading out! It's boring at home, so we'll be gone for a few hours. Don't wait up, go ahead and rest early!"
A muffled "Okay, Mom!" came from Naruto's room. Kushina smirked triumphantly and pulled Minato along.
Once they were downstairs, Minato tossed the trash bag aside and looked at her in confusion. "Kushina… what are we doing exactly?"
She folded her arms, giving him an incredulous look. "You're supposed to be a genius tactician, and you can't figure this out?"
Minato blinked, clueless. "Figure what out?"
Kushina sighed and tapped her foot. "Didn't you see Hinata practically pounce on Naruto the second he walked in? That wasn't just excitement, Minato. When she grabbed his hand, our son looked terrified — terrified!"
Minato raised an eyebrow. "You could see that?"
Kushina gave him a smug look. "Of course I could! I'm his mother. I can read his face better than anyone."
Minato had no counter for that, so he stayed quiet.
Kushina continued, lowering her voice dramatically. "And when Hinata pulled Naruto into their room, that look of panic got even worse! But he tried to play it off when he saw us watching. That means he doesn't want us to know what's going on."
She nodded firmly. "So, based on all that, it's obvious — Hinata dragged him into the room to... ahem... spend some private time together."
Minato nearly choked. "Wait, what!? You can tell that from just one look?"
Kushina smirked. "Because I've seen that exact same look — on you!"
Minato froze, a bead of sweat forming. "Wha—hey! When did I—"
"Oh, please," Kushina teased, looping her arm around his. "Don't think I forgot the night you said you had a sudden mission after dinner. Later, I found out you were guarding the Konoha gates all night just to avoid me!"
Minato's face went red. "So you knew about that…"
"Of course I did!" Kushina huffed, then poked his cheek playfully. "You and Naruto really are alike."
Minato sighed. "So, let me guess — you pulled me out of the house to give them privacy?"
Kushina grinned. "Exactly. Why else would I shout so loud before leaving?"
Minato frowned slightly, a trace of concern in his voice. "But if Naruto looked scared, shouldn't we stop them? Maybe he doesn't—"
"Oh, relax," Kushina interrupted with a dismissive wave. "He's got the Nine-Tails inside him. He's not that fragile. At worst, he'll just be... a little tired."
Minato's eyes widened in disbelief. "Kushina! You always say you love Naruto the most, and now you're—"
Kushina cut him off with a deep sigh, her expression softening. "Of course I love my son, Minato. But I also want my grandson."
Then she tugged his sleeve dramatically. "I can't bear to let go of my son, but I can't get my grandson either! Now come on — let's go shopping while they… bond."
Minato stared at her, speechless.
So that's what this was about.
She didn't want Naruto to suffer — she just really wanted a grandchild.
He smiled helplessly. "You never change, Kushina."
"Of course not," she said proudly. "Now move it, slowpoke!"
Back at Naruto's house —
Inside the room, Naruto was still recovering from the chaos of his parents' sudden "outing."
Hinata, still holding his hand, smiled knowingly. "See, Naruto-kun? Our parents went out on purpose. They're giving us time alone."
Naruto's eye twitched. So Mom really did plan this…
He rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "Hinata, uh… don't you think this is a little suspicious? They left way too fast."
Hinata giggled softly, stepping closer. "You're overthinking it, Naruto-kun."
Naruto sighed, his expression somewhere between nervous and amused. "You're just like my mom — planning things behind my back."
Hinata's cheeks turned pink, but her eyes glowed with that familiar determination. "Naruto-kun… it's been so long since we've had any time for ourselves."
Naruto raised his hands defensively. "Wait, wait, Hinata! Didn't you just say the doctor was checking you recently? Shouldn't we be careful?"
Hinata blinked, then smiled sheepishly. "Oh, that? I already went to the hospital. Everything's fine."
Naruto relaxed a little. "Really? You went by yourself? What did the doctor say?"
She leaned closer, her voice playful. "That we should… try a little harder."
Naruto's face turned crimson. "Eh!? Try—wait, what does that even mean!?"
Hinata crossed her arms and pouted. "It means you keep avoiding me, Naruto-kun. I'm being proactive here, and you're acting like I'm scary!"
Naruto panicked at the sight of tears forming in her eyes. "O-okay, okay! I'm sorry, Hinata! You win!"
Hinata smiled triumphantly and pulled him into a hug.
Outside, the night breeze rustled through the window curtains. The scene slowly faded as laughter and whispered words filled the room — their warmth lingering like the faint glow of moonlight.
Later that night, Naruto and Hinata lay side by side beneath the sheets.
Hinata rested her head against his chest, smiling softly. "Hey, Naruto-kun… can I tell you something?"
Naruto turned to her, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "Yeah, what is it?"
She hesitated for a moment, then said quietly, "Our parents won't always give us this kind of time. What if… we got a bigger place? Just for us."
Naruto chuckled, pinching her nose lightly. "You don't have to ask your dad for that, you know. I've got enough saved."
Hinata shook her head. "You've spent so much on the wedding already. I just want to help."
Naruto smiled, pulling her a little closer. "You're amazing, you know that?"
Hinata's cheeks flushed again, but she smiled, content. The night grew quiet, peaceful — the kind of warmth Naruto never thought he'd have when he was a lonely kid dreaming of family.
