Hinata was stunned when she saw the title of the book.
She knew that Icha Icha Paradise was a novel written by Master Jiraiya, but what on earth was this comic version — and who had drawn it?
Hinata flipped through the manga, her pale lavender eyes scanning the pages curiously. To her surprise, not all of it contained adult content. Much of it told the story and humor of Jiraiya's writing — only at certain moments did a few "questionable" scenes appear.
There was a soft snap as Hinata quickly shut the book, her cheeks burning red.
Hanabi, who had been watching her sister from the doorway, noticed the blush and grinned mischievously.
"Ne, Sister… have you and Naruto—"
Before Hanabi could finish, Hinata rolled her eyes and lightly bonked her younger sister on the head with the book.
"Why are children asking so many questions?"
"Ow!" Hanabi yelped, rubbing her head. "I was just asking! Why hit me for that?"
Hinata sighed, still flustered. "Tell me, Hanabi — where did you even get this book?"
Hanabi tilted her head, smiling cheekily. "From the bookstore outside the compound. Sister, don't you know? This manga is crazy popular right now! All the bookstores are selling out! People are saying it's an adaptation of Jiraiya-sama's novel Icha Icha Paradise! He's the author!"
Hanabi puffed out her chest proudly, as if that made it perfectly acceptable to own the book.
"After all, Jiraiya-sama was one of the Legendary Sannin — and he was Naruto's teacher! So it's not a bad thing to read something written by him, right?"
Hinata could only stare at her sister in disbelief. Hanabi clearly had no idea what she was reading. With another small sigh, Hinata tapped her on the head again.
"You're still underage, Hanabi. You shouldn't be reading something like this!"
Hanabi pouted. "But it's an adaptation of Jiraiya-sama's work! That means it's fine! Everyone's buying it — and now people are reselling it for double the price!"
Hinata blinked in surprise. "It's selling that well?"
Hanabi nodded eagerly. "Of course! Sister, even the one you're holding now — if I took it outside, I could sell it for enough to buy a full barbecue dinner!"
Hinata stared down at the comic, genuinely surprised by how popular it had become.
"Well, regardless of how much it's worth, you're not eighteen yet. You can't read this sort of thing. I'm confiscating it."
With that, she tucked the manga away into her bag.
"Hey! That's mine!" Hanabi protested, trying to grab it back, but Hinata easily dodged her and stood firm.
Meanwhile, in the main hall of the Hyuga Compound, Hyuga Hiashi and Naruto were sitting together, engaged in a surprisingly lively conversation.
Naruto's natural warmth and straightforwardness had completely won Hiashi over. Every topic Naruto brought up — from leadership and peace to family values — resonated perfectly with Hiashi's own views.
Hiashi laughed heartily. "Hahaha! Naruto, I never imagined we'd see eye to eye on so many things!"
Naruto grinned sheepishly. "I didn't expect that either, Father-in-law — I mean, Dad."
Hiashi chuckled proudly. "You're officially family now. No need to be so formal!"
From the side, Hyuga Hizashi smiled warmly. "Brother, I must say, you're lucky. Naruto truly is a fine son-in-law."
Hiashi waved his hand dismissively but smiled with obvious pride. "Let's not stand around talking! Come, let's eat. We can continue chatting over dinner."
As they entered the dining hall, Hiashi gestured to one of the servants.
"Go call Hinata and Hanabi. Tell them it's time to eat."
"Yes, Hiashi-sama." The maid hurried upstairs and gently knocked on the door.
"Hinata-sama, Hanabi-sama, Hiashi-sama requests that you come down for dinner."
Hanabi, still sulking, crossed her arms. Hinata gave her sister a knowing look and said softly, "Come on, Hanabi. If you don't come now, Father will notice."
Hanabi froze for a moment, then quickly stood up, grumbling under her breath, and followed Hinata out the door.
The maid blinked in confusion. "Hinata-sama… is everything all right?"
Hinata smiled reassuringly. "Don't worry about her. She'll be fine in a bit."
The maid nodded and stepped aside as the sisters made their way downstairs.
At the dinner table, the four of them sat down. Hiashi personally picked up a dish and offered it to Naruto.
"Here, Naruto. Try this — it's one of our clan's specialties."
Naruto smiled warmly. "Thanks, Dad!"
Hiashi's stern face softened at the word "Dad." Seeing Naruto so polite and respectful filled him with pride.
Hinata and Hanabi exchanged a surprised glance. Their father — who was normally so strict — was treating Naruto with rare affection. What in the world had happened?
Hanabi turned her head away again, refusing to look at Hinata, still pretending to be mad about her manga. Hinata just smiled faintly. Her little sister was easy to read — she knew Hanabi would come around after a while.
The atmosphere at the table was peaceful, warm, and filled with laughter — something that rarely happened in the Hyuga household. In the past, Hiashi's strictness had made meals silent and formal. But now, with Naruto present, it felt like a family gathering filled with light.
After the meal, Naruto stayed for a while longer, chatting with Hiashi about the future of the clan and the village. Around mid-afternoon, Hinata finally stood up, smiling politely.
"Dad, Uncle, we'll be going now."
Hiashi nodded approvingly. "All right. Come visit more often, Naruto."
"Of course!" Naruto said with his usual grin.
The two waved goodbye and walked out of the compound together.
On the quiet streets outside the Hyuga residence, Hinata seemed distracted, glancing at Naruto several times but hesitating to speak. Naruto noticed and looked at her curiously.
"Hinata, is something wrong?"
Hinata bit her lip softly, then reached into her bag and pulled out the manga.
"Here, take a look at this."
Naruto blinked in surprise when he saw the cover.
"Icha Icha Paradise — the comic version? It came out already?"
Hinata's expression sharpened slightly; her instincts told her that Naruto's tone sounded just a bit too familiar.
"Wait a second… Naruto, do you know who made this?"
Naruto chuckled nervously, scratching the back of his head. "Uh… well… it's kind of a long story, Hinata."
"It's okay," she said, crossing her arms gently. "I'd like to hear it."
Naruto sighed, defeated, and began to explain. He told her everything — that Jiraiya-sensei had decided to adapt his own novel into a manga, and had asked Sai to illustrate it. The comic was meant to raise funds for something important, and Naruto had simply helped finance it.
When Hinata heard the explanation, her expression softened.
"Oh… so it was for Jiraiya-sensei. I see."
She smiled gently, her tone calm again. "That makes sense."
But then, when she turned back toward Naruto, she caught him still flipping through the comic with a suspiciously fascinated look on his face. His blue eyes were wide and focused — a little too focused — on a certain page.
"Ehehe… well, Jiraiya-sensei really had… uh… creativity," Naruto murmured, trying not to grin.
Hinata's eyebrow twitched. "Naruto…"
Before he could react, she pinched his ear and pulled it sharply.
"Let's go home. Now."
"Ow, ow, ow! Hinata, wait, it hurts!" Naruto yelped, stumbling after her.
Hinata's eyes narrowed dangerously. "You looked very interested in that book, didn't you? Well then, since you're so full of energy, we'll discuss that enthusiasm properly — at home!"
Naruto winced, laughing awkwardly. "Hahaha, okay okay! I'm coming!"
The villagers passing by watched as Hinata dragged the bewildered Hokage by the ear down the street, their laughter echoing in the evening air.
