COMBAT AND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT UPDAT

The road back to Maya Village was long, and August had learned long ago not to waste time doing nothing in these long roads ahead of him.

Finnester glided in easy thermal circles overhead, occasionally dipping low enough that August could see the sharp amber glint of the young eagle's eye sweeping across the terrain below. The column marched at a steady pace behind them, there was no urgency now, no enemy at their back to worry about and August rode a six-legged horse near the front, it was with the particular focused quiet he had always shown when he was in deep thought, it was of someone turning their attention inward rather than outward.

He opened his Personal Panel and began the equipment review he had been putting off since before the Kirka operation. There had been no good moment for it during the campaign itself. Now there was nothing but time and the winding open roads that followed the contour or the land and it would eventually lead them back home.

The first thing that struck him, as it always did when he ran a proper review rather than a glance, was how far the collection of his equipment had come. He had started with just the chiefs hunting bow and stitched leather. It was in retrospect of what he carried now was the product of years of accumulated battles, a craftsman's genius locked inside his Personal System, and the materials sourced from creatures most people in this world would never see and certainly would never survive an encounter with.

He moved through it methodically, piece by piece.

COMBAT ACCESSORIES

DIVINE (rarity) — CLASS V — MYTHICAL (grade) — BEAST CORE AMULET 'ZIRICK AMPLIFIED'

The amulet did not look like what it was. It rested against his chest beneath his armor as a small, dark object with a faintly iridescent surface, it was the kind of thing a person might glance at and dismiss as ordinary. Administrator Magnus had a talent for that: making things that could level a battlefield look like they belonged on a market stall.

What was inside it was a different matter. Over a hundred Regular Boss-ranked beast cores had gone into its construction, creatures August had hunted across the years of combat in Lonelywoods, beasts that had each represented a genuine threat at the time of their deaths. Ten Guardian Beast Boss Rank cores were woven into it as well, drawn from the behemoths that fell during the Beast Dominion Wars, including fragments from those among the allied guardian beasts who died defending the forest. And at the center of it, a sliver of something that had cost more than any conventional material: a fragment of Pico's core. The Wise Old Owl, Arbiter Guardian Beast of the Lonely Forest of Shadowfen, the architect of the war that had nearly consumed all of Lonelywood's Forest Northern Region, it was a piece of her power, preserved and repurposed. It felt appropriate, in a way August did not need to say out loud.

The Zirick gemstone, Emperor Janus's gift, is set into the amulet's face. The gemstone pulses faintly in darkness, a deep blue-violet that sharpens to white at its center. Its amplification of lightning element capability integrates cleanly with August's existing affinity, and the mana regeneration it provides runs constantly in the background like a second heartbeat. No artisan alive could have built this. Magnus works on a level that has nothing to do with just simple hands and hammers.

DIVINE (rarity) — CLASS V — MYTHICAL (grade) — BEAST CORE RINGS (LEFT AND RIGHT) 'ZIRICK AMPLIFIED'

The rings were paired, worn on the middle finger of each hand, and they shared the same construction philosophy as the amulet, each containing a dense lattice of beast cores with matching Zirick integration. Where the cores' elemental affinities aligned with August's own fire, wind, and lightning, they amplified. Where they did not, the system converted the incompatible energy into a steady mana and health recovery rate instead, wasting nothing.

The party-wide healing effect had been upgraded since its last iteration. The threshold that triggered it remained consistent, when the party's overall HP and MP fell to fifty percent, but the radius had expanded and the recovery rate had deepened. In the worst moments of the Beast Dominion Wars, that passive trigger had kept people alive who are part of his party or they would not have survived their injuries otherwise. August was disinclined to underestimate it.

DIVINE (rarity) — CLASS V — MYTHICAL (grade) — THE BLURRED DEVIL'S MASK

The mask had changed significantly since he had first worn it. He did not know exactly when the particular shift had happened or whether it was gradual or sudden, whether it occurred during some specific battle or if it was accumulated across many. But the mask was no longer simply imposing. It was something stranger than that.

Those who faced him with clean consciences described it differently than those who did not. To some, the face of it appeared almost luminous, it was angular but calm, severe but not cruel, the way a guardian might look rather than a predator. To others, those who had earned the fear it had provided, it was something from a different category of experience entirely. The 100% Fear effect it carried was not a debuff applied at a distance. It was the mask showing those people something they recognized from the inside.

It had been rebuilt from materials gathered across everything he had fought and survived. Every beast, every campaign, every war that had shaped him was physically present in its construction. It fit like a second face and weighed almost nothing.

COMBAT ARMOR

DIVINE (rarity) — CLASS V — MYTHICAL (grade) — MYTHERIUM-ENHANCED 'GUARDIAN' ARMOR SET 'ZIRICK AMPLIFIED'

Every major beast August had slain or meaningfully participated in defeating contributed material here. Arborwyrm scale and Scythe Stalker exoskeleton formed the foundational layer, materials earned in his earliest years of combat in Lonelywoods. Armored Arachnid carapace, stitched with the Queen's own silk thread, provided the structural plate work. Grimfang hide ran through the interior lining and hooded cape. The exoskeletons and hides of enemy Guardian Beast-rank behemoths killed during the Beast Dominion Wars, creatures whose mere presence alone had reshaped the terrain around them — were integrated into the outer shell, their density surpassing anything available from lesser beasts. The claws and carapace segments of the Glistening Dread Queen, stripped from her corpse after the battle at Lonelywoods, contributed edge-hard plating along the arm and leg pieces, their acid-resistant outer shell repurposed into protection rather than destruction. Pico's talons — that shadow-enhanced weapon, an Arbiter-forged part of her, each one capable of tearing through Ozythalos' legendary scales — were worked into the gauntlets and greaves, giving August's strike pieces a material sourced from the single most powerful enemy he had ever faced. A single feather-fiber from Pico herself is pressed into the torso, not as a trophy but as a reminder.

None of these materials belong together. By nature, by origin, by the kills they came from, they should not cohere. Mytherium is what makes them one thing rather than many. It is not woven through the set or inscribed along its interior. It is fused into the entirety of it, present in every seam and surface, the reason these pieces of a dozen incompatible kills hold together as a single armor. And it is not passive in that role. The Mytherium responds to the power of its user, it learns, recognizes, grows alongside its user, and it channels its power, amplifies it, and gives it shape.

At maximum exertion, the Mytherium makes the armor glow. Not visibly under normal conditions, as the exterior reads its original intended purpose as a dark, matte, heavy and could blend into the forest environment. But in true combat at full power, streaks of golden lightning move across the armor's surface like veins, and even in total darkness August becomes visible as something that does not belong to the natural world. The weight reduction means he moves as if he wears nothing. That has always been the hallmark of Magnus's work, a protection that does not announce itself in how you move.

---

MYTHERIUM BINDING — AMPLIFICATION NOTE

*Mytherium is fused into every surface and seam across all six pieces. It does not add flat stats independently — it amplifies all existing rank-derived Primary Stat and Sub-Stat values by +50%, reading and multiplying the power flowing through the armor in real time.*

COMBAT WEAPONS

CLASS V — MYTHICAL (grade) — DORGON'S FANG

The sword had not changed since Emperor Janus placed it in his hands, and it did not need to. Dorgon's Fang grows with its bearer. The blade is forty inches of dark crimson metal with veins of molten orange that never cool and never stop moving. Perfectly balanced for one-handed use despite its length. When August draws it, the air near the edge shimmers with suppressed heat. He had once driven it through the side of a stone fortification wall to see what happened. He would not be describing that experiment to anyone.

DIVINE (rarity) — CLASS V — MYTHICAL (grade) — AUGUST'S CUSTOMIZED WEAPON SET

The weapons cache in his pouch had grown substantially. The core set — bow, broad sword and shield, spear, daggers — remained the foundation, but the inventory now extended to two axes (standard and great axe), a warhammer, a polearm, a hundred javelins, and a hundred spare daggers alongside the longsword. Magnus built everything to the same standard: Armored Arachnid materials wherever sharpness or structural density was required, Arborwyrm components where weight reduction and magical conductivity mattered, K'tharr scythe integration at any edge that needed to pierce heavy armor, Glistening Dread Queen mandible fragments and clawed appendage tips at every cutting surface that needed to be something more than sharp, Pico's talon material at every piercing point that needed to reach through what no ordinary weapon could, and behemoth structural hide worked into the cores and handles of the two-handed set where pure impact density mattered more than anything else.

The practical arrangement remained unchanged from his preference: weapons used most frequently physically present on his body, hung and strapped in positions he had trained until retrieval was faster than conscious thought. When he wanted a clean exterior profile — formal occasions, negotiations — the armor's Feather's Memory function cleared the visible loadout in seconds. He had used that function exactly twice and found it profoundly uncomfortable both times.

| Bloodhound Weapon Steel (melted) | Defeated Bloodhound raiders | Blade core structure — broad sword, longsword |

| Mytherium | Recovered from Kirin Raiders | Enchantment conductor — melded into the armor |

> Wrathalios contributed no materials. The source confirms his body was consumed entirely by divine white fire — every fragment disintegrated before reaching the ground. Nothing was recoverable.

 BOW AND ARROWS

Built from flexible dense forest wood with Grimfang and Arborwyrm design work at the limbs. Bowstring is Armored Arachnid silk — steel-strength, indefinite elasticity. Arrows use naturally molted Peregrine Eagle chick feathers for fletching. Arrow tips are reinforced with Pico's beak fragment layering, ground to micro-precision points capable of penetrating shadow-resistant targets that standard tips cannot reach.

 BROAD SWORD AND SHIELD

Thirty-five-inch blade built on a Bloodhound steel core, layered with Skitterpig and Grimfang fang material, Arborwyrm claws, and K'tharr scythes. The primary cutting edge is reinforced with Glistening Dread Queen mandible fragment — a material that snapped ancient tree trunks in the source creature and now provides an edge operating at a category above ordinary cutting surfaces. The shield integrates Arborwyrm scale, K'tharr exoskeleton, and Arachnid carapace with an outer facing of behemoth structural hide — the same material that withstood terrain-reshaping impacts during the Beast Dominion Wars.

 LONGSWORD

Forty-five-inch blade on the same Bloodhound steel and Grimfang/Arborwyrm base as the broad sword. K'tharr scythes run the primary edge. Glistening Dread Queen clawed appendage tips are integrated at the upper third of the blade where sustained pierce capability matters most. Pico's talon material reinforces the tip — the point of this blade can reach through shadow-layered defenses that would stop conventional enchanted steel. Designed for open engagements where shield use is impractical.

Single-handed war axe. Arachnid carapace and K'tharr exoskeleton over Mytherium-inlaid steel core. Handle wrapped in Grimfang hide for grip. Glistening Dread Queen mandible fragment and needle teeth form the serrated lower arc of the blade — the combination creates a cutting surface that both shears and tears, designed to strip through layered armor rather than simply impact it.

 GREAT AXE

A Two-handed weapon. The head is an Arachnid carapace over a behemoth bone core — that core is the key difference from the standard axe. Behemoth structural material survived the Beast Dominion Wars' terrain-reshaping impacts. Packed into the axe head it creates mass and hardness that no conventional crafting material could replicate. K'tharr scythe integration runs the inner curve of the blade. Glistening Dread Queen mandible and needle teeth layer the outer cutting arc. The handle is five feet of Arborwyrm-reinforced ironwood with Grimfang hide grip. The -100% weight reduction enchantment is the only reason it is practical to carry without announcement.

 WARHAMMER

A Two-handed weapon. Constructed around a behemoth bone core encased in Armored Arachnid carapace plates and reinforced along the impact face with compressed K'tharr exoskeleton. The behemoth core is the reason this weapon exists at the level it does — nothing else in August's material inventory could give a warhammer head the density required to destroy fortifications and disrupt high-tier magical barriers. The Queen's mandible fragments run along the side faces for secondary cutting capability on glancing hits. The handle is five feet of Arborwyrm-reinforced ironwood. The warhammer carries no primary edge. Its purpose is concussive force and structural destruction, and it delivers both without compromise.

 POLEARM

A Two-handed weapon. Standing at nine feet with a head that combines a broad lateral blade with a rear spike. The shaft is Arborwyrm-reinforced hardwood with a behemoth bone core running the central length — giving the shaft genuine resistance to being shattered under Guardian Beast-level impact forces. The blade is an Arachnids leg over K'tharr scythe with a Glistening Dread Queen mandible fragment along the cutting edge. The rear spike is Pico's talon material — shadow-enhanced and capable of piercing Ozythalos' legendary scales in the final battle of the war, now the single sharpest piercing point in the weapon set outside of Dorgon's Fang.

 SPEAR AND THROWING SPEAR

Eight feet. Tip fused from Bloodhound weapons, Arborwyrm claws, K'tharr scythes, Arachnid legs, and Pico's talon material at the very point. A shadow-enhanced talon that penetrated Ozythalos' scales in the final battle of the war now forms the terminal piercing layer of August's primary reach weapon. The throwing spear matches identically.

 JAVELINS (x100)

Arborwyrm-reinforced hardwood shafts. Tips are K'tharr scythe-sharpened steel with Arachnid leg integration at the primary pierce and Pico's beak fragment at the terminal point — ground to javelin scale but retaining the shadow-penetrating property. Stored in the item pouch and retrieved individually or in grouped throws by intent command through Feather's Memory. Each carries a minor enchantment maintaining structural integrity through impact, allowing retrieval.

 DAGGERS (x2)

Skitterpig and Grimfang fang material base over Arborwyrm claws. Arachnid leg integration at the tip updated with Glistening Dread Queen clawed appendage tip material layered above it. Pico's talon material at the terminal point — the point of these blades can penetrate shadow-layered defenses and reach through what the layers below cannot.

SUPPORT EQUIPMENT

DIVINE (rarity) — CLASS V — MYTHICAL (rank) — AETHERWING'S IMPERIAL MAGICAL ITEM POUCH (REFORGED)

*Two gifts. One from a beast who chose to love a child. One from an Emperor who chose to honour a man. In the reforging, neither was diminished. Both became something greater than either could have been alone — much like the person who carries it.*

When Administrator Magnus had proposed the reforging, August had hesitated. Both pouches worked. Both served their purpose. Combining them felt like a risk he did not need to take. But Magnus had been patient and specific in his explanation, and Aetherwing had offered the second feather without being asked — which settled the matter.

The reforging took weeks. The exterior that emerged is unlike anything August had seen — dark as a moonless sky under normal light, shifting to silver and deep amber gold when caught at an angle. Arborwyrm scales reinforced with Armored Arachnid carapace form the shell, stitched with the Queen's silk thread in seams finer than anything human hands could produce. Along the seam line, two symbols pressed in Mytherium: the wing-mark of Aetherwing's lineage, and the Imperial Seal of Elms-Arkanus, side by side.

The two enchantments merged rather than simply stacked. Aetherwing no longer receives a notification when August approaches mortal danger. He feels it — a thread of shared consciousness that cannot be severed without unraveling the pouch itself. It cannot be traded, stolen, or inherited. If August falls, it will not pass to another hand. The dimensional space will collapse, the Mytherium thread will unravel, and the feather will return to wherever Guardian Beast essence goes when it is freed. Some things should not outlive their reason for existing.

August closed the panel and let the road fill his attention again for a moment. He was, he had long since accepted, absurdly equipped for a person his age. Most veteran warriors would not accumulate a loadout of this quality in a lifetime of service. He had reached it through extraordinary means in which he had earned his keep, through a crafting system no one else could access, and the simple unavoidable fact that the things trying to kill him had progressively gotten worse over the years, and he had survived all of them.

The equipment he now has was a record of that, a trophy if you will. Every material in every piece had a story he could name. He preferred it that way. A warrior who did not know why their armor was built the way it was did not fully understand what they were carrying into battle.

He glanced up at Finnester, who had dropped into a slow escort pattern twenty metres above and slightly ahead — keeping pace with the column, watching the surrounding terrain with that sharp amber gaze. The young eagle was growing. In a few more years he would be something formidable in his own right.

August slipped back into reality and the panel closed and he walked amongst those who had followed him to battle. Maya Village was waiting for their triumphant return. And there was always more work to do, something to improve back home.
