Chapter 9 - The Battle Begins

It was a total disaster at school the next day, it was like I didn't need to train to make my powers manifest, I kept taking excuses out of classes and Tracy was with me 24/7.

At lunchtime, Vyn approached us, and Tracy's expression turned into a frown.

As he sat next to me, I turned to look at Tracy. "Tracy..." she raised her hand to stop me. "It's fine, I know. I just need time to cope with it." She stood up and left after that.

I turned to Vyn who didn't seem bothered at all. "You need to learn to control them quickly, or else they'll go bizarre." He said.

"Yeah but it's not like I can just learn to control them at school, and it's a good thing I start today anyway" I said with an uneasy look on my face.

Vyn noticed this and pulled me closer to kiss me, "This was your idea, there's no going back now" he said with a playful smirk.

Bai had witnessed all that had happened, and with a satisfied look on its face, it disappeared into a portal.

--------------------------------------

"I tell you master! Vyn is behind it all! I suggest the Xoraxs to attack!" Bai reported without hesitation.

Acanthus' anger flared, "You dare break your to break your oath Vyn!!" he roared.

"Release them, release them all! And make them bring both of them to me at once!."

Bai Dadona had always been envious of Vyn. Vyn was well liked and honoured by Acanthus, and Bai was always the 'extra'.

Bai was satisfied with this because his desire was finally fulfilled.

He left to release the Xoraxs as Acanthus had commanded, these creatures were know to be highly ranked, they were dangerous and a newbie like Kendra would not know how to overcome them easily.

----------------------------

The doorbell rang, I hoped it would've been Vyn but it was Mom's 'boyfriend'.

"Oh...Kendra" Caspian said, I looked at him with an unfazed expression, he had lilies in his hand, Mom's favourite flowers.

He was wearing a brown long jacket, and had a cream hat on his head, his curly hair dangled on the sides. He looked tacky and had a bright smile on his face.

I let out a heavy sigh, "Mom! Caspian's here!" I said in a loud voice as I opened the door properly for him to come in.

'Why is he here? Didn't Mom tell him we'd be busy?' I thought.

Mom showed up and her face lit up in an instant and gave him a hug as she smiled from ear to ear.

I crossed my arms as I watched them both, laughing in each others arms, and I'd admit it, I was jealous.

I rolled my eyes, "Mom, we need to start now, you know" I said, interrupting their moment.

Mom gave me a side eyes and I smirked, she turned to Caspian whose expression was bewildered, "Is this a good time?" he asked.

Mom acted like she didn't know what he was talking about and I had to step in, "No it's not, we have plans for tonight, I'm sorry but it's a mother and daughter thing" I said as I led him to the door.

I opened up, "You can come next week, bye!" I shoved him outside and shut the door.

I knew Mom was boiling but I didn't have a choice, "Don't give me that look, you knew we were going to do something important today..." I sighed "Let's just get this over with, at least I have to learn something before Vyn shows up".
