Chapter 11 - Testing My Powers

After that unforgettable night, Igami and I find ourselves in a small, eerie clearing deep within the Dark Woods. The air is thick with the scent of damp earth and pine, and the faint glow of bioluminescent fungi casts shifting shadows on the trees around us. Igami stands firm, her hands raised as a shimmering barrier of [Magi Shield] hums to life around her—a translucent dome of swirling arcane energy that flickers like a candle in the wind.

Meanwhile, I step into the center of the clearing, my boots crunching over twigs and dried leaves. With a deep breath, I open my spell list, and my vision floods with an overwhelming cascade of names—thousands upon thousands of spells, each more intricate than the last. The display glows ominously in the dim light, and my stomach twists as I see the golden inscription at the bottom:

Page 1 out of 57,295.

Each page holds over a hundred spells. The sheer enormity of it is dizzying. How am I ever supposed to use them all? But now isn't the time for hesitation. I need power—raw, devastating power.

So I choose the one at the very top, marked with a star which signifies that it's my supreme skill

[Summon]

The moment the word leaves my lips, my right hand ignites with a searing blue light. The energy coils around my fingers like liquid lightning before condensing into a small, geometric form—Ramiel, the Fifth Angel from Evangelion, now hovering just above my palm in its signature floating octahedron shape. Its core pulses faintly, a quiet hum resonating through the air like the distant whine of a tuning fork.

I raise my hand, and Ramiel ascends, drifting above me like a malevolent star. Activating [Enhanced View], my vision sharpens to impossible clarity—every leaf, every insect, every ripple in the air becomes crystal clear. My gaze sweeps across the forest until I spot it: a goblin village, nestled between gnarled oaks and crude wooden huts. Smoke rises from their fires, and distant, guttural laughter echoes through the trees.

Perfect.

I point, and Ramiel shifts, its core flaring a deep, ominous red. The air itself vibrates as the Angel begins its real-time mathematical calculations, its form morphing between jagged triangular shapes before unfolding like a deadly, mechanical flower. The positron beam charges—a searing, crimson light gathering at its center, so intense that even with my [Heat Immunity] working at full strength, sweat beads on my forehead. The ground beneath me trembles, and the trees around us shudder as if recoiling in fear.

I glance at Igami. She's braced herself, her [Magi Shield] now reinforced to [Max Magi Shield]—a multi-layered barrier of swirling runes and crackling energy. Even so, I can see the strain in her eyes. This heat… it's insane.

Then—release.

Ramiel's beam lances forward like the wrath of a god, a blinding streak of annihilation. The moment it strikes the village, it explodes. Trees are vaporized in an instant, the shockwave ripping through the earth like a tidal wave of fire. The goblins don't even have time to scream—their entire village is erased, reduced to a smoldering crater in the blink of an eye. The force of the blast sends a scorching wind tearing through the forest, and even from this distance, I have to shield my eyes from the debris.

As the dust settles, all that remains is silence.

I lower my hand, exhaling slowly. Ramiel drifts back to me, its glow dimming as it returns to its dormant state. Igami lets out a shaky breath, her shield flickering out.

"...Well" she mutters, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "That's one way to handle goblins."

"Truly an wonderful result...[Spells]" I open my spell list and...

"What the hell... it's growing more and more?" I mutter in disbelief, eyes fixed on the page numbers. The number of spells is climbing rapidly—faster than I can even begin to comprehend. Each time I glance away and look back, more pages appear like the angels from doctor who.

I glance over at Igami. She's no longer looking at me directly; instead, her eyes dart around the clearing with a subtle intensity, like she's scanning for threats. She must think I'm under some kind of attack due to my reaction.

"Igami" I call, my voice steady. "Do you have any idea why my spell list is expanding so much, so quickly?"

She turns to face me, her expression calm but thoughtful. Then she nods, a small, knowing smile forming on her lips. "It's because of your mana—and the [Spell Creator] spell" she explains. "The spell is passively converting your excess mana into new spells. Since your mana is infinite, the process never stops. It will continue generating spells endlessly."

I blink in stunned silence for a moment, then lift a finger and point at her. "Alright... let's see yours. [Check Spell List]" I command, voice low.

A shimmering panel of light unfolds in the air beside her. Lines upon lines of spells scroll past in glowing text, so quickly it's hard to keep up. Her spell list has grown significantly—at least a thousand pages more than the last time I checked. It makes sense, though. Her mana core is nearly as potent as mine.

"I want to test something else" I say after a pause, my tone shifting to a more serious note. "Igami, form a magi shield—protect yourself."

Without hesitation, she nods once and closes her eyes. In an instant, her form shifts—translucent blue magic envelops her entire body as she transforms into an ice-like version of herself, crystalline and beautiful. But the form cracks within seconds, shattering into dozens of glimmering shards.

The fragments don't fall—they scatter, streaking like guided missiles toward the densest part of the forest nearby. Then, just as quickly, they begin to coalesce. The pieces merge together with a sharp hum, reforming her figure in perfect detail. As she completes her form, a glowing hexagonal barrier snaps into place around her—her [Magi Shield] fully activated.

"Okay that was fucking cool" I say to myself as I watch her way of transportation in small distances "I wonder if her sisters will do things like that too, I know she has a fire elemental sister, maybe she turns into a big fire or just an single ash"

§ yes that's something to wonder!

"Huh? What was that ? I'm sure I just heard a voice...a female one at that, but whatever, my hundreds of detection magic don't seem to find anything at all" I say to myself slowly.

I scroll through the seemingly endless list of spells embedded within my system, my eyes darting from one peculiar name to another. Each entry pulses faintly with arcane energy, whispering untold possibilities. Then, one particular spell catches my eye—a name so familiar, so iconic, that I nearly doubt what I'm seeing.

Curious and intrigued, I select it without hesitation. Within moments, energy begins to swirl in my palm, spiraling rapidly with a resonant hum. The air vibrates around me as pure mana coalesces into a violently rotating sphere of power—the Rasengan. Just like that, I've manifested the same legendary technique from the world of Naruto. My hand tingles from the force of it. A wide grin spreads across my face as I dispel it into shimmering wisps of mana.

"So I can replicate other characters' magic… Fascinating. Truly fascinating" I mutter under my breath, mind racing with the implications.

Without delay, I send out a small pulse of mana—a signature signal crafted specifically for one person. A second later, a soft distortion warps the air beside me, and Igami appears through a seamless teleportation ripple. She lands gracefully, eyes already fixed on mine.

"Igami" I begin, my tone steady but filled with a growing sense of purpose "can you finally tell me—what is my true objective?"

I've came to notice that one my spells [Detect Lie] was tingling for a long long time, I guessed it was about the goddess mission and decided to shoot my shot, and apparently...I was right.

She closes her eyes for a moment and exhales, as if preparing to share a truth too heavy to speak lightly.

"Very well…" she says, her voice quiet, yet resolute. "Your true mission is far greater than you realize, the main characters, those good sometime bad guys exist in this perfect creation by the goddess...but they've each been overtaken by an ancient, primordial evil. Their wills suppressed, their destinies corrupted."

She pauses, meeting my gaze with solemn intensity. "You, and only you, have the ability to liberate them. That is the goddess's will—the purpose for which you were chosen."

"How the hell am I supposed to do that?" I ask genuinely curious.

"Beating them to death, entering their mind and killing the demon inside it" she says as if it was super easy

Turns out, practically everything the goddess said was a lie but I can't blame her...I would kill to protect my creation...well and she is hot too so yeah there's that.

"I see… thank you, Igami" I say, my voice calm yet appreciative. She gives me a silent nod, her expression unreadable as always. In an instant, her form flickers, vanishing into thin air with a faint shimmer of mana before reappearing some distance away—ever vigilant, ever watchful.

With a thoughtful breath, I tilt my gaze toward the heavens. The sky above is vast and painted with faint hues of magic, whispering the promise of limitless potential. A question lingers in my mind—one that demands an answer: would the sheer power of a high-tier summoned entity exert any strain on my body or mind? Headaches, backlash, instability?

There is only one way to know.

I raise my hand slowly, channeling mana with focus and precision. My intent is clear. My target is absolute.

"[Summon!] Rimuru Tempest!"

A dazzling array of symbols spirals into existence before me, humming with vibrant energy. The air ripples as space tears open, revealing a luminous void. From within, a small, familiar blue slime drops to the ground with a gentle bounce.

Within seconds, the slime glows brightly, and in a swirl of light and ethereal wind, the form shifts—reshaping and reforming until he stands before me in his humanoid appearance. Rimuru Tempest.

He blinks once, scanning the surroundings, his gaze calm and calculating. Then, as his eyes land upon me, something changes. Recognition dawns. Respect deepens. He immediately lowers himself onto one knee, bowing with sincere reverence.

"My master" he declares with quiet authority.

A soft smile tugs at the corners of my lips. I feel nothing—no pain, no dizziness, no mental fog. Despite the overwhelming strength of the being I've summoned, my body remains stable. My mind, clear. That alone speaks volumes.

"I summoned you as part of a test" I explain, keeping my voice composed, though inwardly I'm pleased by the result. "It's good to know that you are available when needed."

Rimuru simply nods, no words needed—his loyalty and understanding are implicit. With a small motion of my fingers and a flash of silvery-blue light, I dismiss the summon.

In a blink, he vanishes, leaving behind only a lingering trace of magic in the air—and the satisfying knowledge that I can indeed summon beings of great power without consequence.

"What do you plan to do now, Master?" Igami inquires gently, her voice as soft as a breeze drifting through quiet ruins. Her eyes scan the surroundings with calculated care, alert yet calm, as though sensing for any lingering threats or disturbances in the flow of mana.

I exhale slowly, taking in the stillness that now blankets the area. "Let's return to the inn" I reply, my voice firm yet thoughtful. "I've tested enough of those overwhelming abilities for today. Right now, I want to try something simpler… more grounded. Just some ordinary techniques. No world-shattering power, no god-level summons—just the basics."

Igami gives a silent nod of understanding, her expression serene. Without a word, she lifts one hand into the air, her fingertips glowing faintly with energy as she traces a sigil in the space before us. A shimmering portal unfurls with a low hum, swirling with purple energy.

"After you, Master" she says, standing beside the portal like a loyal sentinel.

I step into the glowing rift, the light washing over us as we begin our journey back to the quiet safety of the inn.
