Chapter 258 - Chapter 257: “Have You Watched It?”

Arkham Asylum.

Jason hid in the shadows, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. He didn't know who would show up today.

"Quick, catch him!"

"Damn, how is he still crawling this fast in that state?!"

"Careful! Don't hurt him!"

The Joker was on all fours, galloping through the hallway corners like a wild beast, his eyes filled with fear.

Behind him, a large group of people holding ropes and nets chased relentlessly.

"A cat? No… his movement trajectory is off. A rat."

Jason watched with great interest.

This had become his daily routine—his must-watch entertainment.

Missing even one day made him feel uneasy.

"Is it good?"

"Yea… Who?!"

Jason was startled, instantly swinging a crowbar behind him.

Clang!

The crowbar struck the other person's arm.

"To treat your dear uncle this way at our first meeting… I'm heartbroken."

Jason withdrew his now-deformed crowbar with a twitching mouth, his hand numb from the impact.

"You're not my uncle."

He ignored the man and continued watching the chaos below.

"Are you satisfied with this kind of punishment?"

"…Thanks."

Jason's voice was faint.

"What was that?"

"Nothing."

Jason pulled up his hood and vanished toward the ceiling.

"Such a difficult little bird."

Qino took one last glance at the mess below and left as well.

Just as he was about to head toward Kahndaq to check on the situation, he suddenly paused.

"Barry?"

His body vanished instantly.

In the Speed Force.

A figure blurred into a streak of light, surrounded by dazzling bolts of lightning.

Chasing him, a blinding red beam loomed like a ghostly shadow, filled with an aura of destruction.

He didn't know how long he'd have to run, but if he stopped—even for a second—he would die.

To run until death—that was the cruelest punishment for a speedster.

The runner was none other than Barry Allen—the Flash. At this moment, his consciousness was growing faint. Every stride felt like it was ripping the life from his body.

Just as despair was about to swallow him whole, a voice suddenly echoed in his ear.

"What are you doing, Barry?"

The voice startled him awake. He turned his head—and at some unknown moment, a man in a black and red suit had appeared beside him.

"Who are you?! Get away from me! The Omega Beam is about to catch up! You'll die too!"

Barry shouted anxiously, his voice filled with worry for this stranger.

"Is that so?"

Qino noticed that this version of Barry didn't seem to recognize him.

His gaze turned toward the persistent Omega Beam.

The Omega Beam—an energy blast of immense destructive power and tracking capability—was an extra-dimensional energy form that defied conventional physics.

Beyond its physical damage, it could also harm a target's soul and spirit, causing immense pain both physically and mentally.

It could even alter a target's molecular structure, turning living beings into inanimate objects or disintegrating them into subatomic particles.

In essence, this was Darkseid's signature move—few could withstand it.

Speedsters were among the rare exceptions, though this Barry hadn't yet learned the advanced techniques to survive.

Chaos Heat Vision.

Qino's eyes flared with a blazing red beam.

The Chaos Heat Vision clashed directly with the Omega Beam, and for a moment, the entire Speed Force seemed to distort under the pressure of these two mighty forces.

After a brief stalemate, the Omega Beam was annihilated.

"Oh my god! You're a Superman too! Thank you for saving me, but I don't have time to thank you properly—I need to go save people! If I live through this, I'll come find you again!"

Barry was stunned, then overjoyed. The nightmare-like Omega Beam that had haunted him for so long was finally gone.

He turned and ran back the way he came, though he still didn't know how he'd ended up in the Speed Force in the first place.

Qino glanced at the direction Barry left in.

[Should we follow him? That dumb kid might just die.]

Venom's voice echoed in his mind.

"Let's go take a look. I'd like to meet Darkseid myself. If I can't beat him, I'll just run. I refuse to believe he can chase me all the way to Marvel."

Washington, D.C. — a city of prosperity and solemn grandeur.

The once-clear sky was now darkened by an overwhelming swarm of Parademons, blotting out the sun.

They ravaged every corner of the city like locusts, capturing innocent humans and transforming them into more Parademons.

Barry stumbled out of the Speed Force and collapsed to the ground.

"Barry, you need to run! There are still people waiting for you to save them!"

He pushed himself up, trembling as he stood.

Even the Speed Force consumed stamina. After running all night, he had nothing left.

The Parademons in the sky noticed Barry on the ground.

They dove toward him.

Buzz!

A thick red beam of energy shot into the sky, instantly incinerating all nearby Parademons to ash.

The scorching heat twisted the surrounding air and filled it with the acrid stench of burning flesh.

"This is making my trypophobia act up."

Barry turned his head—to see the Superman-like man from before.

"Thank you. Can I ask you… can you save this world?"

Barry couldn't afford to ask why this man was here. He only had one thought in mind—save this world from destruction.

"I can… but my help comes at a price. What are you offering?"

Qino asked.

"Everything I have."

Barry stood up, eyes full of determination.

"I don't want that. What would I do with a man?"

Qino rolled his eyes.

He already possessed the Speed Force.

Barry was fine as a teammate—but as a subordinate? He didn't want anyone from the Justice League under him. Who knew when they'd drag him into a mess or get him killed?

Qino thought for a moment, then said,

"The Justice League owes me a favor. Deal?"

"Alright! I agree on their behalf!"

Barry answered quickly.

He didn't even fully know what the Justice League was at this point, but he agreed without hesitation. There was no time—if they delayed any longer, the world would be doomed.

"Let me see what happened here first."

Qino's vision began to elevate and spread outward.

This world had not experienced the Doomsday War, which meant Batman hadn't formed the Justice League in advance.

A day ago, Parademons suddenly appeared on Earth, slaughtering and abducting people worldwide.

Batman was the first to discover the anomaly and began investigating. Along the way, he had conflicts with Green Lantern and Superman—but under persuasion from the Justice League's succubus, they temporarily reconciled and investigated together.

But it was too late.

Teleportation portals opened all over the globe.

Parademons poured out by the thousands—and with them came their master, Darkseid!

Superman and Batman were captured.

Wonder Woman lost an arm. Green Lantern covered their retreat.

Shazam showed up too—but he and Wonder Woman were beaten down by Darkseid, Shazam's transformation forcibly removed, and he was left unconscious.

Cyborg built a safehouse and temporarily hid the wounded there.

Qino's vision moved again, arriving at a massive structure on the sea.

Inside the building, Qino saw the Superman and Batman of this world.

They looked feral and twisted—kneeling in servitude—they had been transformed into Super Parademons.

In the center of the grand hall, on a massive throne, sat a towering gray-skinned giant.

"Have you seen enough?"

The past version of Darkseid raised his head and locked eyes with Qino from the future.

His eyes glowed ominously red.

Quote of the Chapter:"True power is not just in how fast you run from death—but in who you stand and fight for."
