Chapter 122 - How to cure a Angry Vexion

Here's the passage with dialogue, internal thoughts, and System lines each given their own line, while narration flows in paragraphs:

Lexa let out a long sigh.

"Vexion..." She stepped forward slightly. "You can clearly tell he has no intention of continuing this. He doesn't want to fight. So can we please leave it here?"

Vexion remained silent, her crimson eyes fixed on the demon. Lexa knew that look — she wasn't convinced, and a few more words wouldn't change her mind.

Looks like it's time to use the ultimate card.

"Master gave us a mission."

Vexion's ears twitched, and almost instantly the murderous intent surrounding her vanished completely.

"What?"

Lexa smiled inwardly.

'As expected.'

"I've already found Gorgon." She gestured toward the towering man standing several meters away. "But we still haven't found the Fairy. Nor the third person Master wanted us to recruit."

Vexion blinked, the demon, the duel, the anger all seeming to fall away from her mind.

"Oh... you already found Gorgon?"

Lexa nodded. "I did."

Only then did Vexion properly acknowledge the giant standing nearby, giving him a simple nod. Gorgon returned it, though internally his thoughts were anything but calm.

'What an unbelievably domineering woman...'

He glanced toward the demon.

'Was staring at her body disrespectful? Yes. Ungentlemanly? Certainly. Worth losing your life over?... I don't think so. Yet she genuinely intended to kill him.'

He couldn't help reaching a conclusion.

'I should never provoke this woman.'

Vexion ignored the demon completely now, looking back toward Lexa.

"Any idea where the other two are?"

Lexa shook her head. "None. We'll probably have to continue searching tomorrow. Or perhaps Master will stumble across one of them first."

Vexion nodded. "That sounds more likely."

Off to the side, the forgotten demon quietly watched the two women converse, his expression calm even as his thoughts churned.

'Beautiful. Both of them. Yet they're complete opposites. One is calm and reasonable. The other...'

His eyes drifted toward Vexion.

'...is terrifying.'

He slowly wiped the remaining blood from beneath his nose.

'I'm not stupid. Starting another conflict now serves no purpose.'

His gaze darkened slightly.

'But I am a pure-blood demon. I have my pride. Today's humiliation... will not be forgotten.'

Without another word, he turned and disappeared into the crowd. An enemy had been made. Unfortunately, Vexion no longer cared. Whether he hated her today, or ten years from now, made little difference — she had already given him the opportunity to settle matters immediately, and he'd refused. As far as she was concerned, he no longer existed.

After briefly confirming the details of the meeting with Gorgon once more, the giant excused himself and headed toward his own destination. Lexa and Vexion continued walking side by side. After several moments, Lexa tapped the bracelet around her wrist, and a translucent holographic screen appeared before her eyes, invisible to everyone except its owner. She scanned her schedule.

"...History." She glanced sideways. "What about you?"

Vexion opened her own academy bracelet. After a brief moment, she answered.

"History."

Lexa smiled. "Looks like we're classmates again."

Vexion nodded. "Then let's go."

The two women headed toward the History Department together.

Meanwhile, Dante remained comfortably inside his residence, one leg resting over the other as he leisurely ate a bowl of chilled dessert while looking out the enormous window overlooking the academy grounds. He took another bite, a satisfied sigh escaping him.

"Life is peaceful. An academy. A whole house to myself. No enemies. No people I need to kill."

He paused.

"...hmm?"

Another bite.

"Yeah. No people I need to kill." He leaned further back into his chair. "This is what I call living."

The System answered in its usual mechanical voice.

[Master.]

"Hm?"

[Is there anything we discussed before entering the academy that you believe we may have overlooked?]

Dante thought for a moment, then shook his head.

"Not really." He looked out the window. "But today's lecture did make one thing painfully obvious. We're still weak."

The System immediately agreed.

[Correct.]

[Compared to the academy's overall standards, our current strength is insufficient for the level of comfortable strength Master seeks.]

[Acquiring knowledge should now be considered a priority.]

Dante slowly nodded. "There was one question I forgot to ask." He rested his chin on his hand. "If someone possesses multiple Legendary-tier skills... does each skill require its own World Essence? Or is one enough for the entire body?"

He frowned.

"My instinct says... one shouldn't be enough. This world doesn't exactly reward shortcuts."

The System had already reached the same conclusion.

[I agree, Master.]

[Each Legendary-tier skill most likely requires its own World Essence.]

Dante raised an eyebrow. "Reason?"

[Although the body is transformed, each skill possesses its own mana foundation.]

[It is likely that every Legendary-tier skill requires an independent refinement process.]

[Otherwise, individuals possessing numerous skills would possess an overwhelming advantage for virtually no additional cost.]

[That would contradict the balance consistently observed within this world's leveling system.]

Dante clicked his tongue.

"Figures. Nothing's ever easy."

A brief silence followed. Then the System spoke again.

[Master.]

"Hm?"

[I recommend visiting the library.]

Dante's expression immediately soured.

"...Reading?"

"No."

"I refuse."

The System replied without hesitation.

[You will not be reading.]

Dante blinked.

"...Explain."

[I will.]

A moment of silence followed. Dante slowly lowered his spoon.

"...You're telling me you'll read everything... and summarize it for me?"

[Correct.]

Dante seriously considered the proposal. It sounded wonderful. Unfortunately, it still required him to walk to the library. He sighed dramatically.

"You know... I promised I'd take this academy more seriously."

The System remained silent. Dante scratched his cheek.

"...Fine."

With a single step, space folded, and his figure disappeared from the residence. The next instant, he appeared before one of the largest buildings within Midvest Academy — the Academy Library. Dante stared up at the enormous structure.

'...I already regret agreeing to this.'
