Chapter 94 - Chapter 94

Melissa didn't tell anyone.

Not Antonio. Not Roberto. Not Ariana. Not even Sunny.

She simply completed her arrangements, said goodbye to Nancy, and left.

Before boarding her flight, she called the staff she had hired.

"Take care of her."

The butler immediately nodded.

"You have my word."

Melissa looked at Nancy.

"Rest."

Nancy smiled.

"Come visit me again."

Melissa smiled back.

"I will."

Then she walked away.

She never looked back.

Because something told her that when she returned to Mexico, everything would be different.

Melissa arrived late at night.

No one knew she was back.

She checked into a private location under an assumed name and immediately contacted Dean.

He handed her a folder.

"Everything you need is here."

Melissa opened it.

Photographs. Addresses.

Financial records. Communication logs. Names.

She studied each one carefully.

These were the people Trisha had paid to hurt Zara.

Melissa didn't confront them publicly.

She didn't make threats.

She simply dismantled the network.

One by one, the people involved were located and stopped before they could reach Zara again.

Their communications were collected.

Their financial transactions were documented.

Their connection to Trisha was preserved as evidence.

By morning, Trisha's carefully built network had collapsed.

But Melissa wasn't finished.

There was still one name.

Aaron Jones. The judge.

Melissa stared at his photograph.

Then she looked at the evidence Dean had gathered.

Bank transfers. Messages. Meetings.

Proof that Trisha had purchased his loyalty.

Melissa closed the folder.

"Everyone leaves a trail."

Meanwhile, At the Gonzalez Estate.

Antonio stood by the window.

Something had been bothering him all night.

He looked at his phone.

No messages. No calls. Nothing from Melissa.

It had been days since he had heard her voice.

Roberto entered the room.

"Anything?"

Antonio shook his head.

"Not yet."

"What are you looking for?"

"Answers."

Roberto frowned.

"About Trisha?"

Antonio nodded.

"She isn't acting alone."

Roberto's expression darkened.

Before he could respond, his phone rang.

He answered.

"Hello?"

A security officer spoke.

"Sir, several individuals connected to the threats against Zara have disappeared."

Roberto frowned.

"Disappeared?"

"Yes."

"By who?"

"We're still confirming."

Roberto hung up.

Antonio looked at him.

"What happened?"

"People connected to Trisha are disappearing."

Antonio's eyes narrowed.

"That isn't a coincidence."

"No."

Roberto looked toward the staircase.

"Someone is protecting Zara."

Antonio remained silent.

Neither man knew that the person responsible was already inside the city.

And she had returned for one reason.

Zara.

Trisha sat in her apartment, scrolling through her phone.

Her confidence had begun to disappear.

One of her contacts had stopped answering.

Then another. Then another. She called one of her men.

No response. She tried again. Nothing.

"What is happening?"

Her phone suddenly rang.

She answered.

"Hello?"

A frightened voice whispered,

"Mrs. Trisha…"

"Yes?"

"We have a problem."

"What?"

"The people you hired…"

He hesitated.

"They're gone."

Trisha stood.

"What do you mean?"

"I don't know."

"Find them."

"We tried."

"Then try harder!"

The call ended.

Trisha stared at the phone.

Something was wrong.

Someone was interfering.

Someone who knew exactly what she had done.

Her eyes moved toward the window.

For the first time, she wondered if she had underestimated someone.

Across the street, Melissa stood beside a parked car.

She watched Trisha's apartment from a distance.

Her phone vibrated.

A message from Dean appeared.

Everything is ready. The evidence against Trisha and Judge Jones is secured.

Melissa typed one response.

Good.

She looked up at the apartment.

Trisha had no idea that her secrets were already exposed.

She had no idea that the anonymous letter had been traced.

She didn't know that the judge she had bribed could no longer protect her.

And she certainly didn't know that Melissa had returned.

Melissa slipped her phone into her coat.

"It's over."

She turned away from the building.

But before she could take another step, her phone rang.

Antonio.

Melissa stopped.

She stared at his name.

Her heart tightened.

For a moment, she considered ignoring it.

Then she answered.

"Hello?"

Silence.

Then his familiar voice came through.

"Melissa."

She closed her eyes.

"I know you're back."

Her eyes opened.

"How?"

Oh the tracker on the hairpin must have activated when i wore it. Melissa thought

Antonio's voice softened.

"Because I know you."

Melissa said nothing.

"I don't know what you're doing," he continued.

"But I know you're in danger."

She looked toward Trisha's apartment.

"Stay out of this, Antonio."

"I can't."

"You have to."

"No."

His answer was immediate.

"Not this time."

Melissa's heart began beating faster.

"Antonio…"

"I lost you once."

His voice dropped.

"I'm not going to lose you again."

Melissa swallowed hard.

She wanted to tell him everything.

But she couldn't. Not yet.

Because there was still one final piece of Trisha's plan to uncover.

And Melissa intended to find it.

No matter what it cost her.

Melissa remained silent on the phone.

Antonio's words echoed in her mind.

I'm not going to lose you again.

For a moment, the woman who had spent years teaching herself not to depend on anyone almost broke.

But she forced the emotion down.

"You shouldn't have called."

"I know."

"You shouldn't have found me."

"I know that too."

"Then why did you?"

Antonio's voice softened.

"Because you're doing something dangerous."

Melissa looked toward Trisha's apartment.

"You don't know what I'm doing."

"I know you well enough to know you're lying to me."

She almost smiled.

Almost.

"You always were stubborn."

"And you always disappear when you're scared."

Melissa's expression changed.

"I am not scared."

"Then come home."

Silence.

Antonio waited.

"Melissa?"

"I can't."

"Why?"

"Because there's something I need to finish."

"What?"

She didn't answer.

"Melissa."

She closed her eyes.

"Please trust me."

Antonio sighed.

"I do."

His voice became quieter.

"That's the problem."

She swallowed.

"I'll call you."

"When?"

"When I can."

The line went dead.

Melissa stared at her phone for several seconds.

Then she slipped it into her pocket. She had to focus.

Trisha was only the beginning.

The next morning, Judge Aaron Jones arrived at his chambers expecting another ordinary day.

Instead, he found an envelope on his desk. He frowned.

There was no name on it. He opened it.

Photographs fell onto the desk.

The first showed him meeting Trisha.

The second showed an exchange between them.

The third showed money being transferred into an account connected to him.

His face went pale.

"No…"

He quickly looked through the rest.

There were messages. Dates. Times.

Bank statements. Everything.

Someone had been watching him.

His phone suddenly rang.

"Hello?"

A calm female voice answered.

"You should resign."

His blood ran cold.

"Who is this?"

"You know who."

"I don't—"

"Trisha paid you to destroy a child's family."

He swallowed.

"Listen, I can explain—"

"You'll have the opportunity."

"Who are you?"

The line went silent.

Then the woman said,

"Someone who doesn't forget."

The call ended.

Judge Jones stared at his phone.

For the first time, he realized that the person who had exposed him wasn't asking for money.

She wasn't threatening him.

She was simply giving him one chance to surrender before the evidence became public.

At the Gonzalez estate, Roberto paced the living room.

"This doesn't make sense."

Antonio sat across from him.

"What doesn't?"

"The people who were working for Trisha are suddenly being exposed."

Antonio nodded.

"I know."

"Someone is helping us."

"Yes."

"Who?"

Antonio didn't answer.

Roberto looked at him.

"You have an idea."

Antonio leaned back.

"Maybe."

"Who?"

Antonio stared at his phone.

"Melissa."

Roberto frowned.

"She just returned?"

Antonio nodded.

"Quietly."

"How do you know?"

"I called her."

Roberto's eyebrows rose.

"When?"

"Last night."

"And?"

Antonio's expression became serious.

"She told me to stay out of it."

Roberto stared at him.

"That sounds like Melissa."

Antonio smiled faintly.

"She hasn't changed."

Upstairs, Zara sat at her desk drawing.

Sofia sat beside her.

"What are you drawing?"

"My family."

Sofia looked at the page.

There were several stick figures.

Roberto. Ariana. Sofia. Sunny. Antonio.

Then Zara added another figure.

Sofia pointed.

"Who's that?"

Zara smiled.

"Aunty Melissa."

Sofia looked surprised.

"You barely know her."

"I like her."

"Why?"

Zara shrugged.

"She looks like someone who keeps secrets."

Sofia laughed.

"You're strange."

Zara smiled.

Then her expression changed.

"Do you think Mommy Trisha is going to take me?"

Sofia's smile disappeared.

"No."

"You promise?"

"I promise."

Zara looked down at her drawing.

"I don't want to leave Daddy."

"You won't."

Neither girl noticed the figure standing outside the door.

Ariana.

She had heard everything.

Her heart broke.

She quietly walked away.

That afternoon, Dean arrived at the Gonzalez estate.

Antonio met him at the door.

"Who are you?" Antonio asked.

"My name is D'Angelo. But you can me Dean"

"What are you doing here?"

"I need to speak with Roberto."

"Why?" Antonio asked.

"Melissa sent me" Dean said.

Antonio stepped aside.

Dean entered.

Roberto came downstairs.

"What happened?"

Dean placed a folder on the table.

"Everything."

Roberto opened it.

His eyes widened.

"The anonymous letter…"

"Trisha."

"The judge?"

"Bribed by Trisha."

"The witnesses?"

"Paid."

Roberto flipped through another page.

"The people who attacked Zara?"

Dean nodded.

"Trisha hired them."

Ariana covered her mouth.

Roberto slowly closed the folder.

"How did you get all this?"

Dean glanced toward Antonio.

"Melissa."

Antonio's eyes narrowed.

"She gave it to you?"

"She asked me to deliver it."

"Where is she?"

Dean hesitated.

"She won't tell me."

Antonio's jaw tightened.

"She knew you would come looking."

"Yes."

Roberto looked toward the folder.

"Then we need to get this to the court."

Dean nodded.

"That's the plan."

Ariana looked at Roberto.

"Will this be enough?"

Roberto stared at the evidence.

"It has to be."

That evening, Trisha sat in her apartment, staring at the city.

She knew something had changed.

Her contacts were disappearing.

Her money was being investigated.

Judge Jones wasn't answering her calls.

And the people she had hired were no longer available.

Someone was dismantling everything.

Then her phone rang.

She answered immediately.

"Judge Jones?"

No answer.

"Hello?"

A man's voice came through.

"It's over."

Trisha's face tightened.

"What?"

"You need to leave."

"Who are you?"

"Someone who doesn't want to end up like the others."

The call ended.

Trisha stood.

She rushed to her bedroom and opened a hidden safe.

Inside were passports, cash, jewelry, and several documents.

She began stuffing everything into a bag.

She was leaving.

But as she reached the front door, she stopped.

A piece of paper had been slipped underneath it.

Her hands trembled as she picked it up.

There was only one sentence.

YOU CAN RUN, BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE FROM THE TRUTH.

Trisha's breathing became shallow.

She slowly looked around the apartment.

"Who are you?"

No answer.

She opened the door.

The hallway was empty.

But at the far end stood Melissa.

Trisha froze.

Melissa looked directly at her.

"Going somewhere?"

Trisha's face drained of color.

"You…"

Melissa walked toward her.

"You should have thought about the consequences before you touched Zara."
