Chapter 10 - chapter 10

Entering the party two unfamiliar human faces entered the mansion, both being grown muscular men. Handsome, tan skinned and shared no similarities at all. One was blonde having their hair gel back having handsome amber eyes, being much shorter than their friend. The other was darker in colour, dark red medium length hair held in a man bun and has seductive bright green eyes. They wore final attire to suit the parties requirements.

"These damn suits are so freaking tight! How do humans feel comfortable in these thing?" The short blonde one complained adjusting their tie, whilst the other calmly walked beside them having their table coincidently near the Fenton's.

"Just quit whining and get this over and done with" the other hissed elbowing him in the side, but his friend didn't seem interested to listen or even care.

"Just let's kill them and get out of here" the blonde growled quietly in return, aggressively ripping the tie off from around their shirt's collar.

"You're so impatient, Solar. It's annoying as fuck, no wonder you're a single parent" the tall friend hissed making Solar growls in response clutching the table, causing it to crack slightly.

"Just cause a scene and I'll do the rest, stupid lizard!" Solar growled getting up to wait in his position, for Soreo to walk past behind Devina oddly smelling a familiar scent from them which is odd, but continued on setting out in magic circles naked to the visible eye for a timer of 30 minutes tops to cause any structure they're attached to collapse.

Sitting back at their seats, they waited, eating, drink and even talking to other guests like they're just like them. Human. But only they knew what was going to happen, and Solar needed it to be done sooner so Soreo can get to Devina and quickly get rid of them.

"I'll get the lad, and you deal with the target and get out of here before the humans suspect a thing" Solar added quietly for only Soreo to hear, only giving a single nod confirming that he understood the plan.

Waiting for the 30 minutes to pass was agony, watching everyone having fun, laughing and dancing without having a clue that tonight was going to turn into a disaster.

"How are you feeling? Loving the party I hope" Dan asked showing his softer side to Devina as she drank some water, not feeling like getting tipsy like some would do at such an occasion.

"It's actually quite nice. There's a lot of nice people here, but something does feel a bit off though" Devina states glancing around, and yet nothing seemed to catch their eye at all. Only the classic music playing and people laughing having casual conversations.

"You sure you're alright? I don't feel anything at all, just worried about you, as you've been acting off these past few weeks" Dan noted appearing more worried checking her head for a fever, but nothing. Yet he didn't feel the dread within him like she does, and they're about to find out why.

A loud explosion erupted, sending them flying debris scattered the area around them of what use to be the upper floor balcony. They grounded pushing themselves up as Solar now in his ghost form emerged before them, pushing Dan's buttons remembering their last encounter.

"We meet again, Dan" Solar's tone was cold and collected glaring only at them, knowing Dan had no clue that he wasn't alone.

"You'll regret showing your face here! And I'll make sure of it" Dan growled transforming in his ghost form, glancing at Devina who was standing up dusting down her slightly ripped dress, which was a bummer as he loved seeing her in it.

"Ignore her for now, this is between us. Settle the score after our last match, and it'll be our last" Solar grinned vanishing through the wall forcing Dan to follow allowing the mansion walls and exterior to shake from the fight, as people screamed in fear running for their lives.

"Devina!" Jazz used over seeing the place almost collapsing and if they stayed it would most likely be their grave, but as they began to carful move as Devin was bruised and grazed by the explosion. Soreo no longer in his human form came up from behind within the distance, opening his palm and began to create a red energy ball full of plasmatic ectoplasm energy.

"Hopefully this will be enough to kill them" Soreo mumbled releasing it as it dashed in their direction, just as Jazz walk to Danny having her back faced to Devina. Who glanced over their shoulder, just to see the attack heading towards them.

"Ah!" She screamed just as it hit them pushing the others who were unaware of this to be knocked back. Unlike Danny who saw it all froze staring at the smoke that surrounded where Devina was struck.

"This can't be happening.." he mutttered as the dust settled revealing Devin gravely wounded just a bit further away, barely alive. "Where is he!?" He yelled not seeing Dan anywhere and he should've been there to save her, feeling something tear up within himself seeing Devina in such a state, but holding Jazz back was just as hard.

"Devina?!" Jazz called out holding for a response, but she got none. Devina remained still, too far to determined if she was alive or not.

Whilst outside, Solar heard the commotion and stopped. Forcing Dan to pause too when seeing this sudden pause.

"What? Have you got cold feel or finally have balls to properly fight me!" Dan growled having enough of these games, keeping a distance between them, but seeing that sinister grin creep on Solar's face it sent an unsettling feeling throughout his body.

"Looks like I've done my job here. Tell your family I give them my condolences" Solar chuckles as Soreo emerges behind him wings slowly flapping, keeping him up in the air.

"I did it. The job is done, we can go now" Soreo confirmed Solar's thoughts when hearing the scream, and how everything is now a crumbling mess.

"Yeah. Let's go before they catch on" Solar responded taking off along with Soreo, into the distance away from the chaos they had created.

"Oh shit. Devina" Dan sudden realises that he has checked on her, and immediately went inside, but when he did. Their feet froze once his eyes spotted them in a small puddle of crimson red blood, but only then did he break free from the invisible chains that held him still and rushed for them. "DEVINA!" He screamed slowing down as stepped in front of her, kneeling down slowly gently moving a hand under her head and lifted it up slowly. Forgetting the risks when it comes to moving an injured individual after a life threatening accident.

His head went down pressing it against hers, guilty eating him up for not being there to prevent this, not realising that tears were falling every drop hitting her face.

"I'm so sorry.. I wasn't able to protect you.." he muttered not expecting her to hear him, only to feel a weak trembling hand touch his head. Making him look directly at her, she's weak barely conscious, but alive smiling softly at him despite what just happened she's still fighting.

"Don't.. blame yourself... I love you" she struggled to speak, managing to get the words out slightly tearing up whilst wiping his as he hugged her close.

"I'm taking you to the hospital.. I can't lose you" he whispered taking off to the nearest hospital emergency room as she bled in his clawed hands, immediately turning to his humans form to avoid any unwanted attention. He knew there was so much time they had, and he didn't want to waste it. "Help her! Please.. she's dying!" He yelled calling out for any doctors or nurses, who immediately rushed in seeing the situation.

"Quickly, put her on the stretcher" a nurse demanded instructing the others to prepare immediate IVs and surgery. "Please stay here and we'll have someone to come get you once we're done" she added as he slumped into a chair, clothes from the party turned and stained in blood, he didn't care who saw him. They just wanted them to pull through.

He spent hours waiting. Eight agonising hours until the same nurse from earlier walked over to him, clearing their throat as he glanced up expecting the worst.

"Please tell me she's alive" he pleaded, hoping to get the news people only want.

"She is alive, stable and pulling through despite almost losing her twice during the surgery, but other than that. We're going to keep a close eye on them, and determine if they'll have a fighting chance or not" the nurses stayed bringing a sign of relief, but more heavy was to his shoulders.

"Can I- wait.. you said they. I only brought one person in" Dan asked quickly confused on the plural she had used, as only carried one person in that night. So he thought it could've been a simple mistake.

"Nope. We have confirmed it with the doctors. She is pregnant, approximately 2 months by how far the baby has developed. And by some miracle it survived" the nurses explained with proof and clear confidence behind their evidence, seeing his clear shock on finding this out and so late too.

"She's pregnant? How didn't I see it sooner! There was so many signs" he argued with himself not sure to either be happy or upset for them, and so many questions for Devina if she'll wake up and if she even knew about it either.

"Just pretend you didn't know and wait for her to wake up. I'm sure she'll be able to explain" the nurse said before walking off to deal with other patients in their daily routine checks. Leaving him sat there to ponder in his thoughts, until eventually having the confidence to go up to her room where she's laid bandaged up, their left lower arm in a cast from a fracture. Oxygen mask on and IVs in their right hand for fluids.

It took a few days for Devina to miraculously wake up. Heavy eyes slowly opening drowsy and yet alive, their eyes glancing to their right noticing Dan slumped over asleep in the chair beside the right side of her hospital bed.

"D.. Dan" she was still a bit weak and slightly grouchy, using their right arm to reach out for him as he was napping, completely oblivious of her waking up. Eventually their fingertips touching his shoulder feeling him jolt up, startled before quickly spotted her hand hovering nearby.

"Devina" He was relived to see them awake, despite having more colour back in her skin. Gently taking their hand in his, wanting to check that this was indeed real and not just a fraction of his imagination. "Are you really awake?" Dan was still unsure, even when she reached up culling his cheek as he leaned into it. Feeling the warm immediately comes in contact with him, confirming that this wasn't a dream.

"Why would I not be silly?" Devina asked giving him a tired smile, hearing him sigh whilst also relaxing the longer her hand remained.

"Did you know about it?" He randomly asked looking directly at her, seeing the confusion on her face.

"Can you be more direct please? I don't exactly know what you're referring to" she responded being genuinely confused on what he's on about, but when his expression became more intense she realised it had to be something serious.

"How long did you know about your pregnancy?" Dan asked more clearly seeing the widening in her eyes when hearing this, but froze unsure if this was just their mind making things up.

"You're joking, right? If I was pregnant I would've told you by now" Devina let out an uncomfortable laugh, not sure if he was being serious or not. Yet the seriousness in their face made it clear that it wasn't a joke. "You're serious. Am I pregnant?" She asked glancing down at her stomach then back at him, seeing the shift back to confusion on his face.

"The nurse told me you're 2 months along. And it would've explained why you've been acting weird these past few weeks, but.. I was extra careful" Dan said also talking to himself knowing how careful they were to avoid an accidental pregnancy, and yet here they were.

"You don't think one of the condoms broke?" She suggested which would've been noticed if a rubber were to break, as Dan quickly denied it. Before immediately thinking about the party they went to, the drunk passionate sex they had in the bathroom that night.

"Fuck.. the party" Dan groaned putting his head in his hands remembering glimpses of that night, as Devina realised what he meant. Blushing slightly when thinking about it.

"You were very keen to.. how did you put it. Breed me?" Devina stated seeing him go red in the face, trying to hide himself as she chuckled slightly at the sight. "Don't go all shy on me. It isn't like I hate the thought of it" she admitted seeing Dan's head perk up when hearing this, not mad at his last urges to stuff her muffin.

"You're not mad?" He asked a bit surprised and yet lured to know more, but if it was something she didn't mind. So did that mean she's alright with being unexpectedly pregnant?

"Why would I be? I always wondered what our kid would look like sometimes" Devina added sheepishly scratching the side of her cheek with a blush present on their cheeks.

"How the fuck do we tell the others?" He silently cusses not wanting everyone up his ass once the others knew about this. And Devina knew this meant they'll have to momentarily or forever say goodbye to their privacy and safe space.

"Don't yet. I need to recover and don't want to be bugged with constant questions about baby showers and gender reveals" Devina stated feeling an oncoming wave of emotions and a headache. Dan nodded and kissed her cheek understanding the stress of being pestered, and kept the talking to a minimum to let her rest.

During the week, Devina managed to be discharged home as Dan refused to leave her side since then. Keeping everyone and everything away from them in fear of harming the baby or worsening their condition.

The bump wasn't obvious yet, so they easily hid it with sweaters as she loves wearing turtle necks, but it slowly came odd that throughout the next 4 weeks no one like Solar came to hurt her. It's like they had just disappeared.

Soreo's POV:

I stayed in the mortal realm, since it seemed far more comfortable than back at home. Or at least whilst I had my human disguise on of course. I still wonder why Solar was so eager to leave too, it isn't like a royal to show such fear. Yet whenever I remember the feeling that Devina woman gave me still sticks with me. Almost familiar in a way.

My home here is comfortably and far from town, an abandoned house I turned into my own. I even started seeing a human woman, she's kind, beautiful and generous not caring about my true side at all. I am unsure if I should be worried or lucky?
