"So, how close are you to my son …"
"Jude," I fill in.
"Yes, Jude. I am really not good with names. So, how close are you to my son? He seems to hold such high regard for you, from the little I have seen just now."
Miko's mom looks at me with a little smile on her beautiful face as we walk further in the inner court towards the sitting area. There isn't anyone, the guests, around. Just caterers and some men in suits standing at certain points, all very alert.
"Oh, um," I swallow nervously. "We grew close when we started working together. I have known him for a little over a year now. He is a very magnetic person; it's hard not to want to know him."
"My son has always been that way," she says, as we sit down. "He was the brightest in class, the most talented, and very artsy too throughout his school life. You can imagine how popular that made him. Everyone wanted to be his friend or have a sliver of his attention on them."
