Meanwhile, he'd convinced Misty, Lyn, and Suzy—using the excuse that girls needed their beauty sleep—to go rest with Matori first. Even Jessie received special treatment this time.
"Seriously, picking nighttime to come..." muttered James from the grass as he sipped his coffee in exasperation.
"Well, they did manage to catch the reserve off guard under cover of darkness. With the wild Pokémon still asleep, these poachers really thought their plan through."
Meowth was eating a fish with Ash. After swallowing a bite, he turned to Ash and said, "Hey kid... why'd ya agree to let us help this time?"
Hearing Meowth's question, Ash poured him a glass of milk while replying, "What happens in Kanto stays in Kanto. If outsiders dare cause trouble here, they won't be leaving safely."
James' eyes lit up upon hearing Ash's words. "Great! I love how you're planning to carry those Hunter Group guys out! But seriously, couldn't they have come at a better time?"
"Stop complaining, want another cup of coffee?"
"Thanks, by the way, is there any cake left?"
"Plenty! Chansey, could you please bring that cake over here!"
