With Lyn joining the group, Ash's traveling party became even livelier. However, the poor Brock had to endure eating dog food every day. Watching Ash always chatting and laughing with three beauties (though in his opinion Misty didn't count) - his fiancées - Brock also started working hard to hit on older sisters with renewed determination.
Seeing Brock get rejected yet again, Lyn frowned and quietly asked Ash, "Ash, is Brock always like this normally?"
Before Ash could answer, Misty spoke up first.
"Absolutely right, he'll hit on any pretty older woman he sees. He's caused plenty of trouble for others."
Lyn heard Misty's response and nodded, then whispered in Ash's ear: "Ash, don't let them corrupt you."
Ash glanced at Lyn, Misty, and Suzy, then cracked a slight smile.
"I can barely keep track of the three I already have around me."
"Not bad with words, are you?"
Meowth glanced at Ash, then pulled out a pen and notebook to frantically jot things down.
"Gotta write this down, gotta write this down, meow!
Beep! Beep! Beep!
Just as Meowth was taking notes, one of Ash's communication devices rang. Upon receiving the call, Ash immediately turned serious.
"This is Ash. Officer Jenny, what's the matter?"
"I'm sorry to bother you now, Ash, but we need your help. An illegal hunter organization is planning to attack the wild Pokémon sanctuary. I noticed you're nearby, so I contacted you."
Officer Jenny's voice sounded urgent over the communication, and Ash, recognizing the situation, reassured her: "Don't worry, Officer Jenny, I'll gather my team right away."
"Thank you, Ash."
"Stay calm—reinforcements are on the way."
After ending the call, Suzy asked worriedly, "Is it a thief?"
"Hunters, huh?"
"Hmm, probably after the Kangaskhan. Must be the hunter organization..."
"Wait, wait!"*3
No sooner had Ash mentioned the Hunter organization than Team Rocket's Fire Squad emerged. Lyn, seeing these three individuals who had previously been beaten up by Ash suddenly appear, asked curiously, "Who are you?"
Jessie, "Since you've asked so sincerely—"
James, "We'll generously tell you!"
Jessie, "To protect the world from devastation!"
James, "To unite all peoples within our nation!"
Jessie, "To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
Jessie, "Jessie!"
James, "James!"
Jessie, "We're Team Rocket, blasting off at the speed of light!
James. A white hole of white tomorrow awaits us!"
Meowth. "That's right!?"
Ash's mouth twitched as he watched Team Rocket, barely suppressing the urge to smack them with a brick. "Alright. Now that you've introduced yourselves, you can start talking."
"What are you going to do next?"
Meowth looked at Ash and said seriously, "Kid, this time we're gonna help you out."
Hearing Team Rocket say this, Ash tilted his head in confusion and asked, "Why are you helping us?"
Jessie, "Those damn hunters actually bombarded us with cannons!"
James, "Exactly! Those were actual cannons! We absolutely have to get revenge for this!"
Seeing Team Rocket's trio's determined look of being dead-set on revenge, Ash nodded and said, "Alright then. Come with me. You three might actually be able to help out a lot."
"Thanks, kid!" *3
"Hey! I'm fifteen, which counts as an adult, and I even have a fiancée. Whatever—Brock, let's go! We've got urgent business to attend to!"
Seeing Brock still trying to flirt with the older girl—who looked completely exasperated—Ash had no choice but to walk over and grab him by the scruff of his neck.
"Let's go. Stop bothering people—can't you see she's annoyed? Sorry about this, miss. My friend here caused you trouble. Come on, let's move!"
"Miss! Might this humble gentleman have the honor of treating you to dinner? Ash, wait for me—wait! Huh?! What?!"
Facing Brock's request, Ash chose to completely ignore it, grabbing Brock by the collar and dragging him away. Meanwhile, the Psyduck perched on Ash's backpack waved at the older sister who had just been hit on.
The woman watched Ash and couldn't help but remark, "Why can't the guys who hit on me be as polite as that handsome boy? Oh well, I still need to conduct that interview. Seriously, why is Dai taking so long? Because of him, I ended up getting approached by some weirdo."
With that, the woman who appeared to be a reporter walked off, unaware that she would soon cross paths with Ash and his companions again, forming an unexpected connection.
