"It's good that you brought him here; it appears that he suffered a severe concussion." The doctor said after a quick scan of my body.
His office was full of weird machines, constantly pumping odd fluids into his body.
"What's that?" I asked.
"The back is also heavily injured; it's a miracle he can stand as if nothing happened." He commented as he gave a small nod to the nurse standing behind me; she, in return, put both her hands under my chin and forced me to sit upright as another nurse jammed a syringe in my neck.
What the—
"What the hell are you…" My speech became slurred, I quickly lost most of my strength, and when I tried to stand up, I rapidly felt dizzy.
The nurse quickly moved the chair behind me out of the way, then she pulled me backwards so that I could fall onto a wheelchair they brought there.
My vision was starting to get blurry, my eyelids felt particularly heavy, and I saw a projection the doctor showed my mother, highlighting a couple of broken ribs, the cracks that had formed in my skull, and a bunch of red spots all over my body.
Damn, that looks pretty serious.
I commented before I fully passed out.
When I woke up, I was lying in my bed, and a strange demon whose body was solely composed of a floating ball of flames was hovering over my head, floating in circles while mumbling nonsense.
The whole room was painted red; I could see weird algae growing all around me as the entire room was submerged in water.
Huh, at this point it's not even trying to fool me with a realistic illusion; this is pure chaos.
I turned my head around to look outside the window and saw the whole city in ruins; the large crystal place at the center of the city was shattered. It was so big it dwarfed any other building present in the city.
Bubbles were leaking from within it, large bubbles, as big as small buildings. The other palaces and houses were claimed by the ocean; some of them had huge craters within them, and some appeared as if a beast had cleaved through them using its sharp claws.
Many schools of different kinds of fish were using those broken buildings as their homes; some of those fish were glowing in the dark ocean. Strangely enough, a lot of the buildings were still emitting light; the ones in my bedroom, the streetlight, and many other buildings were still left with their lights on.
Huh, this is strange.
"Rotor Motion, Killer J, The Mad King, The Noble Slayer, The Scarlet Prince—all of them, all of them." The demon kept repeating those words.
Huh? Me? What does that have to do with anything?
"Oi, spill the beans. Why did you just mention my name?" I shouted to the demonic-looking ball of flame, but I received no answer; it just kept repeating the same line over and over again.
What did I expect?
I got up from my bed and approached the window to get a better view of the outside, when suddenly the four corners of my room lit on fire.
"It's your fault! You're the reason the floating heavenly city plunged into the abyss; you doomed our world!" The skull shouted at me as the flames began to take shape.
The flame burst out in a small explosion, forming the hair of the demon. As the rest of his face began to take form, his eyes formed first, glowing red eyes with extremely dark irises with a strange spiral pattern engraved on them, constantly spinning at an ever-increasing speed.
His mouth was filled with sharp and pointy teeth; magma was drooling off his mouth as his laughter echoed throughout the city.
"Look who we have here. What have you come here for? To mock us?" He shouted, his eyes looking in different directions, scanning the room. Judging by the tone of his voice, he didn't seem sane.
"Are you talking about me?" I asked him.
It's my first time interacting with an illusion; I wonder if he can respond to me.
The demon's laughter grew louder and louder as flames began to pour out of its mouth, then he blew all of those flames over me.
They initially startled me, but I was quickly reminded I was in an illusion when those flames blew over my body, leaving no injury; the demon, however, had disappeared once the flames were gone.
I guess I can't interact with the beings in an illusion. Well, it's better this way; it makes it easier to distinguish the illusion from the real thing.
The surrounding area had changed from underwater to a volcanic pit filled with lava; it was slowly melting everything around me, destroying every building nearby.
That's it, I'm done with this bullshit.
I turned around and began rummaging through my furniture in search of my pills. I first started with my nightstand but quickly found it empty.
It's impossible.
Upon closer inspection the items were still there; I could somewhat feel them, not directly, but if I touched around, grabbed, and pulled the air, I could find some resistance.
So I kept rummaging through the room in search of the smallest object that could put up resistance, throwing everything else aside, and as I did so I began to feel the room gradually becoming warmer and warmer.
These fucking illusions. Why are my pills not ready by my side?
I kept racing with time, desperately searching for the small plastic container before the temperature could rise any further. I searched through my drawers, through my closet, and anything I could find.
I eventually found the small container in my bathroom, but when I tried to open it, someone stopped me. They had a hold of my right arm, so I dropped the container and caught it with my left hand and tried to put the whole container in my mouth.
Whoever that invisible hand belonged to, it quickly let go of me and then pulled out the invisible container by force.
"Hey! I need that; give it back." I screamed.
I tried tackling the invisible figure but couldn't find it. I rushed out of the bathroom with my hands forward in hope of catching the invisible thief, but it was impossible chasing a target I couldn't see or hear.
I began to sweat heavily because of the constant rise in temperature. My body was slowly growing weaker; breathing felt painful as the temperature reached insane heights.
Then the walls of my room began to freeze, but that wasn't enough, as the temperature of the lava was quickly melting the ice, forming steam within the room.
Things were progressively getting worse until the invisible entity took me in its arms and proceeded to carry me away from that room in hope of escaping that head, all the while using its powers to lower the temperature of the house.
Then everything shattered; the illusion was shattered into a thousand small pieces, the temperature went back to normal, and everything turned back to normal; the furniture that was once set on fire was now encased in ice.
The invisible entity that was carrying me turned out to be the cat maid. She collapsed on her knees shortly after we were saved by my mother. She was drenched in sweat and was also the origin of the ice.
My mother was standing in front of me, with a strange expression on her face; she seemed genuinely worried for some reason.
"I need my pills back." I uttered while trying to crawl away from the maid's hands.
