Chapter 73 - Confrontation

What a pain in the ass. Why can't they just bow their heads? Why does everything have to be so annoying around these parts? I don't remember things being so annoying the other times I came to visit this place.

"What about…" I wanted to inquire about the injured student, but then a number of nurses rushed in and carried the noble with a hole in his chest away, using a weird unguent to stop blood from spilling out of his body.

The principal turned around and glared at me with a cold, piercing stare. I wasn't at all bothered by it; the moment he looked at me, I was immediately reminded of how pathetic he looked when trying to stand up to my mother; he was completely powerless.

What's the point of trying to look tough? I already know you're not going to do much about it.

"I guess the nurses are somehow going to fix him, man… I kind of feel sorry for him; poor guy, he got caught in all of this while being an innocent bystander." I continued my comment as I began to follow the principal to his office.

Even Leo rolled his eyes at the mere thought of having to follow that guy.

"Do we really have to do this now? Can't we wait until the day is over so you can talk directly with our parents?" Leo asked the principal.

Oh, you sneaky bastard, is that how you do things up here? I bet they won't even want to escalate things further, so by bringing their name into the discussion, maybe we can all sweep this under a rug… Great idea.

"You…" The noble was seemingly offended by such a proposal, but I knew, deep down, he feared that outcome, because if our parents came face-to-face, it was him that would've ended up having to bow his head.

Ahh… I can't wait; I really hope that happens.

I was still lost in that fantasy when I felt Leo suddenly pull me to the side.

"Hey, wipe that smile off your face; it's creepy." He whispered to me.

Smile? Was I smiling? Huh… I didn't even notice it…

I quickly tried to recompose myself, and as I looked around, I spotted a familiar face chanting in the hallways. A blonde beauty with light-colored eyes and red lips, a slender body, and a beautiful dress, she stood out from the rest of the students, as they were all wearing the standard uniform.

I recognized that girl immediately; she was the one that had caught my attention, so as we passed by her class, I waved my hand at her.

She looked at me confused while awkwardly waving back at me.

"You suck at this." Leo commented.

"I'll get better at it over time." I confidently replied as I strolled forward while cracking my knuckles, thinking it made me look cooler.

I was full of spirit when we turned to the right and saw that the principal was taking the stairs.

"Hey, stop frowning." Leo reprimanded me almost immediately.

"Can't we… use the elevator today? I'm still feeling full from all the food I ate, and I wouldn't want to get an upset—" Before I could finish my sentence, the noble behind me kicked me on my back, pushing me down the flight of stairs.

Oh, you little…

I quickly got back up and rolled up my sleeves to get ready for a brawl when the principal's flames formed a wall in between us.

I wanted to leave at least one punch on that guy's face, but ultimately I gave up; I didn't want to set myself on fire just to get even.

I immediately turned over to glare at the principal and saw that he was ignoring us; he kept slowly going down the stairs, ignoring the commotion we were causing.

That piece of…

"You're treading on thin ice defending him. Do I have to remind you what happened last time you were retarded enough to stand your ground in front of my mother?" I gave the principal a stern warning; I was basically hissing at him, hoping he would turn down the wall and allow me to fight the noble using my own powers, but he didn't budge.

He simply kept going forward, moving the wall at the same speed, forcing me to walk at his pace.

I followed quietly behind his footsteps, putting my hands in my pockets and spitting on the ground as a sign of protest. I wasn't about to comply that easily with a guy who couldn't do much against my family. Unless my mother commanded me, there was no way I would ever show respect to that guy.

Back on the ground floor, in front of the principal's office, were standing a couple of well-dressed individuals, one male and one female.

The female had blonde hair and green eyes, her hair tied with a hairpin with many diamonds decorating it. She had a chain around her neck ornate with a beautiful purple gem, and she was wearing a special dress that seemed very tight.

It covered just one leg; to cover up the other, she was wearing a weird black see-through layer of clothing around the leg. The black dress had plenty of golden flowers embroidered in it.

She was smoking through a pipe and didn't seem at all pleased to be here.

Next to her was a man, a tall man probably nearing his forties, with golden glowing eyes and white hair, having a clean-shaven face with a constant stern look on his face behind his square glasses.

He was dressed in a gray military outfit, proudly wearing many badges on his chest, standing behind the woman, and walking with a strange cane.

I saw the principal stop for a moment; he hesitated before he made his next step, then removed the wall, allowing the other two to step forward.

As the principal walked ahead, he was immediately scolded by the woman; I couldn't quite understand what she was talking about. She wasn't speaking in the usual language, but she pointed to her kid and ordered him to get there.

He had a black eye and many scratches all over his body, probably gotten after a small fight with Leo. Leo too was covered in bruises, but fortunately for him no visible injury had been left on his face.

Mhh? Is that his mother? Why is she… Hey, cover up, old lady! I can see your panties from here! And what's with the man standing behind her? Why is he here? Is he the father?

The mother then began to scold her own kid in front of everyone as she dragged him by the ear towards the office of the principal. The man behind her followed them quietly while the principal stood outside watching the events go down from a safe distance.

I tried to do my best to keep a stone-cold expression, but I couldn't stop the corners of my mouth from slowly rising; the spectacle in front of me was just too enjoyable for me to watch.

It's a shame I don't have my old phone; I would've loved to record that.

I thought as I stepped forward towards the office with confidence, then once I got in, I took a seat and sat down in the chair usually reserved for the parents. I felt like the most confident man in the world.

I turned around to take a peek back at Leo. He was all smiles; he had put on his most innocent-looking face and smile as he was walking towards us along with the principal. Next to them was my personal bodyguard, out of breath from probably having run back and forth throughout the school to search for me.

I kind of felt sorry for her; after I began sleeping at my uncle's place, I've been actively avoiding her every chance I had.

Wait, if she's here, does that mean Mother already knows I got in trouble? Argh! Another headache is incoming… Now I really don't want to go back to my own house; I should probably try to end this as soon as possible so that I can quickly return to my class. Maybe that way I can avoid having to meet her; she can discuss things with that stuck-up-looking pervert.

Once the principal got in, he closed the doors and returned to glare in my direction.

Oi, why me specifically? He's the one who started things! I just returned the favor.
