Chapter 72 - Confrontation

I can do it! Deep breaths, deep breaths, don't stutter here, your whole image is depending on this, we own this shit! That's right, everything depends on the next 30 minutes.

After having eaten our meal, we headed back to our classroom. It was almost recess time; the bell was about to ring, and we were standing in front of the class as if nothing had happened.

The professor rolled his eyes backwards when he noticed us returning but didn't make a single comment and simply proceeded with his lesson, while half of the class was sleeping through his lecture.

I exchanged a small fist bump with Leo to calm down my nerves before the bell rang; as soon as it rang, half of the class began to wake up, and we walked in like we owned the place.

With straight backs, a confident pace, and unwavering confidence, we headed back to our seats, much to our teacher's disapproval.

Once we returned, we noticed a couple of pens stabbed into the screen installed within our tables; the glass had shattered entirely, making it impossible to use.

I could feel everyone's stare; they were waiting for our reaction. The only possible suspects were the guys sitting next to us, the ones wearing the black uniform.

Not these people again… Who do they think they are to mess with us like this? If I let them get away scot-free, it'll only get worse for us, so what we need is a fast strike, one that warns them that there will be no second chance if they mess with us.

The effects of the pill were weakening, so I used this opportunity to gather my power and unleash a transformation, summoning a sword of light that flew straight towards their desk, cutting everything in its path in a straight line, and stabbing an innocent student on the other side of the classroom as well.

I then instinctively summoned a shield of light in between me and the noble, successfully blocking a sneak attack from him.

In a split second he was able to get up from his seat and close the gap, trying to land a punch to my head to knock me out again. I couldn't help but smirk at him when I saw his fist get injured from his own attack.

Wow!

He then began unleashing a wave of fists against the wall in between us in hopes of breaking the barrier, so I sent a blast of light that sent him flying away across the room. Weird green sprouts were growing from the small injury on his knuckles.

Watching his helpless body being flung across the classroom brought me a sense of satisfaction never felt before, to the point I felt an incredible urge to walk up to him and step on him to humiliate him further.

Blood was slowly rushing to my head, and just as I took my first step forward, Leo stopped me, putting his arm in front of me.

"I can take it from here." Leo whispered to me as he pushed me aside.

The situation was growing insanely tense; the maids of the noble guy were hurrying to his position to check his well-being, some others were picking up their weapons, and the teacher had hidden himself beneath his desk.

It seemed like madness took over the classroom.

I collapsed onto my chair and took out a pill out of the container to eat.

"I think we started off on the wrong foot, don't you think?" Leo commented sarcastically to the guy we just beat, all the while creating a mantle of flames.

"You're being too arrogant. Do you think you suddenly own this place just because we let you in?" The noble hissed at Leo while his maids helped him get back on his feet.

"I don't care what you have to say here; in this situation you're clearly the one at fault. Now you either beg us on your knees to forgive you, or feel free to escalate things and let our parents deal with this." Leo said it was at that moment the facade of the innocent and carefree child disappeared completely for a moment that seemed to last an eternity.

His expression turned serious as he seemed to start gathering more and more demonic energy as he was getting ready to fight.

"You… If you think you can act as our lord just because you're the nephew of the Scarlet Devil, you—"

"Come on then, prove me wrong." Leo taunted him after he saw his own servants preparing themselves for a fight.

If a fight broke out, the outcome was obvious. Leo was going to be the victor, and the guy probably knew it.

"You're really asking for a beating." The noble said as he advanced confidently towards us.

Oh, does he know he's getting in a fight he can't win? What a fucking retard; I hope his ego gets him killed one day.

I, on the other hand, sat back down on my seat, ready to enjoy the spectacle. I tried to lean back on the chair; I wanted to rock the chair to relax my nerves a bit. I still felt my blood pumping with rage. The table was in the way, and I felt like I was about to go crazy because everyone was panicking over the guy I stabbed by accident.

I didn't mean to; I just had a poor grip on my power. I was so afraid of being slower than the guy that I made the sword too fast for me to properly control… I'll apologize when I get the chance, maybe.

I wanted to rest my legs on something, but if I put them over the table, I was sure to get some glass shards stuck on them, so, frustrated, I grabbed the table, ripped it off where it was installed, and put it upside down to have a place to rest my legs.

I also broke the chair legs so that I could rock it as much as I wanted.

"Hey, what… are you doing?" The girl sitting in front of me asked.

She was exuding a faint but alluring smell, a smell so invigorating it was making me feel somewhat restless.

So this is what fear feels like.

The fear she had of my powers was being absorbed and giving me even more energy. She wasn't the only one; the whole class was in fear, but most of that alluring scent was directed to the arguing in the background, not me.

It was the first time I felt so energetic. I felt as if I was ready to run a marathon; so much energy was surging through my body I could barely stand still.

"I'm just making myself comfortable." I answered.

She was quite cute, with brown hair; she had a chubby face and a slender body, and her green eyes left me in a daze. She wasn't the most beautiful girl in the class, but I found myself strangely attracted to her eyes.

In the meantime someone had run away from the class to go call some nurses; the many hallways were starting to fill up with chatter as the many students were exiting the classes to enjoy recess.

I glanced at Leo and saw he was still arguing with the noble; the argument didn't seem like it was anywhere near ending.

"What's your name?" I asked her before she could utter another word.

She appeared hesitant; it was obvious she was also part of the crowd that was scared of me, but despite that, she still came forward to talk. Her beauty was what convinced me to give her the time of day.

"I-I'm Shia." She sheepishly answered as she turned her face away to not meet my eyes; the other student sitting beside her also seemed to be in quite the pinch. A young boy with short and wavy blue hair.

His whole body was trembling, yet he didn't move out from his seat like the rest of the class did; he didn't seem to fear me like the rest of them.

Oh, are you perhaps angry at me? Why? Or is there something else that's making you tremble this much?

One of the noble's bodyguards tried to stand in between Leo and his master only to get his head cut off by Leo's bodyguards.

Wow, I have never seen such a bloody school? I don't think that's normal given the reaction the others are having… Mhhh, I wonder why all of these people are always trying to fight impossible battles? Like, what do you think is going to happen if you piss off the family of the strongest being in the world?

"Enough!" A voice boomed and echoed throughout the whole school.

As new flames emerged from the walls, the principal appeared. Strangely enough, he didn't die that day when he confronted my mother; however, she did leave a nasty scar on the left side of his face, permanently blinding one of his eyes.

"To my office, the three of you." He shouted at us.

"Why me? I didn't do anything wrong this time!" I complained and protested but immediately quieted down when he turned around to give me an extremely cold glare.

Fine. But mind you, it's not my fault that guy is bleeding to death.
