Chapter 266: System Features - II
Domeric happily left the "Champion" tab and moved to the adjacent "Companions" tab.
This tab displayed the animals and magical creatures with whom Domeric had magical bonds.
Hedwig, Dobby, Imposter Queen Mannequin, and Imposter Mannequins were the companions whose information was currently available here.
Presumably, if he bonded with other creatures as Skinchangers in the future, they would also be listed here.
This tab allowed Domeric to track the status and location of his bonded companions. He could even remotely form a Skinchanger bond with them.
This would allow him to more easily monitor the Imposter Mannequins he had sent on missions and issue orders accordingly.
At the same time, the information they obtained could reach Domeric much more quickly. The system's Companions feature would allow Domeric to sense if one of his companions needed to deliver an urgent message or was in a dangerous situation.
It was another useful feature that Domeric would find helpful, but there was nothing he could do with it at the moment, so he moved on to the next active tab: "Store."
When Domeric entered the Store tab, he noticed that there were other sub-tabs there, and there was a currency field marked "gold dragons" at the bottom right of the screen. However, the current amount was zero.
As far as Domeric could tell, to purchase items in this Store area, he needed first to load gold dragons into the system. This wasn't a problem for Domeric. After all, the gold he had collected from Valyria was still piled high in the Underground Base.
The real issue was whether there would be something useful for him in the Store.
And the Store didn't disappoint him.
When Domeric clicked on the "Orbs" category, the first sub-category in the Store, he was presented with a list of white, green, blue, and red orbs. Each had a different name and description.
Domeric soon realized that these were the Reward Orbs he hadn't been able to select in the Endless Void. When Domeric's Deathly Hallows tattoo gathered enough magic, he could only choose a certain number of Orbs as rewards, and the rest just had to stay there.
But now it looked like Domeric could purchase the remaining Orbs with gold dragons.
This was good news for Domeric. While the rewards seemed small compared to what he had already received, they were still quite useful for him and his land.
Domeric quickly began browsing the other sub-tabs. The next three sub-tabs were "Potion Ingredients," "Wands," and "Other Items."
Potion ingredients contained all the potion-making ingredients from this and his previous world. This would significantly increase Domeric's potion-making abilities. He no longer had to search for equivalent ingredients or spend a long time growing them.
Furthermore, some potion ingredients were impossible to find in this world. Many potions in the old world used the materials of magical creatures from that world as ingredients.
While some of these ingredients had similar alternatives in this world, others did not. No matter what Domeric did, ingredients like Phoenix Tears, Unicorn Horns, and Basilisk Venom were impossible to find in this world.
Moreover, now he could simply buy the ingredients from the Store, place them in the Alchemy Fountain, and leave the potion-making to the magic item.
The Wands sub-tab contained a variety of wands Domeric hadn't previously known could be crafted from these materials. There were even wands available to high wizards, made from three different materials and three cores, and to supreme wizard wands made from seven different materials and seven cores.
Domeric seems to be unable to purchase wands for high and supreme wizards at the moment, but he could have found a wand here that was 100% compatible with him; however, he postponed it for now. He aimed to finish examining the system first; after all, it wasn't a pressing matter.
The final sub-tab under Store, "Other Items," contained a variety of different magical items.
Quick-Quotes Quills, Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, Golden Snitch and other Quidditch props, Chocolate Frogs, and many more magical items.
Frankly, Domeric hadn't anticipated seeing so many items and snacks from his old world. But it was a pleasant surprise.
Domeric glanced at the sub-tabs next to the "Other Items" sub-tab, but they were unnamed and dimmed compared to the others. The other tabs next to the main "Store" tab were the same.
Domeric suspected this was because all the pieces of his Death Prince power hadn't yet been assembled. The other tabs and features would likely unlock as Luna and Hermione gathered more of their powers.
Domeric then rose from his chair and went to the room where he had piled up the gold. He raised his hand to one of the piles, and the gold began to fly toward him, disappearing quickly.
Meanwhile, Domeric was monitoring the number of golden dragons in the Shop section of the system. After a while, seeing that the amount had surpassed 5 million gold dragons, Domeric lowered his hand, and the gold stopped flying towards him.
The piles of gold in front of him easily contained dozens of times that amount, but for Domeric, it was enough for now.
After leaving the room and closing the door, Domeric returned to his chair and sat down.
After pouring himself a fresh cup of tea, he went into the Other Items sub-tab of the Store and bought some of his favorite Wizarding snacks.
After the purchase, the snacks appeared in Domeric's inventory, and with a single thought, they appeared on the coffee table in front of him.
Then, while enjoying his new snacks and drinking his tea, he began examining the wands in the Store's Wands section.
But after a while, he realized he had no idea how to choose the perfect wand for himself, so he decided to try a new method.
He mentally asked the Store to filter the wands he could purchase, ranking them from most compatible to least compatible.
And contrary to Domeric's expectations, this request worked. While many wands were removed from the list, percentages indicating the compatibility of the wands appeared underneath them.
At the top of the list stood a single wand, the only one with a three-digit compatibility rating compared to the others.
Yew Wood, Thunderbird Heartstring Core, and 14 inches. 100% compatibility.
Its price was seven golden dragons, but the price didn't matter to Domeric. He quickly purchased the wand, and his new wand appeared in his inventory.
Then, with a thought from Domeric, the new Yew wand appeared in the right hand of the shadow figure in the Equipment section.
The Holly wand, which had been in the figure's right hand a moment ago, was now in his left hand.
Domeric summoned his new wand with a single thought, and when Domeric took it, a current of air rippled around him. This wand radiated magical power far stronger than the one Holly had first wielded.
And Domeric could tell that the spells he cast with this wand would be both more powerful and easier to cast.
Domeric, pleased with his new wand, sent it back to the Equipment section and stood up to return to his room in Winterfell.
He planned to deal with the Orbs and other items in the Store later. It was already quite late, and he didn't want to sacrifice any more sleep.
Besides, Domeric preferred to plan before purchasing items from the Store. Therefore, he planned to deal with them after he finished his work in Winterfell and returned to the Dreadfort. After all, the Store items weren't going anywhere.
Domeric apparated his room in Winterfell and, upon arriving, he saw Ygritte sleeping in his bed.
He removed his boots quietly, climbed onto the bed, and lay down next to her.
She mumbled something in her dream and moved forward to burrow her face in his chest.
He smiled and kissed her forehead before he put an arm around her and fell asleep.
