Chapter 265 - System Features - I

Chapter 265: System Features - I

Domeric had two plausible scenarios in mind for why his Holly-Phoenix wand wasn't perfectly compatible with him.

First, his body in this world wasn't the same as his old one. Therefore, his old wand wasn't fully compatible with his new body.

Second, his wand wasn't fully compatible with him from the very beginning. After all, Garrick Ollivander, instead of making custom wands, matched his premade wands with wizards and witches. This match might have been considered suitable only if the wand had a level of compatibility above a certain threshold.

This threshold could be 75% compatibility or 51% compatibility. Frankly, Domeric didn't think Ollivander's shop had enough wands that were 100% compatible with every customer. This required Ollivander to produce and stockpile wands of every combination of tree, core, and length, including rare trees and rare cores.

Furthermore, Garrick Ollivander typically used Dragon Heartstring, Phoenix Feather, and Unicorn Hair cores for his wands. It would be unreasonable to assume that any of these three cores would be 100% compatible with everyone.

The core of Fleur Delacour's wand was Veela Hair. If Fleur had purchased a wand from Ollivander, Garrick Ollivander would likely have found a wand that would match, but Domeric doubted that the wand would be 100% compatible with Fleur.

Despite his wand's low compatibility with, the fact that he could still use his wand comfortably likely had something to do with Domeric's soul. While his body in this world was different, his soul remained the same as it had in his previous world, and using the same wand throughout his life had caused him to experience a specific synchronization with it.

This was generally unique to wands. As long as their wielders valued them, they would grow with their wielders and become more attached to them.

Other focuses, primarily the warlock foci, such as the Gryffindor Sword, were often passed down from one generation to the next. And if these foci recognized their new wielders, their compatibility would always be 100%.

Wands, by contrast, generally refused to accept other users after their current wielder, much like Neville Longbottom's father's wand resisted Neville while he was using it.

Alas, there was nothing Domeric could do about it. If it weren't for the Holly-Phoenix wand, he would still have to use the crude wands he'd crafted himself from a weirwood tree.

Now that he was finished with the Equipment section, Domeric turned his attention to the Status section and began reading the information there.

---------------

The information was initially familiar to Domeric, but he was surprised to see a Greenseer part in the Magical Race section. Since when was he a Greenseer?

And when he reached the Title section, he skipped over it without even bothering to read it. It wasn't like they were of any use to him anyway.

What truly surprised Domeric again was the information in the Abilities section. The first of the three abilities was System itself, a manifestation of the ability bestowed upon him by Lady Death.

But where did the Skinchanger and Greensight abilities come from? It was probably related to the appearance of the Greenseer phrase in the magical race, but where did that come from?

More importantly, wouldn't he have been aware of them if he had these abilities? His only bond until now was with his companion, Hedwig. But it was because of the bond that the Deathly Hallows had established between them. He had tried to bond with other animals back then, but to no avail.

As Domeric contemplated these two abilities, System must have realized his predicament, because a new system screen opened in front of him.

---------------

[Skinchanger: It is an ability that allows the user to enter the minds of living beings and control them. Because the user is a wizard, his mind can handle multiple consciousnesses simultaneously, allowing him to control other minds while maintaining control of his own body.]

[Greenseer: It is the ability to have prophetic dreams called green dreams. Furthermore, events surrounding other Weirwood Trees can be seen and monitored through the Heart Tree. With advanced skill, it's even possible to observe the past and future.]

[Attention: The user has gained the Skinchanger and Greenseer abilities through Lady Terra's blessing. Activation of these abilities requires a connection to Nature through a Heart Tree.]

---------------

"Oh... Lady Terra said that after giving me her blessing, I would gain certain abilities and that I would have to discover them myself, right? Frankly, I completely forgot about that in my busy schedule. If I hadn't seen it in the system, I would have thought the blessing simply gave me leadership of the Children of Forest." Domeric muttered to himself.

This matter was entirely his own fault.

At least now he knew what to do. Ironically, this morning he had envied Brandon Stark for being a greenseer, and by evening he had learned he was also one.

Domeric made a note of what he had to become a Greenseer and shifted his attention to the far-right section of the screen—the Inventory.

Frankly, it provided essentially unlimited storage. It was a larger, more secure version of Domeric's bottomless pouch.

Bottomless pouches could be lost or damaged. Furthermore, bottomless pouches couldn't preserve the freshness of items. Perishable items needed to be charmed separately with Statis Charm.

But the Inventory had no such shortcomings. The contents could always remain intact and fresh. Its only drawback was that it couldn't contain living beings, like Domeric's Magical Suitcase.

So, without a second thought, Domeric picked up his bottomless pouch, opened it, and with a mental wish, everything in the pouch was transferred to his inventory. After all, the inventory was safer, and accessing items was faster.

As the inventory filled with items, Domeric saw a new button appear in the Equipment section and began flashing. "Quick Equip" was written on it.

Domeric mentally clicked the button, and some items in his inventory disappeared, appearing on or around the shadowy human silhouette in the Equipment area.

Here were Domeric's magical armor, knock-off invisibility cloak, hoverboard, flying broomstick, Excalibur sword, Valyrian shield, Dragonglass dagger, and all the other equipment he could use and equip.

Frankly, this was quite beneficial for Domeric. Now he could instantly access not only soul-bound items but also all his gear and equip them in milliseconds.

Previously, Domeric had to retrieve many items from his bottomless pouch to access them. And sometimes he had to put on some gear piece by piece, like his magical armor.

So he was happy to have a new power that would increase his safety and save him trouble.
