ZEKE's POV
Right then, I saw the fires—flickering vividly against the dark sky. I didn't need anyone to tell me; I knew instantly that it was the wizards' tent. My gut clenched. The last thing I wanted was to be outsmarted by them, especially when I barely understood how they operated in the first place. The truth was, I was gambling everything. I didn't even know if this was something normal or if I was walking straight into something far worse.
I took two full minutes to scan the surroundings carefully. That was when it hit me—just about three of their soldiers were in the camp. At first, I assumed it had to be some sort of trap or an illusion meant to confuse me. But as the silence dragged on and nothing changed, another thought crept in. Either this really was a trap, or the wizards were just naturally reckless... or foolish.
