"Report: The test report on the dark power of the high dimension has arrived."
The voice of the system was still as mechanical and cold as ever, but it instantly dispelled all of Noah's fatigue. He immediately sat up, apologized to Ms. Heifen, who was looking at him in confusion, and quickly ran back to his room.
Ms. Heifen didn't question Noah's mysterious behavior. In her experience, magicians were often like this. Perhaps Kamar-Taj needed Noah for something, so she simply found a book and sat down on the sofa to read.
"Okay, give me the report now," Noah said as he entered his room. He didn't hesitate for a moment.
Noah was eager to see what the system had discovered. Every time the system analyzed something for him, he had gained unimaginable benefits. Although the system never spoke in excess, and often tricked him, Noah had to admit that he had benefited greatly, especially with his current physical condition.
His physical fitness had long surpassed the imagination of ordinary people. However, Noah's fighting ability was still poor. Without the use of magic, he felt that even a random soldier could knock him down. But his body had surprised him in other aspects.
His recovery and physical endurance were beyond remarkable. Noah felt as though "he could never exhaust his physical strength." No matter how much he consumed, he always recovered quickly.
At this point, Noah could use disguise magic, don a suit, and pretend to be Captain America—safely, of course. Noah didn't think Captain America's physical fitness was superior to his own. That was a fact.
Though Captain America and Thanos appeared to fight evenly later on, Noah recalled how Thanos had always been more concerned with Thor than with Tony or Cap. Thanos had toyed with them, and the only real damage they inflicted on him was a small scar on his face.
"The report results are out. Please check," the system's voice interrupted Noah's thoughts.
Soon, the system presented the report to Noah, which appeared in his mind. Noah only had to close his eyes to read it. The system even explained the findings as he read.
"The report results show a high-purity energy body, but the energy body contains a bewitching will."
"Bewitching will?" Noah frowned. This wasn't good news.
The system quickly filled in the gaps. "The will contained in this kind of power is deadly to ordinary people. It can seduce and lead someone into total darkness. Even a magician could face great danger if they aren't careful."
Noah had been mentally prepared for this, so he remained calm. However, the concept of "will" confused him. If the system said this energy had the power to seduce, Noah could understand that. But the term "will" made him wonder: wasn't "will" something only a person could possess?
"Because this energy has a master," the system answered without needing Noah to ask further questions.
"A master?" Noah's frown deepened. "Dormammu?"
"Yes, but not quite," the system's voice remained as mechanical as ever.
Noah scratched his chin thoughtfully. The answer was vague, but he quickly pieced things together after reading the rest of the report. The energy had a will because it had a master. Even at his current level, Noah's magic had its own will, though it was nearly nonexistent.
The dark dimension space, as Noah had suspected, couldn't be an empty realm. It had likely had an owner for a long time, but Noah wasn't sure what troubles had led to the owner's demise. What he could confirm was that the owner of the dark dimension was dead.
Dormammu, a former Earth magician, had accidentally entered the realm without the owner's protection. Over time, he became immersed in its terrifying power and will, turning into something beyond his original self—a being of immense power in the multiverse.
"I have to say, despite his misfortune, Dormammu is quite lucky," Noah mused after reading the report.
"Your thoughts are dangerous," the system warned in its cold tone.
"What's wrong? I was just commenting on his luck," Noah responded.
"You better not entertain such thoughts. Dormammu is probably no longer who he once was. Besides, do you realize that Dormammu is in the same universe as you? Perhaps the universe he's in is stronger, which allowed him to survive there instead of being burned to ash when he entered that space."
Noah felt a little embarrassed. The system had a point. In the multiverse, even someone claiming to be from Earth might not be from the same Earth as Noah's. It was a reminder of how the multiverse worked. For instance, when the Avengers traveled through quantum space, they entered a parallel universe's version of Earth.
Noah wasn't sure if Dormammu still retained any traces of his former self. The power and will he had absorbed were so overwhelming that it was hard to say whether Dormammu was still the magician from that Earth—or if he had become someone entirely different, retaining only vague memories.
"Huh, I understand," Noah muttered, shaking his head. "I won't entertain such thoughts, don't worry. If I lose myself, then I wouldn't see the point of continuing to live."
Noah continued to read through the reports. As for the origin of the will within the power, it didn't matter much. But he did remain curious about when his teacher, Ancient One, had first encountered these powers.
"Based on your memory and the characteristics of this world, your teacher likely encountered these energies around the seventh level. However, she was probably on the brink of death when she came into contact with them," the system suggested.
"On the brink of death? I recall that the original story mentioned Ancient One using these powers to prolong her life, but how could she have been on the verge of death?" Noah puzzled.
"Is this world exactly the same as the one in your memory?" the system countered with another question.
Noah blinked, realizing the point. It wasn't exactly the same. After all, there was no Hogwarts in this world, and the Ministry of Magic didn't exist in his original world. And of course, mutants didn't exist in the original universe, likely due to copyright issues.
While this world was similar to the one Noah remembered, it wasn't the same. It was a parallel world, almost identical, but fundamentally different.
"They're still two similar flowers," Noah grumbled.
"Your understanding is correct, but perhaps it's not ideal to use other people's lines," the system remarked coldly, its tone almost a joke.
Noah sighed, "Forget it. Don't think about it. Keep talking about my teacher, even if it's just your guesswork."
"Your teacher likely encountered these powers while dying or discovered the dark dimension's space. Instead of entering, she extracted some of the power and used it to restore herself. She's highly perceptive, so she could sense what these powers contained. She chose to wield them for her own purposes," the system continued.
Noah listened carefully. The system's conclusions seemed to align with his own. Though the initial encounter differed, the result was similar. Ancient One, after using these powers, had recovered, but she likely struggled with their influence for some time.
Unlike the comics, where the Ancient One struck a bargain with Dormammu, here, the Ancient One had purged the will from the powers and used the pure magic for herself. This act of using the power likely attracted the attention of Dormammu, the true owner of the dark dimension.
To protect against him, the Ancient One built a temple and guarded against the threat of Dormammu.
"Well, even if I'm not sure it's completely accurate, at least there's a solid foundation for it," Noah concluded with a sigh.
He glanced at the dark power swirling in his hand. "So, what should I do with this thing?"
