Kaiser and his team entered the room and saw Ben, Emilia, and Luc. Ben squinted when he saw Tenko. Emilia's eyes widened. "Wait, aren't you Rei's friends?" she asked.
"Yeah, I know them too," Luc added.
Kaiser and Lyla were relieved that Emilia knew them, but they were still confused as to how Luc knew them. "Yes, we are Rei's friends," Kaiser said.
Tenko barked, and Ben's eyes softened. "Tenko, is it really you?"
"It's not the time to be surprised, we have a problem," Lyla said urgently.
Kaiser's team sat on the sofa. "Rei is in trouble," Kaiser said, and he explained the entire situation.
Ben listened carefully. "This is a problem. Unfortunately, the Revolutionaries can't leave the country right now."
"You have to do something!" Lyla insisted.
"Don't worry," Ben said. "I will come with you. Rei promised me something, and I'm not letting anything happen to him until he fulfills his promise."
"I will come with you, too," Emilia said.
"Me too," Luc added. "I've been sitting for too long anyway. I need a good stretch."
Ben looked at the group. "We should plan our approach if we're going."
"Yeah," Kaiser agreed.
In the Black Devil Mansion, Piers followed Zen toward a room. He noticed the door was covered in paintings of devils, and a shiver ran down his spine. "Let's go," Zen said, opening the door.
Inside, the room was dimly lit by many candles, with strange objects and formations on the floor. "Is this the ritual room?" Piers asked.
"Yes," Zen replied. A man with a long white beard, black skin, red corneas, and yellow pupils came forward. He didn't look human. The man's gaze seemed to pierce Piers's soul before he nodded and walked to the back of the room.
"Follow him, Piers," Zen instructed.
They walked through a hall with many sutras scribbled on the walls and soon reached a room with an altar. "Lay here," the old man said. Zen told Piers to lie down on the altar, and he did. The old man began to chant a sutra. Piers immediately got a headache, and Zen was surprised. "How is Piers not already fainting?" he thought. "These sutras are strong enough to make any mortal faint."
The old man cut a bird's head and poured its blood all over the altar. While still chanting, he took out a black sword and pierced Piers's stomach. Piers grunted in pain and suddenly found himself in a new place.
"Where is this place?" Piers wondered, looking at the completely black space. A devil appeared and said, "You lucky boy, you are fortunate enough to attract my attention. From now on, I will reside in you." The devil began to turn into a purple liquid to enter Piers's body.
"What are you doing to me?" Piers cried out, but then he heard a scream. The liquid came out of his body, reforming the devil. It was now covered in a white fire and screaming, "Stop it! No, stop it! What did you do to me?"
Piers was stunned. "What is happening here?" With that, the devil melted. Another devil came, and he had a haughty attitude, but he met the same fate. Soon, devil after devil appeared, but they were all extinguished by the white flames.
Hell was abuzz with the news. "Hey, I heard there's a boy who came to contract a devil, but no devil was able to make a single contract with him," one devil said.
"Yeah, every devil who tried to contract with him died," another said.
This news reached the Devil Emperor Mephisto. "Are you sure?" he asked a devil. "A human no devil is able to contract with?"
"Yes, that's true, my lord," the devil said. "The devils who tried contracting him were just killed."
"Now I am interested," Mephisto said.
"My lord, please tell me you're not thinking of contracting him?" the devil begged. "You shouldn't choose him as your successor. Who knows if he might be delving into white arts?"
"Who do you think you are to tell me what to do?" Mephisto snapped, scaring the devil.
"I am sorry, my lord," the devil said. Mephisto stood up and vanished.
By this time, Piers was bored. "What's happening?" he muttered. "Why am I not getting a devil? Is getting a devil so difficult?"
"The answer, young man, is yes and no both," Mephisto's voice boomed.
Piers looked at him, annoyed. "Did you come to try your luck, too? Fine, go ahead."
"Yeah, let's see if I can make a contract with you." Mephisto's finger turned into a gas and went to Piers's body. However, Mephisto suddenly felt excruciating pain. He pulled his finger out and noticed it had caught fire with the white flame. Mephisto cut off his arm and regrew it. He then tried to use his devil powers to burn Piers's soul, Peirs staggered but a white shield formed around him. Mephisto saw a figure in the shield. The figure had six sets of wings and three eyes in the center, with more eyes on the joints of the wings. Mephisto's eyes widened. "What is that?" he thought. "Could it be the legendary Holy Guardian? No, it doesn't look like that. But because of this entity, the boy is basically immune to any devil energy."
The entity was the guardian angel of Rei's soul. Since Piers shared the same soul as Rei, he also had the guardian angel. Rei was from Earth, whose god king strived to make a peaceful world, so he gave his citizens a guardian angel to save them from any devil attacks. Though it was an imperfect solution, it made the world a better place to live. In contrast, Suez created a world where one had to fight to survive, so the people knew nothing about guardian angels.
Mephisto, who didn't know about guardian angels, realized he would need the god strength to make a contract. He vanished from the space. "I would need Lucifer if I need god strength," he thought. He teleported to Lucifer's palace. "Lucifer, I need some of your god strength," he said.
Lucifer, a devil emperor of the same rank as Mephisto, asked smugly, "You need my god strength? Absolutely not."
"What do you need in return?" Mephisto asked, annoyed.
Lucifer smirked. "What is so important that you would do a favor for me?"
"Tell me what you need in return, or I'll take it by force," Mephisto said. Lucifer knew that if they fought, they would likely kill each other, so he agreed. "Well, if you're being so desperate, I'll give you the god strength. However, I want your Dark Emperor's Sword."
"Fine," Mephisto said, giving the sword to Lucifer. In return, Lucifer gave him the god strength. Mephisto teleported back to where Piers was waiting and used the god strength.
Piers was surprised. "What are you doing?" he asked. He felt a calm and pleasant sensation as Mephisto used the god strength that would purify his power that he will sent through the hell and transfer it to Piers, making a contract. however since he made a contract with Peirs using the god strength he woul not get anything and his devil powers would be purified not curropting Rei. Mephisto did this because he knew Piers was worthy of his legacy because of the entity he carried.
Suddenly, Piers found himself back at the altar. The sutras on the floor had melted, signaling the ritual's failure.
