Chapter 136 - training at the camp

The next day, Rei, Bart, and Eugene went to their respective training areas. Eugene headed to the kid's meditation stage. He sat down and began circulating his holy magic throughout his body. Soon, his body started glowing, and an aura of calm and serenity spread throughout the area. Anyone near it felt their wounds begin to heal. Inside Eugene's mind, he felt a deep connection to an unknown power, pure and radiant, and he became lost in the sensation, his mind growing calmer as he synchronized with the holy magic.

Next to his small stage, a girl with an angry expression was meditating. Her fire magic began to shift into an uncontrollable inferno, surging towards Eugene. However, Eugene's holy power formed a protective dome around him, stopping the inferno without even disturbing him. A man approached the girl. "Noa," he sighed. "I told you to focus on the energy and synchronize with it, rather than getting consumed by it."

"What should I do when I synchronize with fire magic?" Noa retorted. "I only feel irresistible anger."

The man sighed. "How many times must I explain that fire magic does not cause anger if you can synchronize with it properly? You are letting your magic dictate your feelings and mind."

"Then what should I do?" Noa asked.

"Look at Eugene," the man suggested. "He is synchronizing so well. Try to do it like him."

"I have fire magic, not holy magic! How can I synchronize like him?" Noa exclaimed. "I am going!" Noa got up and left. The man sighed and walked away as well. Noa muttered to herself, "Hmph, one guest is prodigal, so he's telling me with his example."

As Noa walked towards the kid's warrior section, she saw Bart standing on the stage, fighting a few older children. A boy attacked with his fist, but Bart stopped it with one hand and used the opponent's momentum to send him flying. The opponent quickly got up and charged at Bart. Bart, however, changed his stance at the last moment, dodged the opponent's fist, then attacked with his own fist at the opponent's stomach. His opponent stammered and dropped to his knees. Noa's eyes widened as she watched Bart easily defeat his opponent.

Another boy came and kicked the kneeling boy off the stage. "Where's your camaraderie?" Bart asked.

"There is no camaraderie in here, only weak and strong people," the boy replied.

"Let's see then," Bart challenged. The boy attacked, but Bart dodged each of his strikes with ease. "Compared to my previous opponent, you seem way too weak," Bart taunted. Bart feigned a punch, and the boy dodged, but then suddenly felt a sharp pain in his stomach and coughed. He realized the first punch was only a feint for the real blow from Bart's other hand. Bart then used his other fist and knocked him down. He then kicked the boy from the stage. "You get what you deserve," Bart declared.

Noa was truly impressed by the strength that helped display dominance. Yet, in her magic meditation, the one thing she couldn't show was her dominance. She sighed, thinking, "Only if I had spirit arts instead of magic." She walked away from the kid's warrior section and reached the adult's warrior section. She was surprised to see a kid on the adult section of the warrior stage.

A man standing on the stage said, "So your name is Rei? Hugo, what's so special about him? He looks like an average kid. If I fight him, I will be bullying him." Noa saw that Rei remained calm despite what the man had said and whispered, "Rei? What an interesting boy."

"Don't worry about him; worry about yourself," Hugo told the man.

"Fine, I would just use half of my strength to fight him," the man boasted. Rei was still silent and did not waver. Noa thought, "Why isn't he retorting? Shouldn't he be angry at their underestimation of him, or is he too weak and scared?"

The man charged at Rei with a fist. However, Rei used martial arts from his past life to dodge, then held the man's arm and threw him to the ground. Noa and the other men were all surprised, except for Hugo. Rei, with a calm face, said, "Give up. There is no chance you can beat me."

The man got up, clearly angry, and attacked. "You puny brat!" Rei dodged the attacks with his martial arts, then used them to destabilize the man and make him fall to the ground again. "You are too weak to fight me," Rei stated. The man deceptively acted like he was out. As Rei got closer, he launched a sneak attack with his fist, but Rei caught it and used his martial arts to pin him down. "You are not going to understand it the easy way, then let's use the hard way," Rei said, attacking the pinned man with his fist. Noa was surprised by the sheer dominance Rei was displaying, though it could be argued it was the man's fault for sneak attacking even after Rei had given him many warnings. Noa walked away after watching, unable to bear the scene.

As she walked back, she sat on a stage and began meditating with her fire magic. At first, everything was going well. However, as usual, the fire magic started fluctuating, and she felt anger rising within her. Bart's dominance came to her mind, and she exerted her own dominance, redirecting the anger back at the fire. But even as she tried to wrestle with it, the fire magic began moving erratically throughout her body, attacking from different parts. She then remembered Rei's complete dominance and declared, "You are my magic!" She started controlling the magic completely, making it submissive. Her anger, however, was still getting stronger. Suddenly, a calm sensation washed over her, and her fire magic started coming under control. Eugene, while meditating, had expanded his magic field and was now encasing her stage in his calm aura as well. Throughout the rest of that time, Noa was able to gain some level of control over her magic.
